I just finished reading Neil Gaiman's Stardust. A magical story that put me in the mind of Boy's Life by Robert McCammon. (It wasn't quite that good, but very close.)
Joe wrote: WHITE is kind of a post apocalyptic horror novella, things moving around out in a snowstorm type story, which is right up my alley."That sounds awesome. I'm going to have to check that one out.
i want to read Lebbon's WHITE, but i want a printed copy, and so far have yet to find one. i am also still waiting for my copy of TURN DOWN THE LIGHTS because i foolishly paid for the higher priced signed and slipcased edition, and the signature plates got lost in the mail... or so mr Chizmar sez :P currently reading volume 24(?) 2013 MAMMOTH BOOK OF HORROR STORIES which has been hit or miss, mostly hit. and Jonothan mayberry's Joe Ledger books starting with PATIENT ZERO , which is formulaic gory fun light reading. when MR MERCEDES comes out in a few months it will be time for a STEPHEN KING binge , also got four Michael Koryta books on deck and two by Jo Nesbo. ( my dad thinks id like mr Nesbo"s stuff, we shall see)
Jon Recluse wrote: "I just got all three of Michael Marshall's Straw Men series.

"I've read 'em all. Very solid suspense. Looking forward to your reviews of these (especially book 2).

It's great, you won't be disappointed.

It is! And I wouldn't have caught wind of it without you posting the excellent cover you did for it, so thank you!
I'm reading THE SUNLIGHT DIALOGUES by John Gardner. First Gardner I've been tempted not to finish because he gets caught up in the power of his language instead of telling a story. Also handcopying James Lee Burke's RAIN GODS, which has been great so far. Preacher Jack is one wild character. For non-fic I'm reading MYTHOLOGY. Very cool book! The Sunlight DialoguesRain GodsMythology

Hi, Ila. I agree. James lee Burke is special. And Will Patton is definitely an amazing narrator of his novels. Hand copying is when I take a notepad and pen and copy one of my favorite writers novels word for word. It takes forever but I enjoy it and learn a lot.
Ila wrote: "Lee wrote: Hi, Ila. I agree. James lee Burke is special."Lee don't know if you're on Facebook or not but I just saw this posted by James Lee Burke and wanted to share it with you, and anyone else..."
That's awesome, Jim! Thanks for sharing. You ever watch videos on Youtube about James? They're great. He's such a charming, humble, brilliant guy.
Kealan wrote: "Oddly enough, I'm reading a James Lee Burke novel now, my first (and it won't be the last): A SHINING KIND OF RADIANCE."I hope you love his work, Kealan! I haven't read SHINING KIND OF RADIANCE yet. I've gotta rectify that!
Have started reading
. Not far into it, but enjoyed how it began. Meikle is a very good author, so I am sure it will continue being very good
I'm starting Creed too. :)And reading dark poetry from Sandy Deluca and Marge Simon. And reading Gallery of Horror, edited by Charles L. Grant and listening to Island of Vice: Theodore Roosevelt's Doomed Quest to Clean up Sin-loving New York.
I have a full plate!
Jon Recluse wrote: "Yay!!! :)"I need that reminder of what brought me to horror in the first place. :D
I didn't know you were friends, Kealan.I really enjoyed The Off Season. Always on the lookout for more of his books.
Jon Recluse wrote: "Yes, you do!Are you enjoying Gallery of Horror?"
I am! So far the majority of the stories have been top notch.
Kealan wrote: "Jon: You should give The Hauntings of Hood Canal a go. It played no small part in inspiring Currency of Souls."Sold! Thanks, Kealan!
Started Hugh Howey's Shift set, a series of essays on joke telling by Issac Asimov and a fluff piece to break up the seriousness
Kealan wrote: "Currently reading THE RIVER OF SOULS by Robert McCammon."Looking forward to reading that one!
I'm reading Mr. Mercedes and have The River of Souls lined up next. A friend gifted me a copy of the latest McCammon and I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! How is it so far, Kealan?
Done already?I am SUPER psyched that you liked it! I can't wait to get started. I loved how Providence Rider wound up, and how much Matthew has grown, so I'm sure I will love this one too. :)
Peter wrote: "I am reading Undertaker's Moon by Ronald Kelly!"I hope it's good, Peter, because I have that one on my Kindle. :)
