Book Recommendations based on The Help

Does anyone have any good book recommendations that are similiar to The Help by Kathryn Stockett?

I'm sure the movie won't be as good as the book, but I still can't wait to see it.

i havent read it - but for non-fiction when I was asking for something similar, someone recommended The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

I second "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks." I think the fact that it is a true story makes it that much better. You can't go wrong with the book! In various rankings and lists, it has been consistently chosen as one of the best books of 2010.

I personally loved The Help. I'm not sure these are similar, but I work in a bookstore so I talk to people about what they read ALL the time. I might suggest The Postmistress by Sarah Blake, One Day by David Nicholls, Never Let Me Go By: Kazuo Ishiguro, or The Rapture of Canaan by Sherie Reynolds. Just to name a few.

I would also add "Saving CeeCee Honeycut" by Beth Hoffman.

One book that I loved which is similar to The Help is The Secret Life Of Bee's...

Two books that I recently read and enjoyed and found similar to The Help are:

The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom and Wench by Dolen Perkins-Valdez.

Fried Green Tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Cafe!

One Day is really hard for me to get through. I wouldn't say that its similar at all to Help. I really enjoyed "Water for Elephants" and just finished "The Solider's Wife".

I wouldn't say I can think of a book that is "similar" as far as storyline or subject matter, but I could recommend books that I enjoyed as much as The Help....
