Printing on bumpy cotton rug

I got your book today and totally was absorbed in reading in the book. Thank you for sharing the experiences. I've been looking for books like yours for a long time. I am planning to print some pattern on a bumpy (think corrugated) thick cotton rug. Which ink would you recommended? The rug would be regularly washed and the ink should be non-toxic and not easy to flake (children in the house). Again, thanks so much for your "labor of love". I am so excited and can't wait to get started.

i'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying the book so far. thank you!

any water-based fabric ink will be fine to use. i recommend Speedball brand. the ink will need to be heat-set to make it washable (either ironed or tossed in the dryer on high heat).

yes, i love the book! i asked for it for last Christmas:) i'm starting to screenprint on clothes and bags and was wondering how long you put the fabric in the dryer to heat-set? this is such a great idea, b/c ironing each item can be very time consuming! thx for the tip!

i don't use fixative since i heat set my fabric. but if you want to avoid heat setting, give it a try! please let me know how it goes.

hi there.
i usually dry fabric for 20 minutes, because that's the shortest setting on my dryer, but 10 min on high heat is enough.
