Hi Steve and welcome to the group.

Hi Hayes,
Great group, you and Donna have set up. Right up my street as it were. I just finished my current read today, so might join in the group read to get started. Nothing like a good book discussion.

Yay!
and thank you :-)

and thank you :-)
My name is Steve Robinson and I'm a fiction writer, writing for the mystery, crime and thriller genre with a family history angle. I was born in coastal Kent, UK, and now live with my wife in a small village near London on the Essex/Hertfordshire border. My passion for writing began at the age of sixteen when I was first published in a computer adventure magazine and I've been writing by way of a creative hobby ever since. When my career in software and telecommunications ended in redundancy, I began to write full time. `In the Blood,' my debut novel, was the result.
I become interested in genealogy as a means to tell the story of 'In the Blood' and perhaps because I have no idea who my own maternal grandfather is - which is something that has always intrigued me. He was an American GI billeted in England during the second world war and few years after the war ended he went back to America leaving a young family behind and no further contact was made. I traced him through his enlistment record to Arkansas and know very little else about him. Perhaps this is also why my lead character is an American genealogist.
I have a website where you can find out more about me and 'In the Blood', together with the inspiration and genealogy behind the book and a collection of research photos from Cornwall. I have a blog, too. The URL is http://www.steve-robinson.me.
I launched my first book six weeks ago and am surprised at how well it's been received in so short a time. I'm also a member of the Goodreads UK Amazon Kindle forum where 'In the Blood' is currently book of the month and is being met with some great reviews.
As I write for the mystery, crime and thriller genre, this group seemed like another perfect place to hang out, so here I am. I joined yesterday and added a thread to Author's Corner, then realised I hadn't 'reported for duty'. I'm currently reading 'Restless' by William Boyd. Not really crime, but I wanted to read it for the historical mystery element.
Best wishes to all,
Steve.
