"Yeah," I say. "Orion."
Doc sags in relief. "His voice reminds me of someone I used to know..."
Based on this excerpt do you think there is more to Orion than being a Recorder?
11. Who do you think 'unplugged' Amy?
12. (Chapter 14, page 81-2) "Was it him?"
"No!" I protest immediately.
"Of course not," Doc says. Then, to me, "He's not talking about you."

35. Were you surprised by Harley's suicide?

Discussion ?'s for Chapters 1-8
1. Why do you think Elder feels like a misfit?
2. Is Orion truly Elder's father?
3. Why do you think all the frozen people were hidden?
4. What do you think the last reason of 'discord' is?
Here are my answers:
1. Why do you think Elder feels like a misfit?
I think he's a misfit because he has a clear mind. He's a natural leader, and he wants to be free, and isn't content with life the way it is.
2. Is Orion truly Elder's father?
I think the odds are too much that he is. It seems unlikely.
3. Why do you think all the frozen people were hidden?
I think they wanted to keep the "unity" on the ship. The people aren't the same, so they don't want people to find out about others that are different from them.
4. What do you think the last reason of 'discord' is?
I think it could be desire. Desire for more than what they have.
Sorry if the questions aren't so great, it's my first time doing it!

1. Why do you think Elder feels like a misfit?
I have a whole theory on why Elder feels like a misfit: Eldest and Doc are drugging the Feeders to feel happy all of the time. So the Feeders may not even have much of a choice on how they get to feel.
2. Is Orion truly Elder's father?
I don’t think so. I think he’s just curious about his family and tried to identify himself with Orion. Who would blame him?
3. Why do you think all the frozen people were hidden?
I think Eldest is trying to preserve the monotone ethnicity on Godspeed. The fact that the frozen people may look different (different hair color, race, thoughts) might threaten the perfect society they have on Godspeed
4. What do you think the last reason of 'discord' is?
??? What chapter was this in
Edit: I honestly don't know. I'm looking forward to what Eldest has to say. Desire sounds like a good theory. Eldest doesn't seem to have a warm heart so he might despise love.

I had some questions that I wanted to ask you based on chapters 1-8. They kept nagging at me and I want to know what you think. Don't worry, I'll write some more for tomorrow ;). (Think of them as bonus questions)
Bonus question for chapters 1-8
5. Do you think Amy waking up in Chapter 7 was a dream or reality?
6. If it wasn't a dream then why did someone try to make her wake up? Who do you think was involved with trying to wake her up?
7. Do you think it's natural that Amy still has thoughts while she is frozen?
8. Do you think Eldest will wake up all of the citizens when the time comes?

Ohhhh. I know what you're talking about now...I honestly don't know. I'm looking forward to what Eldest has to say. Desire sounds like a good theory. Eldest doesn't seem to have a warm heart so he might despise love.

5. Do you think Amy waking up in Chapter 7 was a dream or reality?
Definitely reality, it’s was just too vivid and coincidental to be a dream. Plus the door was already open. Someone was clearly ‘messing’ with her.
6. If it wasn’t a dream then why did someone try to make her wake up? Who do you think was involved with trying to wake her up?
I think Doc was involved. He’s the only other person besides Eldest that knew about the hidden level. Plus he admitted to being on that level earlier. I don’t know who the second party was though. I don’t think it was Eldest.
7. Do you think it's natural that Amy still has thoughts while she is frozen?
I don’t think it’s natural. I think something went wrong while they froze her. Over 200 years of thoughts but no active movement is cruel.
8. Do you think Eldest will wake up all of the citizens when the time comes?
Nope. I think he plans to kill them all. That Eldest guy is a creepster.

Actually, it was a wild guess. I didn't think I had a theory until I actually started answering the question.
Here are my answers to the bonus questions:
Bonus question for chapters 1-8
5. Do you think Amy waking up in Chapter 7 was a dream or reality?
I was actually going to use this question, but I decided against it. I'm really unsure right now, but I do think it could be partially true.
6. If it wasn't a dream then why did someone try to make her wake up? Who do you think was involved with trying to wake her up?
I like your answer Sashana, for this one. I think right now, we haven't met this character, or it is Doc.
7. Do you think it's natural that Amy still has thoughts while she is frozen?
Great question! I do think it's unnatural. Maybe because she was trying to break out when they froze her, something didn't happen correctly?
8. Do you think Eldest will wake up all of the citizens when the time comes?
No, I don't think so. I think Elder might fight him on that one for sure.

9. What do you think about Godspeed's version of curse words? (i.e. frex[ing] and chutz)
10. (Chapter 12, page 74) Doc, however, has stopped in his tracks, his face whitewashed. "Are you sure that's just a Recorder?"
He turns back to Eldest. "It's impossible, and you know it. You're being paranoid."
"Who are you-"
Who do you think the mysterious 'him' is that Eldest and Doc are referring to?

9. What do you think about Godspeed's version of curse words? (i.e. frex[ing] and chutz)
I think they’re brilly (lol). It reminds me of the words in the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. Last night I called my friend a chutz and she was like “wwhhhat?”
10. (Chapter 12, page 74) Doc, however, has stopped in his tracks, his face whitewashed. "Are you sure that's just a Recorder?"
"Yeah," I say. "Orion."
Doc sags in relief. "His voice reminds me of someone I used to know..."
Based on this excerpt do you think there is more to Orion than being a Recorder?
Yes. I will be keeping my eyes on that Orion. I think there maybe something about him, maybe I’m just over analyzing his character but my spidey senses are tingling here.
11. Who do you think 'unplugged' Amy?
I’m getting confused. It couldn’t be Doc, Elder, or Orion because they were all accounted for but I don’t think it would be Eldest. It think it’s the mysterious ‘him’
12. (Chapter 14, page 81-2) "Was it him?"
"No!" I protest immediately.
"Of course not," Doc says. Then, to me, "He's not talking about you."
He turns back to Eldest. "It's impossible, and you know it. You're being paranoid."
"Who are you-"
Who do you think the mysterious 'him' is that Eldest and Doc are referring to?
I think it’s the Elder who died (crazy as that may sound). Maybe he isn’t really dead.

Here are my answers:
9. What do you think about Godspeed's version of curse words? (i.e. frex[ing] and chutz)
I honestly don't really like them. I can see where they "evolved" from, but the don't seem like plausible words. Especialy frex. What would you say? What the frex? It just doesn't work for me. Chutz I can see, though. Like you're such a chutz.
I defiantly think he could be. My theory is that he once had something to do with Eldest. Maybe he was once the Elder?
11. Who do you think 'unplugged' Amy?
At this point, I still don't know. It could be Eldest, trying to get rid of Amy? I honestly doubt it though.
I also think it could be the previous Elder. It seems like he isn't truly dead (could it be Orion?)
Is the book getting any better for you, Sashana?

Here are my questions for today:
Discussion Questions for Chapters 17-24
1. Who do you think killed Number 100? And why number 100?
2. Why do you think Orion was so nice to Amy?
3. Why do you think Eldest treats Elder so badly? For example, on p. 145 is says: ...and I know by the way he says it, as if he's a master speaking to a slave, that Eldest means me, not Doc

1. Who do you think killed Number 100? And why number 100?
I think it's got to be the old Elder now. At the end of Chapter 24, Eldest said "No, not him, he's dead." which defiantly implies it's the old Elder. Though I'm not sure of his motive for killing number 100.
2. Why do you think Orion was so nice to Amy?
There's something up with Orion. He's not what he seems to be. I'm going to be watching him very closely....
3. Why do you think Eldest treats Elder so badly? For example, on p. 145 is says: ...and I know by the way he says it, as if he's a master speaking to a slave, that Eldest means me, not Doc
I think it has to do with the old Elder. I think Eldest is still feeling kinda bad about it, so he's being super mad at Elder.

13. Who do you think killed Number 100? And why number 100?
I honestly don't know why they would pick 100 but I do think the same person who unplugged Amy unplugged him. I hope we get some answers soon. So many unanswered questions...
14. Why do you think Orion was so nice to Amy?
I think he might be against Eldest. I keep asking myself why he didn't act surprised when he saw her. He wasn't shocked enough.
15. Why do you think Eldest treats Elder so badly? For example, on p. 145 is says: ...and I know by the way he says it, as if he's a master speaking to a slave, that Eldest means me, not Doc
Because he doesn't like the idea of anyone having a little power, especially if that person happens to be the future leader. He wants to make it clear to everyone who is in charge.

Ditto. I wish more characters would come out of the wood works so far we have slim pickings.

16. In chapter 25 the patients seem erriely emotionless. Do you think this is more incentive to believe that they are being drugged?
17. Why does Eldest want the 'patients' in the hospital to believe that they are crazy? (refer to chapter 17)
18. Are there any noticeable similarities between Amy and William Robertson (#100)?

I'm pretty much sure that this is what is going on.
17. Why does Eldest want the 'patients' in the hospital to believe that they are crazy? (refer to chapter 27)
Obviously the people who live on the Feeder level are supposed to be dumb. These 'patients' are a threat to Eldest because they aren't stupid. It's his way of keeping an eye on them
18. Are there any noticeable similarities between Amy and William Robertson (#100)?
Not that I can see. Other than that they are from Earth.

Here are my answers:
Sashana's Questions for Chapters 25-32
16. In chapter 25 the patients seem erriely emotionless. Do you think this is more incentive to believe that they are being drugged?
Maybe that's Eldest way of controlling them.
17. Why does Eldest want the 'patients' in the hospital to believe that they are crazy? (refer to chapter 17)
I think it's so that they doubt themselves, and so they don't think their thoughts are correct. So, they won't rebel.
18. Are there any noticeable similarities between Amy and William Robertson (#100)?
As of right now, I don't think so. But I'll defiantly keep my eyes peeled...

1. Why do you think the girl "inoculating" the rabbits wouldn't believe Amy, even though the proof was right there?
2. Why do you think Orion was covering the portrait of Eldest?? [On page 197] Why isn't he 'brainwashed' like everybody else?
3. Do you think Elder is the killer of the frozen people?

Discussion ?'s for Chapters 33-40
1. Why do you think the girl "inoculating" the rabbits wouldn't believe Amy, even though the proof was right there?
Now, it can't just be their belief in Eldest. There's got to be something that's controlling all these people.
2. Why do you think Orion was covering the portrait of Eldest?? [On page 197] Why isn't he 'brainwashed' like everybody else?
I honestly don't know. But there's something fishy about this guy....
3. Do you think Elder is the killer of the frozen people?
No, I don't. It seems too obvious for that. As for who then, I don't have a clue.

A lifetime worth of brainwashing and being drugged up. Obviously the people on the Feeder level cannot think for themselves.
20. Why do you think Orion was covering the portrait of Eldest?? [On page 197] Why isn't he 'brainwashed' like everybody else?
I think it was his way of silently telling Elder that he has power too.
21. Do you think Elder is the killer of the frozen people?
I agree with you about it being too obvious.

22. Why are some people not affected by the hormones that Eldest puts in the water during The Season? (like Victoria, Eldest, and Harley)
23. Do you think Amy will drive a wedge between Harley and Elder?
24. Do you think Amy will tell Elder about Luthe's attack?
25. Will Amy ever get over Jason?

22. Why are some people not affected by the hormones that Eldest puts in the water during The Season? (like Victoria, Eldest, and Harley)
It's a mystery to me. If the hormones are in the water and everyone drinks the same water then I don't know why some people aren't affected. I'm interested to see what you think Aneeqah.
23. Do you think Amy will drive a wedge between Harley and Elder?
No. I can see that Elder gets slighly jealous whenever Harley and Amy interacts but I know that Harley doesn't like Amy.
24. Do you think Amy will tell Elder about Luthe's attack?
I hope she does. I'm anxiously awaiting his reaction
25. Will Amy ever get over Jason?
Hopefully sooner rather than later

22. Why are some people not affected by the hormones that Eldest puts in the water during The Season? (like Victoria, Eldest, and Harley)
I'm pretty sure these are the people that get injected with the needles, if they use the needles at all. Or, the 'bloodlines' the Eldest was talking about wasn't so mixed, and these people are actually semi-smart (along with their parents, grandparents, etc.). Maybe it also has something to do with their mental pills? I'm starting to think that the pills they take aren't really pills. I have so many theories!
23. Do you think Amy will drive a wedge between Harley and Elder?
I think Elder will get jelous, but then Harley will tell him he has no intrest in Amy, and then Elder won't have a problem. So basically, no.
24. Do you think Amy will tell Elder about Luthe's attack?
I don't think she'll describe it really, just say she got 'attacked'.
25. Will Amy ever get over Jason?
She better! Actually, I think she won't ever fully get over him, but enough that she and Eldest can be together.

Me too. I'm getting somewhat bored and aggravated because nothing is being answered. You'd expect for us to know something by now, we've already passed the halfway mark.

Discussion ?'s for Chapters 49-56
1. How do you think Amy was changed to be like a Feeder?
2. What is with these pills that the med-patients are using? What are they, and why are they being used?
3. Do you think the 25 extra years was planned all along, or was it actually unexpected?

1. How do you think Amy was changed to be like a Feeder?
It must be with the water. She drank alot of it, and Eldest told Elder it had something in it to change the Feeders.
2. What is with these pills that the med-patients are using? What are they, and why are they being used?
They must use it to keep some people sane from the water, or whatever is changing the Feeders into zombies.
3. Do you think the 25 extra years was planned all along, or was it actually unexpected?
I think they found out about it pretty early, but they didn't telly anybody, until now.

26. How do you think Amy was changed to be like a Feeder?
Yes I do. What I want to know is whether not it was planned or an accident
27. What is with these pills that the med-patients are using? What are they, and why are they being used?
Well since I read up to chapter 64 I can say for a fact that you are right on the money.
28. Do you think the 25 extra years was planned all along, or was it actually unexpected?
Honestly I thought it was a plot devised by Eldest because he didn't want the ship to land. Boy was I wrong.

29. Who do you think was hiding in the shadows while Elder and Amy were in The Recorder Hall during chapter 57?
30. Do you think Amy will be able to convince Elder that the history in The Recorder Hall is untrue/tampered with?
31. If Eldest/Elder are the only ones who can view data of Sol-Earth then why even change the history? Wouldn't it be smarter to just keep the history since no one else will be able to see it?
32. Now that we know the truth about The Plague, Phydus, the inhibitor pills, and the ship being behind schedule do you thing Eldest is evil as we originally thought? How could he (and the Eldest of the past) have went about things differently?

29. Who do you think was hiding in the shadows while Elder and Amy were in The Recorder Hall during chapter 57?
I'm pretty sure it was Orion. He said that he didn't like Eldest, so he was probably just hiding from him.
30. Do you think Amy will be able to convince Elder that the history in The Recorder Hall is untrue/tampered with?
I think she will, especially with all the lies that have been revealed to Elder. Plus, he really trusts her.
31. If Eldest/Elder are the only ones who can view data of Sol-Earth then why even change the history? Wouldn't it be smarter to just keep the history since no one else will be able to see it?
The people who did change it probably wanted it to help the future Elders not repeat the mistakes Earth did, and to help make it seem like peace is achieved through preventing the three causes of discord.
32. Now that we know the truth about The Plague, Phydus, the inhibitor pills, and the ship being behind schedule do you thing Eldest is evil as we originally thought? How could he (and the Eldest of the past) have went about things differently?
Do I still think he's evil? Well, yes, at least a little bit. But not as much as I originally thought. I'm actually not sure what they could do differently. But, defiantly not what they did, which was lie.
It's nice to finally get some of our questions answered in this section, but there's one really major thing we still don't know about. And that's Orion. Who is he really? What does he have against Elder? What has he done in his past? It's very aggravating....

29. Who do you think was hiding in the shadows while Elder and Amy were in The Recorder Hall during chapter 57?
Orion. I don't think Eldest would slink around in a dark corner. He's too proud to do that
30. Do you think Amy will be able to convince Elder that the history in The Recorder Hall is untrue/tampered with?
Yes, especially now that Elder knows that Eldest lied about the Plague.
31. If Eldest/Elder are the only ones who can view data of Sol-Earth then why even change the history? Wouldn't it be smarter to just keep the history since no one else will be able to see it?
I think this is to keep the future Eldest/Elder ignorant.
32. Now that we know the truth about The Plague, Phydus, the inhibitor pills, and the ship being behind schedule do you thing Eldest is evil as we originally thought? How could he (and the Eldest of the past) have went about things differently?
I think he's as evil as I originally thought. Yes, I understand why he had to deceive people I don't think it was right.

Questions for chapters 65-72

34. Do you think that Orion could be a better leader than Eldest?
35. Were you surprised by Harley's suicide?

I'm interested to see what you thing Aneeqah. I already finished the book so it wouldn't be fair for me to answer.
34. Do you think that Orion could be a better leader than Eldest?
I think any leader would be better than Eldest. With that being said Orion is unplugging people so he wouldn't be a great leader in general
35. Were you surprised by Harley's suicide?
