Glad you're feeling better, Kealan.

Dennis Lehane's new book is due out. Nemesis is about to come out. My favorite Irish writers are doing pretty good so that makes me happy. : )"

All we need is a new John Connolly for the trifecta....

Chris, you must have also read Endurance then, right?
You don't feel that at heart, these are basically the same books?"

This is my first go round with Martin, but I've heard that a lot, that his characters often die. I think that's a vital element missing from many modern books, especially any series involving action. If there's no danger of the character dying, it's pretty boring.

Yeah, TRAPPED and ENDURANCE were similar, but not really any more so than most other things in the genre. Both are the people stuck in an awkward situation dealing with a psychopath story line. I like Konrath's stuff because it's super quick and always entertaining.

Jeez am I glad I don't live near you guys! Just got my flu shot today but I'm betting you won't be needed one now, eh, Kealan? Looks like your immune system took care of that all on its own. My friggin' arm hurts like hell but I'll take that over a 2 week flu any day. Glad you're feeling better!

Thanks, Kealan.
Luckily, my only symptoms are 103 degree fever related.
The nightmares have been fun, though.

Hey Jon, maybe you can write a book based on your nightmares! I know I was shopping for a movie deal when I took Chantix to quit smoking. That shit gives you crazy freaking dreams!

Marc Iverson (marc_iverson) | 243 comments Mine too -- or rather, my left shoulder. I think I was going too low on parallel bar dips last night and strained it good. It woke me up several times last night and on and off has been hurting like crazy today. I should have known better.

Keith Chawgo (kchawgo) Just finished Hissers by Ryan C Thomas - enjoyed it alot - some great characters with a nice twist.

Glen Krisch | 38 comments I recently got over a lingering fever, 3-4 weeks back. I had a 102 fever for basically two weeks. It sucked. Be well, Jon. Hope you feel better.

message 1371: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments Yes.
Thanks, Chris.
I plan to, as soon as someone qualified starts giving them out.

I started on Ania Ahlborn's newest"The Neighbors."
(Stupid link thingy isn't working).

message 1373: by Glen (new)

Glen Krisch | 38 comments Finished Malmborg's Scraping the Bone. Solid, creepy collection, as well as Gifune's Ushers of Darkness, which was pretty good as well.

message 1374: by Char (new)

Scraping the Bone sounds interesting.

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments I'm reading the original version of F. Paul Wilson's NightWorld.

Glen Krisch | 38 comments Ushers took about an hour tops. I'd get to it if you have a free moment.

message 1377: by Char (new)

Char I saw that, Recluse. I need to finish the RJ series.

Glen, maybe I will try to sneak it in over the weekend.

message 1378: by Jon Recluse (new)

Jon Recluse | 2066 comments Well, let's just say that Jack ain't alone at the Last Stand........ ;)

message 1380: by Char (new)

Char I finished The Neighbors by Ania Ahlborn. It was pretty good, but not horror. I would call it a thriller. I gave it 4*.
I started on The Risen by Jan Strnad and my library book came in, so I will finally be reading The Road.

message 1381: by Sharon/ LFrog1386 (new)

Sharon/ LFrog1386 (lfrog1386) | 301 comments You're going to love The Road, Char!

Sharon/ LFrog1386 (lfrog1386) | 301 comments Christine wrote: "What's that book about?"

It's about a man and his son surviving some apocalyptic disaster (they never say what, but a barren landscape leads one to believe it was nuclear in origin)and trying to get someplace safe. They travel the roads, heading south, in the hope that there is a brighter future ahead of them.

I think reading NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN first is a good idea. Same style, but a little more colorful.
