Just finished Killers which like The Kult I found quite disturbing so as you can see it didn't put me off it. Thinking of starting a DTB Quiet Flows the Don an old book I read at school. A Russian classic.
Keith wrote: "just finished Watership Down started Faceless Killers: The First Kurt Wallander Mystery"Love Kurt Wallander
may have been your comment that set me to thinking il try 1 of his, thought i would start at the begining of the series
Finished The Mayan CodexThe Nostradamus PropheciesThe Third Antichrist Really enjoyed this trilogy.Started and finished 11/22/63 absolutely LOVED it. King back to his best.
I didn't know that was a trilogy, put the Nostradamus Prophecies in my to read list, but obviously didn't put the rest, better do that now !
Feeling quite pleased with myself because I've just finished American Gods and just about to start The Book Thief
Just finished Breaking the Silence which I really enjoyed now started Did anyone die? (Little Wychwell Mysteries) Stella Stafford.
Just finished Broken which I thought was extremely good and now started a recent freebie Dréoteth ... so far so good!
Just given up on 'The Rozabal Line' A sort of Da Vinci Code clone. Too complex for me after a third of the book. Continually jumps from 2012 to AD now totally confused.
I'm really struggling with First We Read, Then We Write: Emerson on the Creative Process and am trying desperately to keep going!
I'm reading Darshan: A Journey for the second time and loving it all over again. A large and incredibly ambitious novel spanning continents and the extraordinary adventures and experiences of Sara, an Anglo-Indian girl - unputdownable.
Just finished StormwreckWow!What a story, not for the faint hearted but truly gripping.Still deciding on my next book but Stuart's is looking like a strong possibility.
Richard-(Realhighwayman) wrote: "Just given up on 'The Rozabal Line' A sort of Da Vinci Code clone. Too complex for me after a third of the book. I have just finished Tollesbury Time Forever and I'm still getting my breath back. What a powerful, literary, beautiful work of art this book is. I often enjoy a book (what's the point of reading if you don't) but some are in a class of their own. This is up there with Harry Nicholson's Tom Fleck and Cornelius Harker's Words to the Wise Saga for me. Just gorgeous. Off to review.
You'll love it Jud. It's so thought provoking and so wise. I've just posted the review here and on Amazon.co.uk and .com (.com usually goes up straight away - don't know why .co.uk takes so long?)
I just finished Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency it was ok, didn't not like it but won't be raving about it or recommending it. I did have a couple of chuckles though. I've now started Mrs. Lirriper's Lodgings which seems to be a short story as after 10mins I am 25% through.
I have just read 'Sister' by Rosamund Lipton followed by 'Before I go to sleep' by SJ Watson (who is apparently a man, which surprised me). I thought both books were fantastic psychological thrillers with brilliant twists. Haven't decided what to start tonight yet. They will be difficult to follow, so I think I'll read some American crime for a bit if a change!
Aunty Janet wrote: "I have just read 'Sister' by Rosamund Lipton followed by 'Before I go to sleep' by SJ Watson (who is apparently a man, which surprised me). I thought both books were fantastic psychological thrille..."Yes, I enjoyed Before I Go To Sleeptoo Janet, a real page turner.
I have just finished Robinson Crusoe which was ok but was more religious than I remembered. Currently two thirds through Catching Fire and will decide whether to read Mockingjay to finish the trilogy or The Avenue Goes to War.
I am reading Cut Short - Leigh Russell on Kindle and Stone Rain - Linwood Barclay in paperback. Also finished The Trophy Taker - Lee Weeks.
I experienced something yesterday that has never happened before. Started a short story (which I totally forget the name) and my Kindle died on me. DIED. How dare it?! I always manage to catch it before it dies completely but I was in Starbucks and it just conked out. No warning or anything. All charged up now. Must check on that short story...
After finishing (and gloriously revelling in) Tollesbury Time Forever by Stuart Ayris, I'm now reading his A Cleansing of Souls which is also proving to be something special!
Thank you both so much Janet and Susan,I looked at before I go to sleep in the daily mail supplement last week and was going to send off for it (DTB).Phil recycled the magazine before I got the chance,I think it was reduced to £5.99.Now I have got it on Kindle for £2.70.Bargain!
Thank you Ignite! Oooh I was a troubled 22 year old when I wrote A Cleansing of Souls!! - now I'm just a peace-loving barmish boy! ; )
I just finished Mrs. Lirriper's Lodgings which is written in the style of a letter to someone, it was a lovely wee story. Not a lot happened but I enjoyed it. Have now started Robinson Crusoe

Glad you got Before I Go To Sleep Sarah. I read it for my real life book club, and I think it cost more then! Lucky you!
My latest read was intriguing.Death Comes To Pemberley Instead of contemporary England, P.D. James has set her latest book at Pemberley estate in 1803, six years after Miss Elizabeth Bennet has married Darcy. That is, P.D. James takes the prose of Jane Austen as her setting. James plus Austen is a fascinating combination, although there are some difficulties in the marriage. Here's my review.
Going to leave Stone Rain - Linwood Barclay and Cut Short - Leigh Russell til later. I am deciding to read Six Cats In My Kitchen - Lyn Horner.
I have just finished Roses are Red by James Patterson, there was something near the beginning that i remembered so i thought i had read it before, but i did not see the end coming. Now about to start Violets are Blue which seems to follow on from it, can't wait!
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Going to leave Stone Rain - Linwood Barclay and Cut Short - Leigh Russell til later. I am deciding to read [book:Six Cats In My Kitche..."I didn't like Six cats in my kitchen very much when I read it. Seemed lacking in warmth to me. Hope you like it better than me.
Just started Other Voices, Other Rooms by Truman Capote. What a brilliant writer - I'm lost in admiration.
Just finished Confliction CompendiumOnce I got into it it flew. Very enjoyable read.
Now reading The Young Wan Lovely read so far
Desley I love The early James Patterson stuff with Alex Cross! My favourite of his books is When the Wind Blows and The Lake House. They are completely different to any of his other books.
I agree with Jud. When the wind blow was the very first book I read of JP's, I couldn't believe a man had written it actually. Then I discovered his thrillers and the rest is history! His earlier one's are exceptional. ;-)
I've given up on his new stuff, I time his books going downhill with when he started writing with other authors.
Nell wrote: "Just started Other Voices, Other Rooms by Truman Capote. What a brilliant writer - I'm lost in admiration."I've not read a Truman Capote in ages! Love his stuff!
I've decided to abandon The Book Thief for the time being as I think this book needs to be savoured and I'm in the mood for something lighter.I'm gonna finish A Goodreads Gallimaufrey
just finished The Messenger of Athens- a delightful book - a murder mystery but in a very credible Greek island setting, with real characters - and a dash of myth & magic. Just started dipping into The Etymologicon: A Circular Stroll through the Hidden Connections of the English Languagewhich was on radio 4 recently, and is fascinating. Don't think I'll read it all in one go tho
Pat (Scorpio) wrote: "Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Going to leave Stone Rain - Linwood Barclay and Cut Short - Leigh Russell til later. I am deciding to read [book..."She said it wasn't gonna be a cute cuddly kinda book lol
I have just finished Dréoteth which I thought was fantastic and will shortly start Tollesbury Time Forever :-)
