This morning I finished The Ghost Rock Cafe - Chinle Miller. Now I think I will read Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins.

Just finished Skyler West's exciting They Won't Be Missed. It seemed a little bit mid-atlantic if you know what I mean. About an American town but sounded British. However, the story is a cracking high-level conspiracy/mystery/thriller thingy that I enjoyed very much. I've done little else all day (except knit but I can do them both at once!)
Snap! Finished They Won't Be Missedand like Ignite was rather confused re the setting. Didn't spoil my enjoyment however.Plenty action and intrigue.Read Freaksshort but punchy with a terrific climax.
Started Milking the Rhino: Dangerously Funny Lists as I fancied something funny,I have smiled a few times but no belly busting giggles as yet and I am 50% in!
Sarah - Skyler had sorted the setting and the 'Britishness' out and the new version is up. Should make it an easier read for those who follow us!

Oh, I just loved American Gods. So clever.
Nearly finished 66 degs North. Almost gave up a few times but it kept grabbing me just as I was giving in. so many directions, kept looseing who and where it was going. I will finish it but don't think I'll buy any more by him.
Finished now. Nothing to add.
Just finished From Aberystwyth with Love, a terrific read - sort of Douglas Adams/Terry Pratchett with a dash of Blackadder. Love his use of language and of course the Welsh setting. For something completely different, off to start Falling to Pieces: A Quilt Shop Murder

You know Ignite, I didn't think it was as well written as some of his other stuff. Neverwhere was much, much better IMO
Ignite wrote: "Sarah - Skyler had sorted the setting and the 'Britishness' out and the new version is up. Should make it an easier read for those who follow us!"Brilliant!
In fact, I changed the first sentence of my review. I didn't think it fair to leave that comment in since he's chnaged it. I think it's a great story.
I've said elsewhere that I listened to David's Timeline and to Rosen's A Royal Mess whilst ironing.Folks, you gotta read them both. Brilliant, the both of them. I've read quite a lot of Rosen's stuff and have enjoyed it all.
It was my first David book. Has definitely whetted my appetite for more of his stuff.

Put aside Milking the Rhino and started The Dawning I could hardly bear to put it down this morning, terrific!
I finished Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage yesterday and started reading Coffee, Tea, the Gypsy & Me today. It's light undemanding reading which is just right at the mo as I am crocheting almost full time at the mo and it's hard to concentrate on much else.

Now reading and hugely enjoying, Jacquelynn Luben's Tainted Tree. She's got a lovely 'voice' when writing.
Just finished
interesting facts, ome of which I knew and some I didn't. Loved the story at the end. Silver Tabbies rule! No I don't have one only brown.
Just finished Jacqui Luben's Tainted Tree. Really good story, twist at the end, very gripping and a bit of romance too.

Managed to do quite a bit of reading with being away this weekend - finished A Hint of Murder: The Anthology while at the airport (Apologies Faith for giving it the wrong title before!!), quite enjoyed it. Then started The Children of the Fog while on the plane, another enjoyable read, just disappointed that it finished at 59%. Will try her other books though
And finally managed to start Cruel Instinct by Mel Comley - again, enjoying it, and definitely going to read the rest of the series.
Looks like that is it for my Goodreads month - disappointed that there are some authors I didn't get to read, but have read more than other months and have read some fantastic books. Next month will be a slow month as I am reading paperbacks!!
Just finished the first book in the series
Very good Werewolf/Vampire series. It does stop dead at 92% but I did enjoy it.
Just finished Bébé by Steve Roach. shortish novella which addresses violence and anger. Like watching a road accident, you can't look away! Not pleasant but well worth a read.Just started The Gestalt Man as recommended by Kath. 15% and very good so far.
Just finished Hilda Hopkins: The day of the Mobots by Vivienne Fagan. 7Th episode of the adventures of Hilda Hopkins, serial knitter and serial killer. I would not have thought it possible for any author to successfully create an amusing series of books about a serial killer - but this author has done so.

I read the first of these when it was free - must try the others.

Thanks Desley, I hope you enjoy the rest of Cruel Justice :-)I'm 40% through The Kult by Shaun, not had time to read much this week because of the hot water situation. But I'm enjoying it so far, very blood-thirsty though. :-)
Yes, apologies for the wrong title!! I'm up to 94%, and just annoyed that I have spent most of my lunchbreak on hold to car insurance companies, so wont get to finish it till i get home.

A Bloody Good Secret Enjoyed. again stopped dead at 93%"
92% or 93% is good. I have read ones that are only 60% or 70% - & one that was only 45%. Needless to say those authors are ones that are not at the top of my TBR list.
One of the latest book that I have read was
which took me a while because I kept leaving it to play solitaire or tidy out my cupboards. Not that it was boring - just that there were a few things that niggled me about it.
It wasn't so much that it ended at 93% but that they both stopped dead! I turned the page expecting more but it was the end. A cliff hanger is fine but a comment, full stop, to my mind is a bit abrupt. I will continue on, at least I will expect it with the next one.
Desley wrote: "Yes, apologies for the wrong title!! I'm up to 94%, and just annoyed that I have spent most of my lunchbreak on hold to car insurance companies, so wont get to finish it till i get home."Oh no! :-(
Finished
really good, a tad graphic even for me in parts. Going to start a romance now I think
it's by Lyn Horner an author I met on the Meet the Author forum. :-)
I did enjoy Cruel Justice and would read more in the series - will do my review tomorrow. now starting a month of paperbacks with one I bought a year ago, Burial by Neil Cross.
Finished The Dawning a superb book that takes place over one New Years night as a whole family goes into meltdown.Enjoyed it so much I went straight to her next book The Lives of Ghosts Didn't enjoy this one quite so much but the author writes beautifully,so descriptive you can just visualize the scenes in the plot. Books are set in the Peak District.
I've finished the 9th book in the Stephanie Plum series (and the best one so far)
by Janet Evanovich. Now I'm reading
by Donald McCaig. It's Gone With the Wind from Rhett Butler's point of view.
Just finished Seesaw which I loved. The author can write comically and dramatically. Lots here including relationships, mental health, a kidnapped child and a dead dog! Entertaining and emotional.
M wrote: "Finished

as it is on my TBR list. It is a long list so I keep having a sweep through to delete any that I probably won't read.
Finished The Gestalt Man- wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped to be. Started David Wailing's new short Friend Request. Another about his 10-years-in-the-future world and the reliance people put on their 'autophones'.
I finished A Lineage of Grace it was nice but not great. I didn't read the study questions at the end of each story either as it was very obviously from the authors view (as she states herself). I felt the writing was very out of context for the time period, it just didn't seem to fit, especially the dialogue. I like the dialogue to fit what I expect from the period the book is set in.Was still good though, a bit like The Red Tent in the sense it makes you think about the women in well known bible stories which usually focus on the men.
Started Letters to My Wife about a widower who starts a blog writing letters to his dead wife much to the disgust of his grown-up children. It is not a depressing read and even quite funny in parts.
Just finished Friend Request by David Wailing. Its another set in his imagined future. Very good.Just started Philip Whiteland's Jambalaya
Jay-me (Janet) ~plum chutney is best~ wrote: "M wrote: "Finished

Finished Letters to My Wife Got well past the halfway point when suddenly the book touched rather too close to RL. I paused for a while then decided to continue but the book had by then taken on a whole new meaning for me. The ending brought a very unexpected twist which thankfully distracted me again.I wept buckets as I finished but still stick by my original opinion that this is far from being a depressing read but more life and love affirming.
