I got Queen of the Damned a few months back at the Goodwill. It that one of the last ones? It is truly horrible. I read about 3/4 of it but then gave out. she tends to repeat herself over and over and it drags on and on. It went back to the Goodwill. I liked Intervew with the Vampire altho it scared me too much. I noticed this discussion started in 2008....I don't think I was even on goodreads on 2008! I thought that was interesting.

I think my problem with the series is I didn't like any of the characters. I'm going to have to be in a very charitable mood to read it.
IMO there are much better things to read. I only did it to answer quiz questions.
I haven't read any of Anne Rice's vampire novels (although I saw the movie, Interview With the Vampire and saw the play, Lestat. But I've read the books that she has written so far in her Songs of the Seraphim series and though the premise is really interesting, I find her writing a little dry and detached. Is this the same in her other books?
Miranda, I've only read Interview With the Vampire; and since I haven't read anything in her new series, I can't make a direct comparison of the writing styles. Personally, though, for whatever it's worth, I would NOT describe the writing style in Interview as "dry and detached" (whatever other criticisms might be made of it). Others who've read more in the Vampire Chronicles series, and maybe more of her later work, would have a better-informed opinion.BTW, welcome to the group, and thanks for your comments! It's great to have you with us, and I hope you'll enjoy being in the group. If you're interested, don't forget to vote on the current poll (at the polls link above, right-hand corner).

Thanks for the welcome and I just voted on the poll. So far, I do like this group and am enjoying all the discussions very much :)

I sure didn't realize that Ann Rice was the first to do this. No wonder she is so popular.

I see you have not read the whole series Sofia, it becomes alot clearer the more you read the more the story developes and peices together with people places and so forth. Lestat is the easiest to understand, simply put he's a rebellious teenager that is hell bent on breaking any and all rules.
