Lindsay (happilyever-after87) | 8 comments I just got done reading Delirium, by Lauren Oliver and I am soooooooo mad! I wanted something that actually ended happy! I am a happilyeverafter type book reader, usually. The couple should always get together in the end. All I can say is the sequel better rock Ms. Oliver! P.s....I don't really like her style of writing anyway. She way over does it w the imagery stuff. I found myself skipping a ton of the wordy pointless stuff to get straight to the dialog. Sorry to be so critical. I hate when ppl overly criticize books or movies I loved. So to all those who loved this book, I'm sorry. It took me a while to read this book and I was so hoping for a great ending after being let down w Mockingjay, so I'm just a little disgruntled right now. *SIGH*

Fred (flybrariman) | 10 comments I feel your pain, I wasn't too crazy about the way it ended either, have high hopes for the sequel. I've gotta admit, though, I love her style, and that was all that kept me going in this book. That style was why I liked Before I Fall so much, but not a whole lot of HEA goin' on there, either. Here's one you might like (I didn't do a compare or anything, it's just a good HEA book): Breathe, by Abbi Glines. But it's more a contemp romance than a dystopia, so you should know that going in. Good luck, and thanks for sharing your thoughts, I did get a kick out of them. That's how I felt about We'll Always Have Summer, which had sort of a HEA, just with the wroing guy, imo.

Lindsay (happilyever-after87) | 8 comments Thanks for the rec Fred. I looked at the summary, not sure if its my type....the contemporary aspect I think is what is throwing me off a little. Plus it seems like the book is all about the love story. I really like a good action/fantasy or lite sci-fi w a good HEA love story intertwined. Have you ever read The Goose Girl books by Shannon Hale? That's my type of book right there. Fave in that series was Enna Burning. Loved loved loved it!!!

Fred (flybrariman) | 10 comments I will def check them out, thanks! I used to be huge on sci-fi and fantasy, but seem to be skewing more contemp now. Here's an offbeat suggestion that might seem weird, but have you ever read anything by Dean Koontz? Some of his books are really good, and combine mild sci-fi elements with lots of suspense, and some romance. By the Light of the Moon is really good that way. Life Expectancy is also a good read with those elements. If you haven't looked at him before, don't be put off by his reputation, he's not a horror writer, just a great storyteller, and his boooks are super enjoyable. Thanks again for the rec, and happy reading!
