Thanks - too late though, I bought Val McDermid's Forensics: What Bugs, Burns, Prints, DNA and More Tell Us About Crime a couple of days ago - my Christmas treat to me : )

Forensic Anal !!! I didn't know you read books like that Geoff! ;0)
Bart Simpson said that the good thing about being a butt doctor was that you get to keep anything you find...

We all have our hobbies, Vanessa, even if they are scatological.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Geoff got a bucket of big words for Christmas."Along with his bucket of KFC?
Not gonna share my Brazil nuts with you. So there.Just finished another of the Mike Resnicks I've been re-reading.
I'm gonna read the Botany of Desire now, I think. I fancy a bit of non-fiction for a change.

Thanks Patti and Desley. I've been trying to downsize my (physical) book collection due to lack of space, so this challenge was my incentive to read a lot this year.
Yeah, I've had to downsize my DTBs several times over the years so I can relate.I've now got thousands of e-books.
Yay?
I have a small though growing set of e-books. I will be doing the challenge again in 2016 as I really do need to get through a lot of hard copy books.
Hilary Mantell's superb Wolf Hall is half price on Amazon today £2.49.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wolf-Hall-Tho...
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Dave checked earlier. We've got 11 500 e-books now.Just completely redickalus."
Wow! Think I've got 937 on my kindle, but haven't switched the wifi on for a bit, so that could go up. Went through the unread paperbacks yesterday, only got rid of 3, and one will be lent to a friend
Just finished the book I started last year, Flesh and Bones. Not as good as the first one, I hate it when they accuse the main character, especially with some of the evidence they had. First paperback of the year will be an Agatha Christie, can't decide on my first kindle book
Just finished Mysterious Pitkirtly and The Butchered Man, and The Cartographer's Apprentice: Leave Them Wanting More and A Personal Devil, and The Fabric of Murder, over the last two days. Some reviewed, some reviews to follow.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "I think it was you, David. Was ages ago."Could have been me too, as I really like the series.
Jim wrote: "Just finished Escape From B-Movie HellCracking book, MTM done good

Seconded, I've just posted my review.
Just finished The Travels Of Marco Polo The VenetianQuite amazing, and gave me itchy feet and wanderlust.
Oh, and quite a lot of material to use.
Just finished A Man Called Ove. Not sure initially but after the first few percent I was converted. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
In my first review of 2016 I look at the collection of Lovecraftian themed short stories Lovecraft Unbound, there's some good stories in there, but it has a number of issues too:

Glad you enjoyed A Time to Kill, Natasha. You might also like A Painted House by Grisham. It moves him away from the law towards Steinbeck territory.
I'm afraid that I've rather departed from Grisham, as he has become quite stale over the years. In fact I gave one of his books a 1 star rating as it was basically the same story as another he'd written a few years earlier.

That is one of my favourite Grisham books, trying to get a copy of Sycamore Row. I haven't read one of his for years, but have one on my pile for this year
Geoff, Desley, it is rare for me to read more than one book by the same author, even when I've really enjoyed a book. As they say: so many books, so little time. ...
Patti, just had my copy of The Bazaar of Broken Dreams delivered. I'll star6 it in a day or so, after this Robert Rankin I'm reading

Yes. Once it gets to Rama it picks up a bit, but you get the feeling that they didn't really know what to do with it.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Great stuff, Will!I hope you enjoy it as much as I did."
Strangely, I bought my copy from ebay (as i normally do) and it arrived via Amazon. At a third of the best Amazon price.

Didn't help that I then conflated Dave and Aaronovitch and ended up with David Aaronovitch, who is a slightly different writer. They're related though, I think, aren't they? Or is my mind just burbling away to itself again?
