Noted :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Finished Innocence, another one I regret buying as the majority was ‘Boy’ which I own, and a few of the stories were based around it (boarding school tales), I’d have enjoyed the last one, where it explains how he became a writer, a lot more if I hadn’t read Boy first as there was an overlap.

David Hadley Just starting London London by Edward Rutherfurd . Liked his Sarum, so hoping this one is as good.

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Just finished In the Woods, its been on my kindle for a while and I wanted to finish it before I started watching the TV version. Not sure now... I enjoyed most of the book but it was a bit exasperating in places!! and I didn't like the ending.
Just started Strangers on a Bridge, ok so far tho I feel I may get exasperated with this one too...

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just reviewed a couple of ghostly stories on Amazon. Books published for Halloween. I've given them both five stars but I have to say, I don't recommend anyone to buy them just yet. The kindle prices - they're having a larf. They're probably going to be good for next year.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Had to DNF one of mine yesterday, I realised I had read it before, but this time the writing grated on me so much I realised I had so many I wanted to read that I couldn't waste the time. Lisey's Story

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Finished The Haunting of Hill House last night, enjoyed everything except the ending, so only a 4* read, just started Madness by Roald Dahl, although I have read the first story.

message 13472: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just read A Long Way From Home by Brian Caves. Very powerful story set in Georgia, USA, in the early 1960s. Hugely recommended.

Bernie Morris (berniem) | 141 comments Just finished Canal Dreams by Iain Banks Canal Dreams. My 2nd time reading. Must admit that I understood it a bit more this time. Although I understood completely her desire for revenge, I don't think I could've acted as she did. But, there again, I probably would have been killed anyway.
Just started 'To Love and Cherish' by Lyn Andrews. Guess this will seem tame by comparison, but I'm determined to cover many genres in my reading.

Jim | 21809 comments I think that the trilogy really hangs together as one book, so I'd recommend reading all three books in one sitting :-)
Reading one is a bit like reading one of the Lord of the Rings books separately

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Ooh, I love the Odd Thomas series, although think I’ve only read the first 3.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Loved Guernsey. Read it for our book group. I think the epistolatory style got on some people's wick, though.

Natasha Holme (natashaholme) | 832 comments Kath wrote: "Loved Guernsey. Read it for our book group. I think the epistolatory style got on some people's wick, though."

Eek. I was hoping that that was just how the book starts. It's annoying me already and I'm only 3% in. Perhaps it will grow on me. ...

message 13483: by Nigel (new)

Nigel Bird (nigelbird) | 167 comments Just finished Know Me From Smoke which is a really good read for noir fans. Currently reading a book by Anthony Neil Smith that's not been published yet, but I'm looking forward to spread the word when the time is right. And then I'm going back to the 87th Precinct, I reckon.

To set the record straight I am now very much enjoying the epistolary style of this book.

message 13486: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Haha! I enjoyed it after initial reservations.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12592 comments Finished Madness yesterday, at one point I was disappointed I’d restricted myself to 4, but am now glad, one of the ones in Madness was in Deception I think, and it appears there were more of his adult stories I have read, so not many new stories unfortunately. I am however really enjoying Sir Arthur Conan Doyles megapack, a collection of about 65 short stories that vary in subject, I’ve just read one about a pilot discovering new creatures in the sky.

Natasha Holme (natashaholme) | 832 comments Jess wrote: "I've just finished The Well of Loneliness"

What did you think, Jess? I've read this classic twice. It knocked me out at the age of 19. But I struggled with it two or three decades later.

Natalie (natalielovesreading) | 1 comments Hi All. I am new to the forum but not new to Goodreads. I often use it to record the books I have read. My name is Natalie and I am from Manchester. Just pottering round here looking what other people are reading but it seems this forum is not very well used nowawadays which is a shame! Just finished Last Day in Winter by Shari Low and now reading Unnatural Causes. Love biography, true crime, non fiction and fiction just the same!
