Just finished - just started
Stuart wrote: "Just finished: Ask the DustJust started: Frankenstein"
I read Frankenstein recently. I have never seen any of the films or read the book before. It was quite sad.
Just started The Paris Wife, the fictional autobiography of Ernest Hemingway's first wife. I don't usually read fictional autobiographies (or Hemingway), but so far, so good.
I just finished
and am still reading
will prob finish that before I start anything else on my kindle, no idea what I'll read next anyway.
Finished Cornilius Harker's 'Words to the Wise, Book One' - incredible stuff. Have downloaded book two, and also started by way of contrast, Josh Stalling's 'The Beautiful, the Naked, and the Dead'. And very impressed I am by it so far :)And, Stu. You'll love Frankenstein . . .
Can I be cheeky Ian (well, I'm going to anyway!) and ask if you'd put a review on Amazon for WttW. Book two, by the way, is even better.Words to the Wise
Just finishedDead Connectionthe first hard back i've read since getting my kindle.Next is Vanishing Pointwhich is released tomorrow
I've just finished reading A Proper Charlie which I enjoyed. Chick lit but with deeper themes to it.
Now I'm reading A Dog Named Slugger which is a lovely read.

I finished A Dog Named Slugger this morning - couldnt finish it in my lunchbreak yesterday, although not due to time. Really really enjoyed it, you are very lucky to be just starting it Kew. Am now going to read Titanic by Filson Young.
Just finished The Birds by Daphne du Maurier. Excellent story that really captures the feeling of terror. The Birds
Just finished The Ninth Life of Louis Drax by Liz Jensen. I really enjoyed it. Just started Londoners: The Days and Nights of London Now--As Told by Those Who Love It, Hate It, Live It, Left It, and Long for It which is very good.
Have just emerged from icy postwar Berlin of Pavel & I which was an amazing book - John le Carre territory and then some - it transcends the spy genre and becomes truly a love story - and the writing style is terrific. Not a word out of place. The book was mentioned on radio 4's 'a good read' where they read out the passage about the cats in the snow... and the blood. Terrific stuff. A really meaty book - in many senses. Now off to read something lightweight and totally different! oh the joy of books.
I finished Shaun's Dark Seduction last night and started Re Awakenings, an anthology of Speculative Fiction,
I've just finished Hot Six by Janet Evanovich, now I'm reading Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.
Back (for a brief visit) and while away I read Roulette by David Wailing - brilliant - must read more of his writing. I also read A Brother's Debt by Karl Jones. don't know what I'll read next - still grandchild minding!
Just finished Londoners: The Days and Nights of London Now--As Told by Those Who Love It, Hate It, Live It, Left It, and Long for It. It was great. Next up Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children as I'm reviewing it on my blog.
Just finished Dragon Bound loved the story but it had me blush a few times. I thought J R Ward was a little naughty but Thea Harrison is in a League of her own. I am no prude but thought some of the sex scenes went a bit over the top. I really didn't need so much detail. Loved the story though and will read the next book. Just about to start Bang by David Wailing. Sorry cant find link for some reason.
I've just finished reading An Angel With Fur which I enjoyed to start with but then the poor dog is put through a harsh cancer treatment routine so most of the book deals with the dog's suffering. Not sure that it wouldn't have been more loving to put the dog to sleep rather than subject him to all that...?
Now I've just started The Botticelli Secret.

Finished Part 1 and Part 2 of Poison Oak Summer - absolutely gripping. I'm a quarter of the way into Part 3.
Just finished Sibel's
a fun read. Just started
it's nicely written but 12% in and it's not grabbing me. ;-)
Just finishedThe Wayward Apprentice a quick read set in 13th century England and going to read his other book Baynard's List
Just finished. Didn't think it was as good as the first book, but better than some I'v read.
Going to start
next
Mo wrote: "Just finishedThe Wayward Apprentice a quick read set in 13th century England and going to read his other book Baynard's List"Thanks for the reminder, Mo. I enjoyed 'Wayward Apprentice' too, and wouldn't mind reading another of his. Off to download.
Now, I know I said I was going for something lightweight and different after Pavel & I, well, I got distracted. I am now into
Monstrumwhich so far is excellent - a not-too-distant future Russia and a deranged serial killer...
edit... not sure that a serial killer would be anything other than deranged. Does 'deranged' have an opposite?
I hope you enjoy Poison Oak Pat. I found it a really easy but gripping story. He has a very accessible style. I've just started Sick Sad Little World by Ian Canning - I picked it up from browsing the Amazon Meet Our Authors forum. Sick Sad Little World. The original idea of a man going down into a mental decline as his world fell apart around him sounded interesting. However, the writing is so dire I am getting badly annoyed. Stuff like threw' when he means 'through' for example.
Ignite wrote: "Karen, maybe the opposite of deranged is arranged? I wish I could arrange my mind!"Daft, isn't it.. I often wonder what the opposite of a word is. Like uncouth. Or ungainly. Must have used 'couth' and 'gainly' once upon a time... sorry, am cluttering up the thread, must get my mind better arranged :)
If Shakespeare can make up words why can't we? Lets start using 'couth' and 'gainly' and even 'ruthful'
I used to have a teacher known as 'The Couth Maker' because uncouth students were sent to him to be disciplined!
Just finished Shadows & Voices, which I enjoyed. Currently reading Abide with Me and Pied and Prodigious. An unusual combination, I know!
I finished Gray Justice which I really enjoyed half of. It had two intertwined plots, which was done really well but one of which I just didn't enjoy.I've now started The Survival of Thomas Ford Only about 5% in but the beginning bodes well for the rest of the book.
Hopefully I'll not have engineers and such underfoot tomorrow so I can finally get some proper reading in.
I just finished The Fifth Servant set in the Jewish quarter of 16th century Prague. Great details about the place and Jewish custom, but I was a little disappointed with how overwhelmed the story got at times by the information he had researched. An interesting book in any case. Here's my review.
I just finished The Wizard of Time which was amazing! If you like fantasy you should read this cause it's great! Haven't decided what to read next, I'm tempted by The King's Speech: How One Man Saved the British Monarchy, The Imperfect Tense and the sample for Poison Oak Summer
Just finished the 3 books that make up Poison Oak Summer and found it to be a really intriguing read.Started Election of Patriots by Andre Jute (sorry can't get a link)
