Just finished - just started
I've chickened out of starting The Mirror & the Light - I feel I want something a bit lighter at the mo! So I'm into the third book in series, Burnt Island - v good so far. Set in the Scilly isles, so a good way to escape. Good reads all of them so far.
Read Tanith Lee's Tamastara, or The Indian Nights and reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3243365021
Just finished The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo.Just started The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. Loving it so far.

I quite enjoyed The Girl Before too.
I'm half way through The Crossing Places - Elly Griffiths is reading it on Facebook a chapter a day. It's perfect company for me in the kitchen when I'm preparing dinner. I have read it before and it got me into the whole series. I love North Norfolk and the archaeology is fascinating. And of course the characters - Ruth and Nelson - are great. If you don't know the series and want to try this first book, I thoroughly recommend listening in - just search for her name on FB
Well, I did persevere and finish The Dressmakers Gift, but sadly it didn't live up to expectations. The writer had obviously done a lot of research. Unfortunately she wanted to include it all. The present day life of haute couture was totally unconvincing, and I didn't warm to any of the characters. Such a shame. Anyway, still listening to Elly Griffiths reading 'The Crossing Placeson Facebook. chapter 25 now. Very entertaining.
I've just finished Lords and Ladies https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...I'm now going to break my Pratchet good mood with something depressing!
Some Hope
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "I started In the Woods this week, enjoying it"I did enjoy that one, Desley - much better than the TV version. So much more 'going on' in their thoughts.
Am at a bit of a loss what to start next, so think I'll go back to something lighter, tried & trusted, so probably a Lindsey Davis.
Yes, I'm finding things fleshed out a bit more. Maybe use a random number generator to pick the next book?

Have been reading Walden by Henry David Thoreau, which I'm finding absolutely tedious. Giving it a rest at 59% in. And have just started Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle, which is thrilling from the start.
Finished The Confession, very thought provoking. Now started Before the Storm this month is paperback only, figured now would be the best time
Just started Office of the dead by Sally Spedding. I've read her crime noir before. This doesn't seem as dark - yet

Will wrote: "Just started Office of the dead by Sally Spedding. I've read her crime noir before. This doesn't seem as dark - yet"I did a crime writing course with Sally some years ago! It was tutored by the lovely Simon Brett and Susan Moody. Happy memories - and not a bit scary...
Just finished a light refreshing 'We are Unknown' by Janet Jones. https://www.amazon.co.uk/We-Are-Janet... Sorry, no link I could find on here. I've now started Kate Atkinson's Big Sky - great writing and wit as usual.
I have downloaded Peter May's Lockdown - as it's in a good cause, charities in frontline of fight against virus - but not sure I want to read it just yet... Maybe just a sneaky peek.
I always enjoy Kate Atkinson's books, and may actually be slightly in love with Jackson Brodie. Although that might have something to do with the fact that Jason Isaacs played him in the TV adaptations.

Catching up on Kate Atkinson's Jackson Brodie books I realised I had missed. Finished the intricately plotted One Good Turn, so now started When Will There Be Good News?, a bit bleak so far!
