I find "The Wednesday Sister's" unique and very relateable! (Uh, no, I'm not done reading it yet!) Thank you for writing this novel! I LOVE the writing group aspect of it! (I was a part of a short lived one last Fall and loved it!)
I like to say that I'm a constipated writer! I get a brief fiction idea & jot it down but when it comes to writing more than that, I lose it and nothing comes. How are you able to stick with an idea and develope it to the end, even through the blocks, misgivings & self criticisms and life in general? (I do have problems with self confidence & motivation, so these do not help me!)
I don't have as much of a problem when I'm writing nonfiction~ I've always thought I'd write fiction~ perhaps I'm fighting something I shouldn't?! (My girlfriend keeps telling me (and has for a couple of years now) that I should put all of my non-fic pieces together in an Eat Pray Love type style...)
I definately don't have this problem when I'm journaling (or blogging!). I don't use my journals to work out story idea's though, as you do, so I may give that a try!

Glad you're enjoying the book, Jo!
My rule when I'm writing first draft: 8:00 to 2:00 or 2,00 words every day. I find if commit to sitting there and trying to work, the words will come. More on some days, less on others. Sometimes a dropped stitch I have to unravel a whole mess of knitting to fix. But even that is progress.
For the self-confidence thing, I know very few writers who don't know what that's like. That's one of the reasons it's really nice to have writing friends. They buck you up when you're cratering, and push you along when you need it, like the Wednesday Sisters do in the book.
Thank you!
