Just finished - just started
Just finishedThe Dying Hour and really enjoyed it, stayed up really late to finish it on Thursday night. I enjoyed it more than Six Secondsby the same author, that was free a few weeks ago. More my serial killer cup of tea!!I've read a couple of short stories in the meantime until I decide what to start next.
So far today I've read Nick's Feedback which I thought was fantastic and I've read most of Tess Gerritsen's Freaks. Going back to it now.
Finished Mel's Impending Justice this morning ready to start the sequel Final Justice tonight,I can hardly wait, the ending was such a cliff hanger.I wonder if I could bribe Mel withChocolate, handbags, cupcakes?
I started The Woman in Black: A Ghost Story (and finished it) I'm more of a scaredy cat than anyone else you know including all children so this was about the height of scaryness I can cope with and then only cause my cousin saw the play and i knew a little bit about it already. Had nightmares last night, shouldnt have read it just before bed! Anyway I thought it was really good with the suspense and anticipation I really enjoyed it, I got the scared feeling without it actually affecting my life (sounds daft but it's true i had to sleep on the floor of my parents room after watching the grudge). now i have started Her Fearful Symmetry which apparently also has ghostly themes... Oh well, here's to a good nights sleep.hope all is well Karen! I found out today that i have to enact a "doggy style" pose for the musical i'm in with a guy I hadn't spoken to before and the first thing he said was "So what position do you want to do?" hope that cheers everyone up a bit.
I don't read ghost stories or anything paranormal Jud - I would get nightmares too!!
I'm on a roll of escapist books. Finished A Weekend with Mr. Darcy and am now reading another novel by the same author The Perfect Hero, which I am enjoying even more. Still lots of Jane Austen in it - this time it's set around a film company making a production of Persuasion. They are well written and escapist, no bad language and no graphic scenes. I'm enjoying these a lot more than other chick lit novels that I've read.

I'm in front of you this time Karen - I read
yesterday. I did get a bit annoyed at the heroine being dozy.
Today I'm starting
- by one of "our authors" I will get on with
before the end of the month.
finally, after almost a month of reading, a few days ago I have managed to finish The Pillars of the Earth. I enjoyed it more than i was expecting to. its the kind of book that will stay with me for a while. just started One Day and it looks promising :)
its the book the ladies chose for the reading group i plan to join. the problem is they talk about everything except the book...i.ll give it a try though :)the book is great until now
I finished The Perfect Hero and thoroughly enjoyed it! Now I'm re-reading Tuppence to Spendwhich I was reminded of by another goodreads member. It's set in Portsmouth - my home stamping ground, during the second world war. I first read it a few years ago but didn't like the hero at all. I'm enjoying it more now I've grown up a bit! It's very well written and fascinating to me as I know most of the places talked about, and when the air raid on Portsmouth is described it's poignant to me as my Grandpa was a fireman in Portsmouth during the war. I'm still not keen on the hero (he's not really a hero cos it's not that sort of story, but I'm not sure what else to call him) but I understand him a bit better now. It's a good book that I can recommend.

Just finished ‘The Help’ and have started Wind From Danyari by West Oz author Laurel Lamperd. I’m about 20% through in to it and thoroughly enjoying the story.
Finally finished Punchline, now I'm attacking Killers with much excitement and enthusiasm ! Better be as good as the first one !
I just finished Her Fearful Symmetry which i found a bit odd, i could have handled the ghosty part of it but it was the other normal everyday things going on that just would never happen (in my opinion) that made it a bit ridiculous. I still enjoyed it though. Now i've started the group read The Righteous already nearly 30% through it

Shaun wrote: "Lorraine 100% Pure Sweetness ♥ wrote: "Finally finished Punchline, now I'm attacking Killers with much excitement and enthusiasm ! Anyway, it doesn't matter, because I'll read it, then you'll tell me your smiley secret (want to finish the book first) and then... well you know what will happen then...
Lorraine 110% Pure Sweetness ♥ wrote: "and then... well you know what will happen then... "Erm, I get three wishes?
Just finished Callahan's Crosstime Saloon (Callahan's Place Trilogy, #1). Might read a couple of short stories before I start on The Righteous
Although I'm not usually a fan of French history, I had heard so much about Becoming Marie Antoinette that I decided to read it. For me there was maybe more about clothes and hair than I am thrilled to read about, although that is pretty central for the period, but I definitely enjoyed the in-depth reappraisal of Marie Antoinette. Grey gets inside her head in a convincing way. Here's my review.
I finished reading Tuppence to Spend which I thoroughly enjoyed - gives a really good picture of Portsmouth in the Second World War and what it was like to be caught up in the bombing.
Now I've started to read The Eagle of the Ninth and it's excellent. I've never read it before and if I didn't know that it was supposed to be a children's book, I wouldn't have guessed. Very well written.

Just finished Death in the Physic Garden, can't decide whether to look at the next book Death in the Winter Garden or read one of the l-o-n-g unread list on my kindle (mostly freebies) I know Patti will shout at me again - but I'm one nectar point short of an Amazon voucher that is earmarked for buying some book that she recommended.

Thanks Patti glad you liked CJ.And Phillip (Sarah) you've made my weekend.
I've just finished a couple of books. Erra and the sequel Erra More & the Sibitti a bit saucy but great paranormal romances. Beautiful writing.

I read Death in the Physic Garden and enjoyed it, so I'll read Death in the Winter Garden soon. Quite often the follow up books aren's as good, so I'm grateful for the info.

just finished the Drowning Pool, a very enjoiyable ghost story. Should finally get round to starting Killers tonight, I can't wait!!
Finished Shaun's Killers. It was a terrific read, full of action, suspense, more twists than a corkscrew.I liked it better than The Kult,I think because Prosper Snow revealed more of his character.I really like his friend Wolfe and hope he remains in future books. His humour adds a touch of lightness just when it is most needed.I think I will now read Heidi as after reading both Mel and Shaun's Thriller's I need to reduce my adrenaline levels.Lol.

Very pleased you enjoyed it so much.
I started The Color of Magic last week - after finishing The Vampire's AssistantI haven't been on here in ages. Blame the crazy life!
Oh it's lovely to be back Patti. I can't wait until things settle down more so I actually have some time to read something other than Study books /:
Just finished The Other Room by James Everington - a 'haunting' collection of short stories. These are not classically 'ghost' stories although there are ghosts here and there. Althogether a memorable little collection. I shall review it when Amazon stops losing people's reviews. Gnash!Just started Snuff by Terry Pratchett. I'm about a quarter of the way through and he has had me laughing aloud again. So far, it is up to - well - snuff.
I just finished The Righteous which I really enjoyed and started Killers last night. Really enjoying it so far!
Jud (judder) wrote: "I just finished The Righteous which I really enjoyed and started Killers last night. Really enjoying it so far!"Hopefully I can satisfy you to the end ;)
I only managed to read a few pages yesterday which is terrible because Sunday is usually my big reading day while Dave watches the footie. I plan on making up for it this afternoon as I think the nasty weather has settled in for the day. Killers on the couch afternoon for me!
Patti (Pennywise) wrote: "Killers on the couch afternoon for me! "For me too ! Desperately trying to finish my articles so I can just snuggle up on the sofa with my beloved kindle !
Anita wrote: "18% in Shaun & really enjoying it !!!"Pleased to hear it :)
Lorraine 110% Pure Sweetness ♥ wrote: "lol... looks like lots of satisfying to do..."
I'll do my best :)
Just finished Innocence by David Hosp which I enjoyed so much I bought the next two in the series. Have just started Death Watch by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles another author I am enjoying re reading the series before her next book is released in kindle format.
Patti I would recommend Dark Harbor as it is the first in the series. It is quite expensive now but hopefully some members bought it for 99p in the Summer sale.
