Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten How can you make your group stand out in a crowd of similar groups? This is the topic you can discuss and swap ideas for making your group stand out!

Catchy titles always make me look at the group, even if it turns out its an awful group. So, I always try to come up with interesting titles.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten Yeah. And a good first couple lines in the group description. Catch the persons attention.
Another thing that I find works, is to put a picture at the top in your group description. When you're scrolling through a long list of groups you searched, the ones with pictures will pop out at you and probably make you curious about the group.

Oh, definitely. I always see groups with pictures. I normally join them if they interest me, unless its a role play group with over 100 members.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten That's interesting. I don't mind joining larger groups, but only if they have new roleplays I can join so I'm not jumping into an rp with over a thousand posts.
And that brings me to another thing.... when people are narrowing down their lists that is often something they look for. New roleplays, and ones that catch their interests. If you have a rp group that isn't themed(Warriors, Percy Jackson, etc) then you should try and create a new rp frequently to tip the balance so people will join.

Exactly. Even in most of my themed groups, and my main ones, me and the other mods try to add different role plays, but with the same theme. For example, in my wolf group, we had a single wolf rp. It was super active, and not many new people had a chance to join. So, we made a wolf zoo role play, and a realistic one. We plan on adding more, if the group gets more members. But it's become secret because we had some really annoying people in it who just caused trouble. They would keep making new accounts, so we just decided to make it secret. :(

Anyway, yeah, variety matters. Some fun game topics or themed chat topics, like about T.V shows or movies always help activity, for me.

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten Ah. Yeah... I totally get that.

Yes, that helps. Give people more things to do, or they'll burn out fast and leave... or not join at all.

Bobbie (zoningout) I agree with everything. it's better to go "super/secret advance roleplay" - something like that - than to say "another rolplay" >.<

then there's the descriptions. haha. I always make it funny but informative.

Ella (ellarosewood) | 138 comments I like to join group with 50 or less people, big groups mean lots of updates. I also like to join groups that my friends are in. I normally find groups by looking at my friends updates.
Another thing is where you out the group, and what tags you add. If people like role playing wolves they'll search for groups tagged 'Wolf Role Play', or a group in the section titled 'Animals and Pets'.

Faith Noelle Smith Guys have any ideas for my group? http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/5...
Look at it then give me some tips or something.

Faith Noelle Smith What are tags??

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten You'll find them in the "group settings" place. You just type in words, and your group will pop up as an option every time someone searches a group and one of your tags is in the things they searched.

 Faith Noelle Smith Oh cool.

Bobbie (zoningout) I agree that big groups can be itmidating during your newbie cycle. it's very heared to squeeze in and make yourself known and like. AND with the more developed groups everyone has sort of partnered up in there roleplays so no one will volunteer to roleplay with you. I find that people are constantly drawn by "NEW" in a title. haha.

message 16: by Bobbie (new)

Bobbie (zoningout) I don't like groups with a thousand roleplays either. plus I like organized rp's with plot forum's or maybe a discussion about each Rp to keep up with them ^.^

message 17: by Faith Noelle (new)

Faith Noelle Smith So your not going to join?

message 18: by Bobbie (new)

Bobbie (zoningout) Oh, that wasn't a comment on your group. I haven't actually looked at the link yet. lol. hold on.

Add new roleplays, all the time, that way people will be encouraged to stay active and invite more people. Have half a dozen ideas ready to be made into a roleplay.
