I read that last year, but must have forgotten to review it. It's a 3 star, 'quirky' on my database, so I must have enjoyed reading it.

Started and finished Grace by Shaun Adams and Emma Shaun. A short read of just over 100 pages,needs some tidying up but was a terrific read,first part of a memoir trilogy set in Padstow.
Started and finished Bighugs, Love and Beer Every poem a true gem.Wow!

Just (last night) finished The Black Conspiracy by Ken Magee. It's blimmin' marvellous! I read Dark Tidings, the earlier book in the series which sets the scene and starts the adventure, and was really excited when TBC came out. Magic, Big Banking and the Internet - Wow! What an imagination. Some of the characters are just fabulous. Highly recommended.

Started Quilt by Nicholas Royle and yet again can't find a link,I think my choices are just too obscure!
Gave up on this one at 20% as I just couldn't understand where the author was going and I was losing the will to live!
Started The 24 Hour Jazz Cafe as I had read and enjoyed a previous book by this author.This one is even better!

Just finished The Absolutist which I loved. An almost unbearably moving story of trench life in World War I and repressed homosexuality.

Just started and finished a three page short story which I got for free. The author is charging 77p for it now and it's, well, not very good. I won't name and shame it, but 77p for a single tiny story?

Hope you enjoy the Jazz Cafe, it's my favourite of all my books. Plus all the settings are real so if I end up famous they could set up a tour in Morecambe! The follow up should be out by the end of the year.

I finished by Donald McCaig earlier today. Basically the storyline of the novel is Gone With the Wind from Rhett Butler's point of view and it was a bit of a disappointment really. Gone With the Wind is one of my favourite novels and I found all the characters in RBP, even the major ones of Rhett and Scarlett, are out of character. There is also a lot of errors that contradict the original, characters dying when they lived in GWTW and vice versa, Melanie knowing about Scarlet being in love with her husband, etc. As a standalone historical fiction novel, Rhett Butler's People is okay but as a complement to Gone With the Wind it sucks!

Now I'm about to start by Diane Chamberlain.

Started a novella The Hare and the Gallows Tree I am half way through and really enjoying this,my fourth book by this terrific author.

I finished Anna Karenina it was alright, think it might be one where the movie is better than the book. I then read How Much Does A Pole Dancer Earn? just for the craic and cause it was free, then I read The Last Continent which I think is my favourite Rincewind/Wizard book so far and now I've started Carpe Jugulum which I am also loving.

The Pratchett books have so many references in Jud; I'm sure I missed loads.
There are references to Jannie Wurtz' (sp?) 'Empire' books in Interesting times that just cracked me up. Not only does he write huge amounts, he must read voraciously too.

Just finished Grow Up
My blog review:
This book was a fast and enjoyable read.  It won't be for everyone due to the frank talk of sex and drugs but those who read it will be entertained.
 
Jasper is a teenager and the book is an account of a small section of his life, dealing with his impending exams, friends, sex, drugs, and alcohol.  He also thinks his step-father is a murderer!  The dialogue is realistic and the prose is well-written.  The author uses some wonderful expressions and gives descriptions in bizarre ways that actually work when you think about them.  The book is also funny and the humour lends warmth to the lead character.
 
I can say my teenage years were nothing at all like in this book, but I understand it is closely based on the author, who wrote the book when he was barely out of his own teenage years.  If this material sounds your bag, you will enjoy the book.  An entertaining read.

I finished Carpe Jugulum (one of my favs so far!), read The Importance of Being Earnest (I didn't realise this was a play but I thoroughly enjoyed it, short and sweet and also very witty) and started The Fifth Elephant
