Melki My parents used to have this great medical book, with acetate overlays of the nervous system, the circulatory system, muscles, etc. All of them would be folded over the skeletal system like a 2D "visible man" model. It was the coolest thing - and it surely got me interested in science and medicine.

I think we owe a great debt to Netter and all the other illustrators like him.

Bunnie O'hara | 210 comments melki- i think my interest in science came from my dad-he was a pharmacist and when i was small he let me poke pills--that is spread the loose powder out on a glass plate and poke the medicine into the capsules..i don't think he gave those to customers--so for some reason i had an interest in medicine and science-you never know what is going to interest a child so it's important to give them different experiences.and i do appreciate Dr Netter.

Bunnie O'hara | 210 comments melki,my god i'm an old person--guess i had better wash with something really strong?
by the way how have you been? what new project are you working on? i am working on blocks from the 1863
Jane Stickle patterns-i thought 4 and 1/2 inches was a little too small but have decided i can do it--there are 225 patterns-some are pieced and some are both
pieced and appliqued.

Melki Old or not, your eyesight must be better than mine!

I've cut WAY back on the crafts and have been mostly reading. I've been suffering from a definite lack of ambition lately, and anything other than turning pages seems like too much effort.

You certainly sound like you're keeping busy.

message 60: by Bunnie (new)

Bunnie O'hara | 210 comments melki, i haven't been doing much with crafts either.like you i have lost ambition --not sure why or exactly how to fix it. i do the stickle patterns here and there for want of something else to do but like you would rather sit and read-maybe it's the bad economic outlook.-it is just so depressing at times-i am not suffering as much as a couple of my children.we will come out of this -when is the question.my eyesight is ok -i can occassionally thread a needle without help.i don't think it's the presidents fault -he can only do so much.

message 61: by Melki (new)

Melki I'm sure there are many who'd like to blame their poor eyesight on the President, but I'm not one of them.

Bunnie O'hara | 210 comments melki,-i just got done reading a small book about Aaron-Burr-back in those days -it was the same. politics was just as dirty as today-It was Thomas Jefferson that wanted to ruin Burrs chances and he did just that-he hated Burr as did many for the killing of Alexander Hamilton-the two parties will never work together for the good of all-they both want it all.
