Have you seen the Sarah Waters books made into tv dramas, Caroline? I enjoyed them.

I've just finished reading The Fishing Pool and it was very good - a fast paced thriller. Just as I thought that it was predictable and knew where the story was headed - Mary has done it again and ended the book with a twist that took me completely by surprise - in the last few paragraphs my views of the characters was turned completely on it's head and left me with plenty to ponder over!
I've just started DDs book now - Broken City - and enjoying it so far!

I really enjoyed it. I think it might be YA and is very easy to read. I am looking forward to the next one.
I will be starting A Slowboat to Purgatroy
Slow Boat To Purgatory

Just finished Hollowland after the great reviews I was a little disappointed - not as good as The Hunger GamesNot sure what next - Club Deador Promise...Any recommendations?
If you've got The Facebook Killer, do try it. Part one is free, part two is dead cheap. There are some formatting and typo issues but I'm finding the story so good that I'm not minding them much. Not typical for me. First sign of formatting issues and I dump the book, usually.
Just finished Purge by Sofi Oksanen. One of my favourite reads of 2011. Powerful, fascinating but also disturbing. Now reading Mercy by Jussi Adler-Olsen
Hi everyone! I've just started 'The Sooner' by S.G. Alan because it is now availble on Kindle! Yay! This will be the second time I've read it this year! The Sooner
Finished Celebrated Crimes: The Borgias And The Cenci, started The Apothecary's Daughterand hope to start The Righteousas it has been in my tbr list for 8 months.
I finished Broken City, which I really enjoyed, and have now started The Moonstone. I wasn't planning to read that as the first of the group reads but when I realised that having chosen the book I would also become "discussion leader" I thought that I'd better get re reading it quickly to refresh my memory!

A Garden of Secrets Very good
Going to start The Righeous
The Righteous
I just finished the hangmans daughter, a good read but I thinks lacks a little in translation.Just started Holes as it was reccommended. Not sure how far through I'm going to get though after the first couple of chapters.
Just finished The Righteous and am at a loss as to what to read next... my TBR has too much choice in it... suggestions anyone ? I don't think I'll read The Moonstone as I have already read it and I have too many other books I want to read right now, and I want to leave the other group selection for a bit later in the month...
If you've already read the moonstone, there's no point in reading it again, you can still join in with the discussions later. Have you read the other read yet? Callahan's Crosstime Saloon? I'm really enjoying it so far, it's a bit different, which I like.

I haven't Karen, but I feel like reading something else for now, and leave Callahan's Crosstime Saloon for a bit later in the month. Just trying to see if spacing the group books is better for me than reading them all at once :)I think I might just go back up the thread and have a look :)
Just finished The Righteous thought provokingalso Throwing Clay Shadows (historical paranormal novel) different
now starting Punchline
Just finished Hollywood Hills. It was ok. Not great though. Going to read Nick's Feedback - A Vampire Story next before I decide on which of the groups reads to start.
Finished The Righteous. Started and finished Callahan's Crosstime Saloon and have now started My Sister's Voice.
I've finished The Moonstone and am 40% into Callahan's Crosstime Saloon and I'm also dipping in and out of Dear Coca Cola which I'm not finding nearly as funny as Dear Air 2000; as I've read other reviews who feel the opposite I think that whichever of the books that you read first you find the funniest, because they are both very similar. :0)
i just finished The Red Queen which i loved. I'm a big fan of Phillippa Gregory and hisortic novels in general. We visited the Provost Skene's house in Aberdeen cause I had never been there before and all I could picture were the characters from the book movbing about the rooms (the rooms are all done up to 16/17/18th century as they would have been when the house was used) and now i have started The Other Queen which is also good. And speaking of books well its past tea break time i'm away to read for 30 mins
Finished My Sister's voice this morning, what a great book and for free Thanks to Karen.I learned a lot about American sign language and 'deaf culture' a concept which I had not considered previously. The story had a strong plot with suspense, betrayal and a touch of romance all intermingled with family dysfunction so something for everyone.I am now going to start Mel's latest Cruel Justice.
I have just finished Richard Wildewhich I agree with others on here is an excellent read. Just started The Bones of Avalon
Lay in bed till 2pm.finishing Mels Cruel Justice,a real page turner, great plot, strong characters made all the more human by being vulnerable in their private lives and loves. The revenge theme runs not only through the villian's story but also rears it's ugly head in the lead character's story.Just a little romance and a little guilt made it a perfect read for me.Just started Impending Justice the next in the series.
I just finished The Other Queen which was really good although not the best in the series, funnily enough I didnt like it so much cause it read more factual like with less artistic license, have no idea how true it is though and just started Spider Bones which i cant wait to get stuck into Kathy reichs has to be one of my favourite authors
I've just finished The Righteous and have straight away started Mighty and Strong. Had to skip read certain bits as I'm squemish! Liked the characters though! :0)
i've just finished Spider Bones it was really good but think it ended rather suddenly for having had such a complicated plot in the middle, still loved it though. No idea what i'll read next do i go back to my kindle or do i continue reading the unread paperbacks in my bookcase....
I was getting one well with Mighty and Strong, so far preferring it to The Righteous, interesting themes from both ends of the scale - extremism and prejudice. I've had to stop though because we're in the middle of a stressful situation again and I can't read serious books like this when I'm stressed - need light relief and found the perfect antidote in A Weekend with Mr. Darcy lovely romantic chick lit with loads of Jane Austen quotes! Will definately get back to the Mighty and Strong once I've calmed down again!

Karen (Kew) wrote: "...... I can't read serious books like this when I'm stressed - need light relief and found the perfect antidote in A Weekend with Mr. Darcy lovely romantic chick lit with loads of Jane Austen quotes! "I took a look at this one & read it last night/this morning.
I still can't get interested in
but I will finish it - eventually.
I finished Mel's Cruel Justice yesterday. I enjoyed it. I'd like a change from crime/thriller but not sure what to start next. I'll probably read a few short stories before settling into another novel.
Finished Broken City and Feedback - A Vampire Story I enjoyed both. Started The Sword In The Tree hope to read it and the group reads on holiday.
