Thanks Cynthia I have been trying to do that. I have a habit of feeling guilty and apologising for things happening that I'm not responsible for, for things I can't control. I am sure that is no help at all.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Keep trying and please note that I am fabulous at giving advice, not so good and listening to my own advice.

Kids that are bullied.

message 158: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3595 comments Yes. You can't really fight cyber-bullying. Kids these days have it tough - and parents, too.

I got bullied in Target on Wednesday! I couldn't come up with a snappy remark because I was terrified the dude would pull out a weapon.

message 160: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I hate that this happened to you.

message 161: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Over on Facebook, Random Anthony offered to kick the man in the balls for me. Such a gentleman.

@Felix: thanks dear. I wrote a nice check to the Obama campaign in Mr. Buttface's honor.

message 162: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Good move.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments WHAT??

message 165: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments Front page of the local paper today, since one of the alleged participants is a 31 year old local resident.

message 166: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Awful.

My wife is constantly warning me about opening my big mouth for this very reason, but if there's anything I hate worse than losing at sports, it's letting somebody get the last word in on me.

message 168: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I hate it too, Clark. But for once I put a sock in it. Restraint, a sign of emotional maturity? Maybe.

message 169: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I think it's a good sign. Beats making headlines.

I suppose.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Better than getting shot in my local Target store over a few stupid remarks. Honestly this raging man was the closest I've seen to the Devil. Crazy raging.

I indicated to a man and his wife and beautiful college daughter that I might be a few minutes with my cartload and my application for a Target debit card. I said I was sorry.
His responses were:
You SHOULD be sorry.
You have INCONVENIENCED my family.
I see you are moving very QUICKLY to get back to the checkout line.
Ass.

message 175: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Ass.

That's just weird....who says stuff like that.

message 177: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That guy in Target.

message 178: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments On the other hand, I attended the President's event at ISU yesterday and everyone there was happy and smiling. My youngest daughter (Obama intern) said the most excited students were the international kids who were thrilled to see the President to the point of shrieking and jumping in the air. Got to love Mr. Obama. And I don't know how the GOP gets away with saying he does not love this country.

message 179: by Félix (new)

Anyone who says that: Fuck. You.

message 183: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Yes, and he freaking loves this country enough to do a job no one else wants. And he has my girl Hillary Clinton out making sure the world is a better place than it was before. Who's Romney got, Chris Christie? Oh yes, the Palestinians and the Israelis would really sit down with him and talk.

message 184: by Cheri (new)

Cheri | 795 comments This morning on NPR, a reporter was talking with a woman delegate at the RNC. She kept saying that she didn't like the way President Obama 'looked'. He didn't have the 'face of America' and she wanted a First lady that was more like her. Blond, thin, rich, WHITE? It makes me sad that Americans are not even embarrassed that they are openly racists. I'm sad that NPR would put that interview on the air, as if there wasn't anything wrong with what she was saying.

message 185: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments That saddens me too, Cheri. The reporter really did not call her out?

Lobstergirl | 24786 comments Mod
Whoa, we need more interviews like that on the air. If there are actually people who have those opinions and do not see a problem with stating them to a reporter on air....I think a lot of America would be shocked to hear that. I would be. If there is an ugly underbelly to America, we need to expose it.
