Just wrote a review!
Evening gang,I finally finished Nemesis. It's certainly a slow burner. Mind you, I've been busy at work and working on one of my own books so I only read it in dribs and drabs. The trouble is, Nesbo chucks so much in that it's easy to lose track of what the hell is going on. That said, I like Harry Hole, though I know plenty who don't (including the wife) but after finishing a Nesbo I always want to reach for something lighter and easier.
Finished Living In The Real Cyprusand really did enjoy it. Very informative and well written it transported me from a dull car journey in pouring rain to a beautiful island in the Med.
Read The Ghost at the Foot of the StairsThen The Unfinished Boy which was a new genre for me(Clock Punk)I really enjoyed this short story which touched my heart and imagination.
Spent an hour or so in the company of an Adele biography while listening to her 19 album on iPod.The author was Neil Simpson but this book isn't linked.
Just finished Thud! and started Wintersmith (Tiffany Aching #3). I'm quite sad to be reaching the end of the Discworld books. Only 4 left
Earlier I finished reading
by Mary Shelley. This novel turned out to be nothing like what I was expecting. I was expecting a generic horror story about a monster but what I got was so much more complex, it's actually quite a philosophical story really. I was extremely surprised and impressed by the actual story itself. I really enjoyed this book and I'm happy I finally got around to reading this classic. My full review is here. I'm planning to read
by Janet Evanovich next.
Just finished a proof read (of something you're going to LOVE!)Just Started Andy Barrett's The Third Rule: Atrocities - first part of another trilogy. He's played another blinder. Starts with a real bang! The Third Rule - Part One: Atrocities
Just finished Stealing Elgar, enjoyed this one much more than long time dead, but would still prefer less charachters and maybe a few pages shorter.Just starting The Bricklayer.Noah Boyd.

Jonathan, ITB is a great book, but he was just getting into his stride - trust me (I'm NOT a doctor!) To The Grave is a new order of magnitude!
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Kindle gave up, so having to read a DTB called Death Bringer - Derek Landy"As my kindle approaches Christmas Day and the end of the warranty period I am getting increasingly nervous!
Just about to start The Casual Vacancy for Book Club. I'm not looking forward to it, hopefully I'll have it read before Tuesday's meeting.
Ignite wrote: "I've had mine 2 years Matthew - they aren't all programed to explode on their first anniversary!"According to Anne Thingy on "Watchdog" Amazon say the Kindle has a 3 year life-span!
They never mentioned that on the website! My first one blew up after 9 months.
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Matthew, have you had any problems and complained?"No, none at all. My kindle works perfectly! But i'm expecting it to fail catastrophically once my warranty expires - call me cynical all you want!
I have heard good things about amazon's customer service regarding kindles though, which makes sense as ultimately they want you to have a kindle so that you can buy more books!

Jonathan, ITB is a great book, but he was just get..."
Just getting into his stride? Blimey - I'm not sure I can wheel out any more superlatives!
ITB is so well plotted that I could easily read it again. And I don't often return to books.
I can say (because I've had a sneaky peeky) that his third, although slightly different - no historic narrative - has in no way let him down either!
Ignite wrote: "I can say (because I've had a sneaky peeky) that his third, although slightly different - no historic narrative - has in no way let him down either!"I'm not usually a jealous person but in this case I'll make an exception ;@)
Ah Sarah - I'm jealous of you now - I will never read it for the first time again - you still have that joy to come!Just finished Andy Barrett's stunning The Third Rule - Part One: Atrocities and I understand he hopes to publish parts 2 and 3 over the next couple of days. I do hope so. It's the sort of story you can't clear from your mind. It's exciting and crime/thrillery of course, but it's so deep and it grabbed my emotions and I can't let it go. I don't think I can face another book till I find out what happens to these people.
Indeed! I have the first one but I am not reading it until I have the next two! I know what the last series did to me, I just could not stop until I had read all three right off. So quick Andy I can't wait much longer. It can be my present to me.
Just finished and really loved A Street Cat Named Bob: How One Man and His Cat Found Hope on the StreetsNot sure what I shall read next ,too late tonight to decide so will decide in morning
Pat (Scorpio) wrote: "Indeed! I have the first one but I am not reading it until I have the next two! I can assure you that this one will grab you tighter than 'Dead' by a long way. He can put lumps in my throat more than anyone I can think of. Can't start anything new till I read those!
Just finished
It was a struggle. Will post review today.
Not sure what to read next. Either
or
Home Land

There's too many things I want to read next.I had 3 on the go this week.
I just finished Linda Gruchy's Gladiatrix (on a sneak pre-peek and typo check lol)
It is certainly different to her other books and I don't think it was quite my cup of tea, although now I've finished it, I'm still thinking of it.
I'm now reading Shattered by Karl Jones. I'd started it a week ago, read about 15% then went back to it, but I refused to start it again. It's a good read so far. It does remind me of Linda's Elversford books, which is good as I like them
Have at last finished Restoration which was Ok, so now want something different. Will be starting Death of an Old Git tonight. An irresistible title!
In case anyone's NOT got the picture, I'll just say I'm starting Part 2 of The Third Rule by Andy Barrett which is so newly out it hasn't a GR link!http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Third-Rul...
Finished The Old Ways: A Journey On Foot a little while ago, but only just found time to review it. A wonderful read. The prose is outstanding, poetic in places. Just reading again Rebecca.
