I am hoping to read this as well, but may not start it immediately.
I won't be reading this one, because i was not impressed by the author's previous series the Night Angel.
I want to join in on this ... hopefully I get these other books put away...I'm rather excited!
Enjoy everyone!I have too many books started right now, and am looking forward to reading book 2 in the Night Angel trilogy, before more of Week's work.
I want to read it, not quite sure whether I'll be able to for this month since I haven't managed to get a copy of it yet.. But here's to hoping :)
This will be my first book to read since joining this group a couple days ago, and I'm very excited. I recently finished the Night Angel series and loved it; I was planning on reading this book as soon as I could get my hands on it. I'm excited for good discussion!=
I read it last month in anticipation of this discussion group. I will refrain from any discussion of plot until a few more people have finished though. All I can say is that I loved it!! I thought it was better than the first series and I really liked that too

Ack, I meant on the facebook page for this BOOK. My apologies.
I'm a hundred pages in and having a very difficult time of it. Am I missing something ? I think, I'm about to stop reading, unless someone can make a case for the book getting better ?
The book may be slow to start, and a little different than his other works but it gets much better. 100 pages is not that far in when the book is over 600 pages long, and the ending is way worth it. I can't wait for the next book. :)

I read his Night Angel series and enjoyed them, but I can't get into this series. I will look for something that holds my attention better.
Not every book or series is for everyone, and I agree that the Night Angel Trilogy was better... but The Black Prism is just the start of his new series. I for one, really liked this book still. I know when I read the Adamantine Palace by Stephen Deas, the first half of the book was pretty boring and I thought about giving up on it a time or two but I stuck with it and it was worth it in the end.

I've documented my thoughts in a preliminary review . I'd be interested in discussing these aspects of the book (what works/doesn't work, why), but don't want to be a downer on a book that it seems everyone else is enjoying.
I'm a bit behind in my reading. The last book took my twice as long as I thought it would to read. But, I lugged the hardcover of Black Prism with me to work today to force me to start it. At over 600 pages, I doubt I'll finish by the weekend. :)

Is there going to be another discussion thread for more in-depth discussion and potential spoilers?
I started reading this last Friday. I'm currently 62% into it. To be honest, I'm having trouble visualizing a lot of this one. I read and loved the Night Angel Trilogy, however, I don't remember having to constantly stop and try to picture what was being described. Is it just me or is anyone else having the same issues? Two examples are (view spoiler)
See, I feel the opposite, that there is over-description that is getting in the way of telling the story....personal tastes, I guess!

There's a discussion going on in the Finished Reading folder, you should join :) Lots of good discussion topics!

Thanks and happy reading!
