Especially Night Shift and Skeleton Crew. Well, I think they are all great, but those are the more "horrific" offerings of his short fiction.

Jack and Jill looks like it'll be great....and currently reading The Five

I love the Charlie Parker's series. One of my faves.
Right now I'm dividing my time between Strega by Vachss, and Every Dead Thing by Connolly.
I'm in a damaged sleuth mood.

I reread his stuff just to enjoy his use of the language.
His short stories are amazing, too.

I'm a few books behind in both series', I think. *sigh*
So much good stuff to read, so little time. :(

Are you talking about the five by Robert McCammon?

everything I have read by him has been great BOYS LIFE is one of my favorites

Swan song ams wolfs hour. Read all but the five. Need to bump,p that up on the queue

BOYS LIFE is an incredible read, and it's no exaggeration when I say that without that book, I'd nev..."
Seriously? I didn't know that!

Braunbeck PRODIGAL BLUES my fav

In what way did Boy's Life influence the writing of Turtle Boy, if you don't mind my asking? Curious minds want to know. :)

Guess my upbringing was fairly boring...Dad worked, and we loved every minute we had with him. (Can you tell I was a "Daddy's Girl"?) LOL!

I guess the difference is that he is a dad now. Do either of you have kids?

That's what happened to my dad. His dad ran out on his family when he was a kid, though in the end it was probably a good thing so he couldn't be an even worse influence as he was a scumbag and thief. My dad isn't perfect, but he is a good father, especially since he had no father figure to draw positive inspiration from.
Even though they were poor white Texas racists, I come from a long line of stable families. :)

I was going to ask that same question. My husband was adopted, but he never cared to find out about his "birth" parents. It was enough to have someone that wanted to raise him.
