Just finished - just started

Blood Tears
Seems to be sequel too.
Blood Lament
Blurbs aren't great, are they?

I've also read Blood Lament which I also enjoyed.

I read Tiaras...etc a while back. It was okay but not quite what I was hoping for. I'm interested to hear what you think."
I've finished Tiaras and Tantrums: Twenty-five Years in Service at Kedleston Hall and I did find it interesting but I was disgusted by the way that the Curzon's treated their servants - as if they were machine and it was an inconvenient nuisance to them if they broke down (ie - worked themselves to illness keeping up with their unreasonable demands!) grrrr. They weren't contributing anything at all to society, it made me angry.
I'm reading another memoir now (I do enjoy these as I'm interested in history and what better source than peoples own experiences!), There's a calf in the sitting room.... which I'm finding very well written so far.

Can't get it out of my head

Have you read Carl Ashmore's books - The Time Hunters, Bernard and the Bibble and The Night they Nicked Saint Nick?
The Time Hunters
Bernard and the Bibble
The Night They Nicked Saint Nick

I found the slang really entertaining and I enjoyed working it out by reading it aloud when on occasion I was struggling. It meant that all the characters sounded Scottish as I read 9which was guid - lol), although as I'd seen the film, they did sound a lot like Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlisle et al.

Has anyone read the Barney Thomson books by Douglas Lindsay?
They're comedy murder books about a Scottish barber.

I've read the first Barney Thomson book and the rest are on my ever growing TBR list.

Haha! Love it!

I think you must be getting me muddled up with the other Simon Patti.
(Dotty, quick, untie Vanessa).

Not sure about black bess though. Horses are nasty bitey things that kick and eat your trebor mint.

You turned around a bit quick when you were wearing those chaps...I think you're supposed to wear trousers under them.

Have you read Nevil Shute's autobiography, Slide Rule, about his life before he became a full time author. It's a fascinating story of the aviation industry during the 1930's as he was employed by deHaviland and worked on the R100 airship.

I'm about to start Shirley Mckay's Hue and Cry which I have high hopes of, because I read a sample and was drawn in straight away. It's a while since I sat down with a historical murder mystery and this one looks like a nice solid one.

Hope you enjiy it too.

I just finished The Magician's Nephew and have started The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Have never read these before and am really enjoying LWW so far. Am a little confused though is the witch from the Magicians Nephew meant to be the white witch who is now in Narnia!?! I don't know but I assume so

I read the series ago. Can't remember what happens in magican's nephew...

It tells you how narnia was created and how the lampost got there and how the wardrobe was created and why it leads to narnia

The first couple of books were made into films recently, I think.
Can't remember the witch, sorry.
I'm brain dead. Going to take my kindle to bed before I fall over...

I haven't read the books for years, but I did read them over and over in the past. Yes, the witch from Magician's Nephew did turn out to be the White Witch in Narnia!

plus i was 15, read them in Romanian...i am sure there was a lot lost in translation...

Just started The Quiche of Death. It's not really grabbing me so far. But that could be something to do with the fact that it is my first DTB I've read since I got my Kindle and I am finding it a little weird going back to a normal book.

I read The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe

If you like vampire books that are not like the YA sort can I suggest Blood Tears by Raven Dane. Included in the story is how vampires, or dark kind, helped in WW2. I found it very good and only 86p.
Sorry I can't do a link to Amazon UK.
