We'll need to dig you out with a land spoon. (I saw something on Facebook where someone called a shovel a land spoon and that's what I'm gonna call them from now on)
That sounds like something Abe Simpson might say. 'I used to call coleslaw liberty cabbage. But only I knew that...'
Kath wrote: "We fogeys stick together. With spilt porridge and gravy, usually."GL, we need a towel in here. Kath is dribbling again.
Good job it's not Mr Cox under that towel, else Kath'd be dribbling even more. That's C.O.X., as in Brian.
I'm confused. How come his towel doesn't drape straight down?I can understand the bit from his shoulder to his hands. That's at an angle because he's holding on to it. But the rest of the towel from his hands downwards ought to fall towards the floor and not continue on at an angle of 10% from the vertical.
That's either one very stiff towel or there is something underneath the towel stopping it from dangling straight down.
Ohhh. I see. Surely he doesn't have velcro on his willy?
I come back after the weekend and find we're discussing towel rails - thought I'd clicked on IKEA by mistake. Oh! Now I've scrolled back ...
Just finished (a day or two ago) Auto 2 by David Wailing. It's the long-awaited continuation of the Auto saga. Excellent stuff!https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Pam wrote: "Just finished Hounds of the Morrigan and now on The Long Secret."I loved The Hounds of the Mórrígan, read it years ago when my kids were school age. One of my all time favourites. That strapline's a blxxdy cheek though - 'if you like Harry Potter...'. It's way ahead of HP, a totally different league. Beautifully written.
Just finished The Corpse Reader - it kept up the pace right to the end, and was thoroughly enthralling. A great mystery and briliantly evoked sense of place - mediaeval China.
Off to start one of the last 2013 downloads on my list. Only a handful to go now.
Now I come to think of it, what is the plural of nemesis? Nemesisses? Nemeses? I think the second one, but it sounds a bit odd.For that matter, I was tickled to learn that the singular of ravioli is raviolo. Which probably means that the singular of Ferrari ought to be Ferraro.
And just the one panino, too. Yes, Nemeses, says the linguistic pedant in the corner. And octopodes.
I found out the reason why the pronunciation of Moet and Chandon had changed. The 't' on Moet has been hardened because Mr Moet was Dutch, not French.Lesson learned.

Yes my copy has that too and I found it annoying. I bought a copy as a present for a friend's daughter years ago and she enjoyed it so I bought one for myself and have only just got round to reading it - it was published well before Harry Potter!

I just bought this because of your comments
Just finished
This had the potential to be so much more than an average 3 star novel. A shame the author wasn't a bit more heavy handed with the drama side of things.
My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've given up on the Jean Auel. Too much repetition.I've given up on the Jean Auel. Too much repetition.
Kath wrote: "Heard varying reviews of this, Read On. Not sure it's my thing."According to the reviews I read after finishing the novel, she has a big following and even her hardcore fans said this is most definitely not her best work. I've never read any of her previous books and so just took it at face value. It's easy enough to read but certainly doesn't leave any lasting impression on you. In a word - forgettable.
I've read a couple or so of Anne Tyler's books and liked them a lot. These two in particular:
The Accidental Tourist
Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant
I don't know how they compare to her latest one, though.
Finished Rosens fantastic Seesaw, hopefully get chance to do a review over the weekend. Restarted Ancient Images by Ramsay Campbell, got into it this time
I read a lot of Ramsey Campbell some years ago.Just finished The Amber Spyglass and about to start Red Moon and Black Mountain
Finished The Establishment: And How They Get Away with It by Owen Jones. Really enjoyed it.Hauling myself through Neuromancer by William Gibson (at 65%). Barely understand a word of it. Allegedly, it's worth it in the end. ...
I've just finished reading Michael Patrick Hicks' novel Emergence and it's a good sci-fi thriller with some fast paced action:

I've just finished reading David Haynes' latest release The Journal of Reginald Perigar and it's a wonderful horror read - highly recommended:
