Just finished - just started
I've just finished reading Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner and I'm planning on starting Hard Eight by Janet Evanovich next.
Ignite wrote: "Good lass. It'll come back when you're not so pushed."I do hope so, Ignite. I used to read a book a day even when I worked full-time.
Just finished Cruel Justice - Very good: enjoyed it immensely. Will start Armageddon: The Musical in a couple of days.
I've just finished reading Must Love Dogs which was ok.
Now I'm reading The Hating Game which even just a few pages in, I am already enjoying much more!

FinishedA Long Time Dead and thoroughly enjoyed it.Started Wish You Were (Not) HereI got this anthology free the other day and it is really well written IMO.
Pat (Scorpio) wrote: "Just finished Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead Light funny tale. Easy to read bit of fun"ive got that on my tbr list for october (halloween themed.. ish......)
Ignite, how do you like The Farda? I know someone else who read it and wasn't crazy about it. I have yet to read it myself.
Sarah, you started long time dead at the same time as me,i'm only 11% in and really struggling, but i am not going to give up.I'm hoping that it picks up.
Jason wrote: "Ignite, how do you like The Farda? I know someone else who read it and wasn't crazy about it. I have yet to read it myself."I loved it. You can read my review here or on Amazon. I liked the sense of humour, the relationship built up between a talking spider and a man who hadn't had any experience of relationships - and the ending was a humdinger! Short and sweet, it was.
Over the past couple of days I have read and finished Mid Life Crisis - William Mwendwa and Three's Company - William Mwendwa. Now I am reading Taken - Charlotte Abel.
(hugs) Fiona! Lovely to see you, darling!Dead chuffed I am. Managed to read about ten pages of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy before I fell asleep this afternoon!
I miss reading properly. :(

Just downloaded the follow up
Just finished The Man From U.N.D.E.A.D. - The Curious Case Of The Kidnapped Chemist on the way to work this morning, and cleared the first couple of chapters of The Cambridge List.
I loved both of those Andrew. I'm currently reading Ruins of the Mind: An Anthology by Jason Stadtlander - 21% and I love it. I'm not far off finishing The Red Tent for the group read too.
Lorraine - roll on the new season wrote: "Sarah, you started long time dead at the same time as me,i'm only 11% in and really struggling, but i am not going to give up.I'm hoping that it picks up."It does pick up Lorraine and by 50% I couldn't put it down, dastardly deeds indeed:@)
I'm still reading It. Been busy lately with my own writing so have not had chance to read every day. It's such a big big book! I also read http://www.amazon.co.uk/Right-Behind-... in one sitting. It was a good gripping read even though I guessed the twist half way through.
Better not start anything new then! I'm still persisting with the village Book Club read. Not bad but other things intervene!
I've just finished reading The Hating Game which was very good and am now reading White Lies and Custard Creams which I am enjoying so far - quite zany!
I'm having a run on reading "our" authors and thought I'd pick some which have been lurking on my kindle for ages.

I read White Lies and Custard Creamsabout a year ago. There was one bit that amused me, unfortunately I read it in the morning & I was hard pressed to stop laughing out loud when the picture popped into my head. Not a good thing when there isn't anything obvious that you could be laughing at. (view spoiler)
Just read Jason Stadtlander's Ruins of the Mind: An Anthology. It's short stories and every one is a gem - you can't often say that! He has a thread here - he's a stunning writer and has a penchant for a little mystic moment or two in there. This is certainly a book you shouldn't miss.
Finished Wish You Were (Not) HereStarted and finished another book of short stories by Nicola Thorne, The Pride of the School and other Tales of Convent Life. Afraid there is no link for this one.

Now I've finished The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. A really good story but the improbable total self destructiveness of the girl drove me to want to slap somone. It would probably have been the author!Nonetheless, a tremendous read.
Have just finished the stunning beautiful State of Wonder - yet another from last year's TBR pile which I hadn't got round to reading (cr*p title). Can I just say, her descriptions of insects of the biting kind are just sublime... and in this wet summer of ours, v apposite. I'd just give a mention to Marina's arrival at the airport... for which read, my Beloved Other Half opening the back door before heading down the garden... '... every insect in the Amazon lifted its head from the leaf it was masticating and turned a slender antenna in her direction. She was a snack plate, a buffet line...'Yep, this book has my 4 star rating.
Have now at last, yippee, made a start on Steve's In the Blood - gripped me from the start, and even better, we've been a few times to Mawnam Smith to visit the wonderful Trebah gardens and Glendurrgan, so we have a keen interest in this area

Tee hee - that bit made me laugh too!
I'm now reading Susan Alison's other book,
All His Own Hair which I am also really enjoying. It's a more serious tale than White Lies and Custard Creams but very well written.
Some of the best books that I've read lately have been by "our" authors.

Just finished Island Life by William Meikle. Here's my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Will wrote: "With Armageddon awaited from Royal mail, I'm getting into the mood with Da-da-de-da-da Code"That's one I haven't read. Be interested in your take on it...
I've read it a few times, and thoroughly enjoy it. But to understand it, yu have to be prepared to pick up on the gags Rankin runs over several books. It works for me because of the music correlations...
I've finished reading All His Own Hair and loved it.
Now I'm reading The Spanish Helmet which I'm also enjoying, an adventure tale!

This evening I finished Taken - Charlotte Abel and have to wait til September to read the finale and find out what happens next lol. Now I am reading Ignite - Z.L. Arkadie which is book 5 of the series.
I've finished Hard Eight by Janet Evanovich and now I've started The Lost Daughter by Diane Chamberlain.
Please say how you get on with The Lost Daughter, Ellie. I gave up on it at about 30% but may revisit it, if you think it's worthwhile.I've enjoyed other Diane Chamberlain books but that one wasn't doing it for me at the time.

Ignite gave a glowing review to She Looks Pale a while ago and I had it on my wishlist since then. It went free the other day and I snapped it right up!I can confirm it's just as brilliant as Ignite says. I gave it a well earned 5 stars. Very enjoyable!
I started Dangerous Tides last night.
I've picked up some good tips on the bits of this thread I've read so I thought I'd add my two pennies worth...Just finished the Trylle trilogy by Amanda Hocking - liked it well enough but struggled in that I didn't have much love for the main character. It didn't make me want to read through the night.
I'm still battling through Game of Thrones, on the insistence of my husband, and reading the odd story from the aforementioned Ruins of the Mind when I really can't face Game of Thrones.
Oh and trying to decide which of the many YA and/or paranormal romance's I've downloaded to get obsessed with next. Something with at least 3 parts to get stuck into would be nice.
I love Game of Thrones, Sarah!! Didn't think it was the kind of book you could dip in and out of though, I struggled enough at the start remembering who was who and I read it continuously. Have you seen the TV series?
Yeah I really enjoyed the show, only watched the first series so far though. Want to read the book first this time as I prefer it that way round.I do think it's a great book but that I'd enjoy it more if I didn't know what was going to happen! I'd find it much more exciting and would have been nervous for the characters I love, if you know what I mean. It's different when you know where it's going.
I'd love reading it if I was back in my old routine of reading on the bus in private but now I'm not working over the summer I'm having to read with constant interruptions from a four year old so prefer lighter reading.
Definitely looking forward to no. 2 but may take a break until September when the little one will have started school!
