Phil was a member of the lifeboat crew when we lived in Nofolk. There was a lot of 'socialising' involved.lol.
I wish I had bought Mummydaddy. Knew I'd regret not getting it but don't have the money in my account just now
Finished Phone Monkey.Started and finished Darla's Deceit and Passion, Fire and Furynow almost 50% through Mummydaddy.
In the end I decided to read Mark of the Dragon Queen. I loved it! Can't wait to read Katie's other book. Started reading Lolita
I started Abide with Me this afternoon. Only about 20% in so far but WOW!You lot have got to read this one so we can all talk about it.

Just finished Mistress of the Vatican: The True Story of Olimpia Maidalchini: The Secret Female Pope - brilliant! Just started Hystera - so far, so good.
Ok Patti - Abide with Me will be my next read. I'm just finishing Ripple by Tui Allenhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Ripple-Dolphi...
It's a beautiful, amazing story - wasn't too sure at first but suspension of disbelief came very fast and I lived with those dolphins. Tui's desciptive powers are enviable.
Just finished Djibouti by Elmore Leonard. Never thought I'd be disappointed by an Elmore Leonard book, but oh man ...Just started Tartare by M. Trevelean.
Been down at mum & dad's since this morning - bro was over for the footie. Homemade soup for lunch and Toad in the Hole for tea. Still managed to read Earth Magic whilst the Chelsea match was on TV. Started archiving books after that - all those cookbooks will be better on a laptop. (If I ever decide to cook anything)
Yay!!! I cannot wait til more of you have read Abide With Me. It has gne up there with one of my all time favourites!! There is a recommendation thread already when someone else wants to chat about it x
Yeah, I'll finally have to sort out the spoilers thing.Think I'll have to pm Ian. I already have so many things I want to say to him about it!

He'll be so chuffed that you like it so much. Seriously one of the nicest people I have ever met :-)
Yeah I just text him to ask but he hasn't responded yet! He would be happy if he only sold one copy and the two I bought made about 7 already at about 12 o clock. He was gonna be there all day!!
I just posted my review on Amazon, thought my paperback might have been delivered today but no such luck.finished Mummydaddy still deciding what to read next.
He is now #132 in the paid chart, that is just amazing! I bought 2 copies of the paperbacks today. He signed them both (one with a message for me) and the other one is for me to lend out to people (there is no way on earth I will lend out the one with the message in!!)
Patti (Perky Pineapple) wrote: "Oh. Just reread my post. I wouldn't have the restraint you've shown if you'd posted that!Lmao!"
GL is very restrained...........................
no that is not right she uses restraints
in her dungeon......................
I have been visiting a friend, so the 5 hours travelling meant I managed to read a decent amount. Finished Hostile Witness before I went, the ending was great, and certainly didn't see that one coming. I struggled to get into it, but think that was just with what I had on at the time. Then read The Flinch - dont know why I downloaded it, the synopsis doesn't really indicate to me what kind of book it is, and I wouldnt have bought a self help book - the cover was fantastic though. IF you want a self help book that will take about 15 mins to read, it might be worth it. Then read While the Savage Sleeps by Andrew Kaufman - absolutely fantastic read, would definitely recommend it, and well worth the £1.97 he is now charging. Nice, sleepy town that has a series of bizarre murders - very descriptive murders too. Another one where you didn't see the ending coming, but a very good ending, hard to imagine it is a debut book. There is also an excerpt from his next book, which is definitely on my wish list for when my tbr list is shorter.
Now reading Suger and Spice by Saffina Desforges - as it is a nice day, I should get a decent way into that.
I finished Shadowland. It could have been much better with proofing (and I'd have suggested some edits too) but it's an interesting take on an old tale.Just started An Orc Not Like Others by Our Lad Darren after recommendations here. I can see why they recommended it! I love a different viewpoint and this really is!
Edit - I did notice, incidentally, that the 3 existing 5* reviews for Shadowlands were from people who had't posted a review of anything before. I think he's just got his first honest review!
As a late comer to the 'loving our authors' challenge that Lorraine started, I've been focussing on reading books from the authors in this group. I read some short stories Beat on the Brat and Other Stories in the week which were great. This meant I had Cruel Justice #1 for the weekend. I've figured that I need time to read Mel's books because they can't be put down once I start reading them. If you like crime fiction you will love Mel's books.I've now started Flux.
I've just finished reading Snowball Oranges: One Mallorcan Winter which I enjoyed, and the weather today helped with the ambience of imagining myself in Mallorca!

I've just finished An Orc Not Like Others by Darren. It could have been fairy-tale, Beauty and the Beast, Shreck. It SO was not! What a hard hitting story this is, just below the surface. It made me think of the "Am I not a Man and a Brother?" quotation and picture. Darren can write funny fluffy stuff but he can't half write deep stuff too.
Finished The Wayward Apprenticelast night, a good read, well researched, and Shropshire based, so I'm happy. Going to start The Gift of Rain this evening - the garden could certainly do with some
Just finished the first part of this trilogy by J Carson Black's
She certainly gives Karen Rose a run for her money!
Finally finished The Truce - E. Milan. Now I think I will read The Guardian's Apprentice - J. Michael Radcliffe.
Just finished Floaters Most unusual twist and turn to this one. Not a 'normal' way of plotting. Enjoyed much by me.
I finished Sugar and Spice last night, i really enjoyed it but there were quite a few annoying errors. I then read Within by Joshua Schriber but a bit short and confusing for my liking
Just finished Darren's new book. You must read it. It should be required reading before you can consider yourself a grown-up and I speak as one who's been considered that for some long time. Goodnight Dear: The Unsentimental Diary Of A Bereaved HusbandWhat do you start after that? I'll let you know.
Started and finished Goodnight Dear: The Unsentimental Diary Of A Bereaved Husband definitely leaves you with alot to think about.
I finished reading Tornado Spring (illustrated) which was a nice read but not what I was expecting. I thought that it would be about the tornados, instead it was someone's travel diary.
Now I'm reading Goodnight Dear: The Unsentimental Diary Of A Bereaved Husband. It's compelling reading but I need a bit of a break.. I would recommend this to everyone!

Now I'm reading something much lighter which I'm enjoying very much. Don't Look Behind You!: A Safari Guide's Encounters with Ravenous Lions, Stampeding Elephants, and Lovesick Rhinos. It's a light, fun read that you can pick up and put down.
