Yes it is a terrific read.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just finished Ancient Revenge by JF Lourens. Can't say it did much for me and the poor language and use of the wrong word in many cases piddled me off big time.
Just starting Garden of Dreams by J Strand which I picked up from the Amazon MOA forum. Short story really but we'll see how it goes.

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Put asideAgainst All Oddspersevered till 50% but too repetitive and depressing!
Started United Kingdom of Islam as I feel in the need of some escapism and gore!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Finished Garden of Dreams - strange but not bad (and very short!) Started Service of the Heir by Lexie Conyngham. Lovely prose style - very nice indeed.

I've just finished two books - Return Of The Runaway Bride which I enjoyed and a short story by Margaret Lake Regan O'Reilly, Private Investigator which I also enjoyed. Now I'm nearly half way through Sibel's new Amber Fox story, Voodoo Deadly (not on goodreads yet) and I think it is the best of the series so far.

:0)

I enjoyed this mix of murder and gardening a lot. I will read the next one soon.
Have started Season of Storms now. Not certain of it yet not enough read.

message 1668: by [deleted user] (new)

I've finished reading Voodoo Deadlyand thoroughly enjoyed it. I was a little worried about the voodoo aspect as I don't like reading paranormal books, but it wasn't a paranormal story at all! It is mystery, chick lit, funny and well written. I have enjoyed the other books in the series but this one is my favourite so far.

Then I read some trash - Romance of Broken Hearts (not on goodreads and not worth adding), the story was ok, run of the mill romance but the formatting was one of the worst that I have come across - no paragraphs and random numbers inserted in the text, typos, missing words and strange symbols.

message 1671: by Lyra (new)

Lyra | 34 comments Just finished Climbing the Stairs which was I thought a disappointing sequel to Below Stairs: The Classic Kitchen Maid's Memoir That Inspired "Upstairs, Downstairs" and "Downton Abbey"

( I see a marketing ploy in that write up! I wonder if it did)

half way through I Left My Tent In San Francisco which I am really enjoying although I let the cover put me off for ages ! its really good.

Inspired - got the sample for Tollesbury Time Forever :D

Pat () | -245 comments Just finished Season of Storms
For me it started slowly. Then gathered pace and finished with a couple of twists I hadn't seen coming. Enjoyable read.

Now reading Only the Innocent
Very good start so far.

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Morning folks,

I've just started (in the last week or so) the new Peter James novel, Dead man's Grip. It's one of his Roy Grace series. It's the first Peter James I've read and I must say, 250 page in, I'm enjoying it. Roy Grace is a well-rounded, easy access character, the story has plenty of threads and it's well-paced. Recommended.

I've just finished To Infinity which was very good. Witty with very definate shades of Douglas Adams!

Now I've just started Ripple, only read a couple of pages but I'm getting hooked!

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Just finished Wee Rocketsa superbly written book which tackles sensitive and emotive issues in a poverty stricken area (such as gangs, drugs, single parents, benefit fraud)and deals with them in a really down-to-earth, non judgemental or glamorised way. Starting to read Bang: Memoirs of a Relationship Assassin for a more light hearted bit of entertainment

message 1679: by Karina (new)

Karina Kantas Finaly finished Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning I'm not going to spend my money on the last novel Shaddowfever. I enjoyed reading the series, but they are nothing I want to rave about.

message 1680: by Paul (new)

Paul (latepaul) Finished The Book Thief last night which I'm pleased about because it's off my list of books I'd half-read and wanted to go back to. I thought it was well-written but I found it hard to get through.

In that vein I'm now reading Soon I Will Be Invincible which is much lighter.

message 1681: by Mark (new)

Mark Faulkner (markrfaulkner) | 464 comments Just finished Cellar Doorwhich was different to my usual fare but I really enjoyed it. Just started dracula because I'm ashamed to say I've never read it. For a horror writer that's pretty bad.

message 1682: by Karina (new)

Karina Kantas You can't go wrong with that book Dracula, Mark. It's a classic.

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Still reading The United Kingdom of Islam,it is easily the most gory book I have ever read, had to stop at 30% and have a break. Read Lipstick and Knickers by Rosen and enjoyed the humour and escapism.

Gory? It has just been described on Mobilereads as "a fun blend of realism and far out sci-fi/fantasy" :)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I loved Dracula, I finished Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone audio book and have started Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets got nothing better to do in work :o)

If it's got Sarah's gory stamp of approval, I MUST read it soon!!!

message 1688: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just finished Service of the Heir by Lexie Conyngham. Her writing is always delightful and her humour sharp and clever - too many characters though!
I haven't decided what to read yet - I have a couple in the pipeline but I want to see what the February books are first.

message 1692: by [deleted user] (new)

I've just finished Ripple which was quite an incredible book. I highly recommend it!

As that would be a hard act to follow I've just started Tollesbury Time Forever.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Finally finished 11.22.63 by Stephen King.

Thank God.

I need something short, fluffy and totally engrossing to clear my palate now.

Any suggestions?

message 1694: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I've just finished Tollesbury Time Forever and am starting Room as our first monthly read :o)

message 1695: by [deleted user] (new)

Try Ripple Patti, it's not fluffy but it's a very different book to the one you've just read and will certainly clear your pallet! It's very easy to read and enjoyable - as well as being a stunning piece of writing.

Gave up on Thirst (Ava Delaney, #1) by Claire Farrell and The Blood That Bonds (II AM Trilogy #1) by Christopher Buecheler

message 1698: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thanks Karen. I'll give Ripple a go. Then Katie's Orlando's Gift, I think. (sorry couldn't find a link)

Have I mentioned how much I love Katie's covers? Not many book covers I'd consider framing for my walls. Her's, I would. Definitely.

Then I'll be ready for a novel again, I think.

I have one in mind.

ML IMHO it goes some way beyond Gory as defined ie involving bloodshed. The description of the pregnant girl with the reapers and the detail of what happens at the London Eye gave me nightmares and here speaks the lady who laughed at the Exorcist.
Don't judge my comment negatively,I am enjoying the book for exactly those reasons. I am now at 60% and it continues to shock me so all credit to you.
