First book of my new trial London Call-Out: Confessions Of A Doctor In The Capital - i do like books like this. Really want to finish White Bones so i can start Kelly's second book
A catchup on my recent reads:volume 2 of the Louise Cooper series, Inferno, and my review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2449661955.
volume 3 of the Indigo series by Louise Cooper - Infanta - and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2456839594.

and a break from the Indigo series, Cuckoo Song by Frances Hardinge - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2449554413.
Two more stories from Port Naain, by our own Jim Webster. I always enjoy these. It's like sttling down for an evening with good friends.http://ignitebooks.blogspot.com/2018/...
Just finished The Extra Ordinary Life of Frank Derrick, Age 81 by J.B. Morrison, which was beautiful, laugh-out-loud, gentle comedy.Just finished Dietland by Sarai Walker, which was a fabulous adventure around trying to persuade an overweight woman not to get her stomach stapled.
Just started Banished: Surviving My Years in the Westboro Baptist Church by Lauren Drain. This should be a good trip. ...
Just finished The Boy on the Bridge
which was excellent, Perhaps not quite up to The Girl With All the Gifts, but very close.Very recommended, but read TGWATG first.
Just started The Cartographer's Apprentice: Leave Them Wanting More
.
Just ditched two books in a row. Started Shalini Boland's new one The Silent Sister. I usually enjoy hers so I hope it'll break the downward slide.
hope you enjoy it David :-)I've just finished The Diamond Age: Or, A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer
enjoyed it
I've started The Breadwinners: A Family Saga which I'm undecided on but I am about 30% through and All the Light We Cannot See which I'm listening to but it is narrated in quite a stilted way so I'm finding it harder to listen to. Does anyone know if it is written that way?
I don't think it's for me. I'll finish the book I have but I don't think I'll read anything else by the author if this is his style. It's a good book and story so far though, I'm just finding it a bit too staccato.
Just finished "The Confectioner's Tale" by Laura Madeleine
Here's my Goodreads review:
A tender, bittersweet mingling of mystery and romance in the waning days of Belle Epoque Paris. A delightful read.
Just started Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz
Finished Karen Maitland's The Owl Killers and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2353302273.
Finished London Call-Out: Confessions Of A Doctor In The Capital not sure what non-fiction to get next
Read book 5 of Louise Cooper's Indigo series, Troika and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2460147532.
Finished The Cartographer's Apprentice: Leave Them Wanting More
, which was excellent, which you all probably know. This young author will go far.
Just started
No Cry For Help
After ditching two unsatisfactory books in a row - unusual for me - I hit the jackpot with Shalini Boland's latest The Silent Sisterhttp://ignitebooks.blogspot.com/2018/...

Finished Fireflood and Other Stories, a collection of short stories by Vonda McIntyre and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2461827056.
Finished Blue World by Robert R McCammon and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2464274800.
I finished The Boy on the Bridge yesterday.Disappointing. Didn't care about any of the characters and the plot was uninspired.
I've started Happiness which is promising so far.
Just finished Banished: Surviving My Years in the Westboro Baptist Church by Lauren Drain. I found reading the reviews of the book far more interesting than the book itself.Just started The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce.
Kath wrote: "I loved The Boy on the Bridge. It's my typa thing."Me too. Not quite up there with TGWATG but close enough.
Just started the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. An alternative history set during the Napoleonic wars with an air force of dragons. Entertaining.

I think because it was coming at us as a second go at that world. TGWATG (I so want to type TWAT!) had the benefit of novelty. Took me by surprise, that one.

I think that is it. I started TGWATG without a clue as to what it was about, and the way it slowly built its world as the story progressed was one of the things I really liked about it.
TWAT? - The Woman's Additional Talents?
Could be a sequel to TGWATG when the girl grows up, I suppose.
Just finished No Cry For Help
which was an enjoyable and pretty decent fast paced action thriller. Flagged a bit in the middle, but readable to the end.Just started
Black Wood.
Just finished Daisy Johnson's Everything Under and started T Kingfisher's Jackalope Wives And Other Stories
Jim wrote: "OK I'll bite, what's TGWATG?"The Girl With All The Gifts. The Girl With All the Gifts One of the few book titles I can forgive for having 'girl' in there as it's about a child. Of the female persuasion.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Yesterday one of my friends in Baku told me she has run out of books to read. Can you imagine????"
Eh, what? I think she is deluded
Benjamin wrote: "Just finished Daisy Johnson's Everything Under and started T Kingfisher's Jackalope Wives And Other Stories"I absolutely love T Kingfisher's anthologies, I'm planning to buy the Halcyon Book of Tales soon. Can I recommend Rosamund Hodge's Short Stories too?

Finished Blood Ties - was gutted at lunch, had to leave it with 5 mins left, but another enjoyable read, looking forward to the next one. Haven't decided what to read next
Just started The Steerswoman by Rosemary Kirstein. I strongly suspect I'll be following the series to the end in between the Temeraire stories.
Read Christa Wolf's Cassandra: A Novel and Four Essays and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2427107009.
