Yep. Still have my kk and use it. But I can't pop on here or answer emails unless I use the tablet.

I've got an old KK in the cupboard. Still works, though I don't use it. Would probably sell it if anyone was interested.
Kath wrote: "Yep. Still have my kk and use it. But I can't pop on here or answer emails unless I use the tablet."I usually have my iPad on the table and my kindle in my hand.
Kath wrote: "I roll it all into my Nexus 7!"My Nexus 7 is dying a horrible death at the moment, thanks to the updates that have pretty much crippled it :(
It's so bad, I went and bought a Kindle Fire HD7 just so I could listen to my Audible books, without having to wait 15 minutes for the app to open, lol.
Just started The Surgeon (Paperback), by Tess Gerritsen. About to finish White Knight (Audiobook), by Jim Butcher. And I'm waiting for The Returned Part 3, by Peter David, to hit my faithful old KK.
Hmm. When they offered me the latest update I declined it - for about 3 months. Then I decided they'd probably had time to sort the glitches. I had it offered every day - I had to remove it every day - talk about nagging - but since I accepted, it's been fine.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "My KK is now in New Zealand. How cool is that?"Mine is with my ex boyfriend!!! May have to meet up with him after all to get it back (it was the one I use for when I am in the bath!! Don't like using the paper white, just in case!)
Ahem.I don't even allow Dave to borrow my kindle.
Get it back now.
More I hear about the ex, more I'm pleased he's an ex.

One the plus side, the KF HD7 is pretty sweet :)

I don't even let people look at mine...
I co-own (that is, I have been allowed to put books on) an A4 sized one which I think is now quite rare - we had to order it from Canada at the time but other co-owner required the special size for some obscure purpose. Not very portable as it is not only large but also runs out of charge quite fast, but great to knit to as I don't have to turn the page very often!
Whilst working for HP I was introduced to one of their 26 inch (Yes, you read that right!) tablets. What I referred to as "The tea tray", only to receive dark looks from those in charge. They went over the feature set (There is no battery in it, mains only.) finally finishing with the presenter saying "It has a HDMI socket on the side." I said it automatically: "Is that in case you want to use a smaller screen?"
I tell you, if looks could kill...
I have The Human Factor on my to read list. I'm currently reading The Comedians and it is very good indeed.
Geoff (G. Robbins) (The noisy passionfruit) wrote: "I have The Human Factor on my to read list. I reread The Power and the Glory recently, which made me want to reread some more, definitely including The Human Factor and The Comedians.
I've just finished reading No Way Home and it's a cracking collection of sci-fi short stories:

Oh my word so sad this is the last Discworld novel "
Me too, on Audible (the Briggsy version, not Tony Robinson)
Just finished the John Nicholl book White is the Coldest Colour which had a good story but the style lost it a star from me.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished Self Publishing Attack! The 5 Absolutely Unbreakable Laws for Creating Steady Income Publishing Your Own Books
, which was okay, more of a general summing up with nothing new to add.Just started
Plot Versus Character: A Balanced Approach to Writing Great Fiction which seems a bit meatier than the one above, but we'll see.
Finished Don't Tell Mummy: A True Story of the Ultimate Betrayal, very harrowing. Not sure what paperback I'm reading next, might just read my kindle book for a few days, which is Syndrome
I'm readingIf Walls Could Talk: An Intimate History of the Home
Interesting companion to the TV series.
Finished Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration
which was quite interesting, although I would have liked more about the actual nuts and bolts of animation.Just about to start
The Mother Tongue: English and How It Got That Way.
Oh, let me know how you get on with the Bill Bryson, David.I might be interested, if it's worthwhile.

Will do.
Unless I forget.
I've just finished reading The Russian Sleep Experiment by Holly Ice and while it didn't quite live up to my expectations it was still a damn fine horror read:

Just finished One Day by David Nicholls. Absolutely stand-out modern fiction.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I read that back on the island, Kath. Pre-kindle!
Great book, that.

I do think where we are in our head affects how we enjoy a book. I know I've read many books that'd I would enjoyed much more with different life circumstances.
Or, you know, you just thought it sucked. :)
I loved One Day too so I am with Patti and Ignite :-)Been a while since I read it so may re-read actually
Actually I believe that has a lot to do with it Patti. Also I think what you have just read previously can colour your perceptions of your current reading. But basically I also thought that both his characters were just really really annoying :) I enjoyed Starter for Ten very much.
Just finished Moby Dick, or at least as much of it as I think I need - about one third.Magnificent and self-indulgent in equal measure. I'm glad it exists, but life is too short to plough on with a book I am not enjoying.

Nothing stranger than folk, eh?

Yeah. I struggled on to the end of it, but I can't remember much about it apart from the first line, and that mainly because of the number of times Alan Coren used it to start off one of his columns.
Congrats on getting to the end! It defeated me. Might have to take Patti's advice and watch the film.
Just finished Peas & Queues: The Minefield of Modern Manners by Sandi Toksvig. It was fairly amusing. ...Still reading Embracing the Power of Truth by Shavasti. Interesting, but repetitive.
OD-ing on the non-fic. Looking forward to reading some fic!
Just finished James Oswald's Prayer for the Dead, more spooky Edinburgh police procedural. I think this is his best yet, with the most satisfying and creepy ending. Some review on the front says 'the new Ian Rankin' but I think that does Oswald a disservice - he's much funnier and with a very different emphasis. Also couldn't resist and I've started the next P.F. Chisholm, A Murder of Crows. These are such good fun - but I have far too much to do to be starting another book!
I've just finished reading C is for Cthulhu and it is the perfect introduction to the horrors beyond time and space :-)

I've just read the new Seb Kirby psychological thriller EACH DAY I WAKE which I thoroughly enjoyed.http://ignitebooks.blogspot.co.uk/201...
