Jay Crossler (jaycrossler) | 26 comments I'm trying to get started as an author, and have been heavily influenced by S&L and the picks that the community has come up with.

Do you have any rules/guidelines to how we might "write in" links back to the community? Which of these would feel OK to you:
1) Main character using both a sword and a laser
2) Characters commonly having swords and lasers
3) Characters named Thom and Veroynca that each like swords and lasers to different degrees
4) The book title being "Of Swords and Lasers"
5) A series names Swords and Lasers

I'm currently doing #1, and thinking of #2... but thought it'd be an interesting exercise to talk about #3 and #4 and how you view your brand.

I don't plan to ever get famous or have more than 3 people read my work, so it might even be considered Podcast FanFic, but thought I'd ask. :)

Paul Perry (pezski) | 493 comments Good luck with the writing Jay.

I think including all the points sounds like a great idea for a group story, chapters written by various group members in order. If we go down that route please, for the love of Thor and the self respect of all concerned, don't turn it into slashfic...

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe Tamahome is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

Actually, scratch that: a ship will just push us further in the direction of slashfic.

Jay Crossler (jaycrossler) | 26 comments Having everyone write short-stories to a communal S&L world would be quite awesome. Maybe a challenge for http://www.nanowrimo.org/ (November)?
