How odd - those two books are next to each other on my bookcase! I did re read When the wind blows last year, not sure it is one of my favourites tho. I do agree that his early books are the best and not keen on the co author ones. Has anyone read any of the Maximum Ride books? Not sure any of the titles interest me.
Just finished What Was Lost. Was well written and I enjoyed it. Not too sure I liked the ending, but the journey there was good.No idea what I am going to read next. Probably something from one of our authors.
I know what I would like to read next *pokes Mr Harker*.
Desley, yes I've read the first four I think, make sure you read them in order. I think the children are introduced in where the wind blows! ;-)
Just finished Clockwork Angel and have started Clockwork Prince Loved the first loving the second. Will certainly be reading more from Cassandra Clare.
Finished Blood Music which was a re-read (albeit after a gap of a decade or two). Enjoyed about half of it. Started The Book Thief which I've tried to read before. May also alternate with Fighting the Philosophical Leopard and other stories which is a book by a guy I used to work with.
Just finished The Man From U.N.D.E.A.D. - Zombie Apocalypse Now and just started Stuart Ayris earlier work which is an amazingly mature book for his 22 year old self to have produced.A Cleansing of Souls

I thought it was just a co-incidence! I have just managed to get the originial manuscript back from iUniverse, have told them I am using the 30 day termination clause and have just begun to tighten up A Cleansing of Souls for a new release with a new cover in February! So any thoughts would be more than welcome as usual my wonderfully helpful pal!
Wish you'd said that 45% ago! I'll start making notes now and go back to the beginning when I've finshed!
Finished Tollesbury time forever and really enjoyed it.Started and finished Stone Cold

It's not on amazon any more, so we can't review it - the book's been withdrawn...

If I'd read your post properly, I would have realised what you meant - never mind..
I don't find review writing easy but I always make the effort to review indies as, even if they are short, I know that all reviews help. I wrote some for a couple of free romances that I've downloaded lately (not indie) and my reviews were so short that amazon wouldn't let me post them until I'd added a few more words!

I struggle with finding something new to say each time,I don't see the point in just summarising the book, but there is a limit to how many ways one can say I really enjoyed it!lol. As I said on another thread my Thesaurus is in tatters. You would think after reading all these books some of the wealth of language would have rubbed off on me but sadly no.
Yep, I am with you guys. I try to find something profound to say about a book I particularly liked but I fail miserably and after many re-writes end up saying. I enjoyed this book because....Definitely not the wordsmith!

I read one of the Maximum Ride books a long time ago, thinking it was a follow on from When the Wind Blows and the Lake House. Although the same characters this series is aimed at teenagers, which I didn't realise at the time, so perhaps that's why the titles didn't grab you. Saying that I enjoyed the first book, but not enough to go on and finish the series
I have finished the delightful Six Cats In My Kitchen - Lyn Horner and am now reading War Horse - Michael Morpurgo.
Finally finished Clockwork Prince 3am this morning. It's just one of those books you can't put down. I love her characters. Reminds me so much of a Jane Austin novel but with Vamps, demons. Will certainly be reading more from Cassandra Clare.
I think the star ratings are more important than the actual reviews. As an author and reader I know how important it is for the book/s to have reviews. I can't understand why most don't bother. If a synopsis catches my eye, then I look at the star rating and then read the reviews, before I decide to buy or not.
(*will not rant about Cassandra Clare*)I finished A Sword For His Women - which was awesome.
I also started and finished (at 2am...) The Twilight Before Christmas which brings my book count to 4 this year and I'm 2 ahead on my challenge. (yay?)
next book? pfft. i've no idea. that is a hard question. Maybe another short story, maybe
The Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance 2
Just finished
by Janet Evanovich this is a such a fun series to read and Stephanie Plum is a great character who is always getting into trouble. Just started
by Scott Mariani.
I've just finished Lipstick and Knickers and just starting Passion, Fire and Fury. I'm trying to kick start my personal challenge for reading books by "our" authors by reading some short stories! Rosen's book isn't my thing but I can appreciate that her writing is good. I've just read a few pages of Mel's book but am enjoying it so far.

Have just finished Thomas H Cook's The Quest for Anna Klein- a sort of spy story WW2, but real twists and turns and emotional tangle. I hve just ordered two more of his - not come across him before. Think I might start reading my last precious Samson tonight, Sovereign
Oh, and according to the Guardian, Belinda Bauer's new book is a return to form,so have now got Finders Keeperson my wishlist - for when it comes down in price.
I've just started The Cave by Jose Saramago, but I'm only a page or so in and have almost lost the will to live. After the beautiful prose of Truman Capote's Other Voices, Other Rooms the words and sentences are passing my eyes like a procession of dead insects. Life may be too short to continue.
Finshed To Infinity (- can't remember who wrote it -
)and started and finished Anywhere but Here - just the sort of book to relax me before the mayhem that the last week in January becomes at work.
Just finished Stuart's A Cleansing of Souls which I am about to start again!Last night I read in one sitting (because it's a novella Loss by Glen Krisch. It's quite an attention grabber. A novella has to move fast I suppose but this is very good, emotional, a strong story. Very nice indeed.
Started Darkfeverlast night. I'm half way through. Not sure how I feel about the books yet. Her style of writing is a little annoying and I find her MC too similar to Sookie from True Blood. I should be finish with it by tonight.
