I have been reading the After Cilmeri series by Sarah Woodbury. It starts with Footsteps in Time although Daughter of Time: A Time Travel Romance is a stand alone set before the first in the series. I'm onto book 3 now and love the series.
Finished Patricia Highsmith's Deep Water, which was a bit disappointing - warming up for Ripley, I think. Now started (again) Dominion - can't believe how poor the writing is, but am hoping it will get better soon.

Tell him how much I loved his book, k?
Just finished
, #7 in the Virgil Flowers series and I enjoyed it less than the others I've read in the series, which I've absolutely loved. It played up the Flowers humour and it was really quite fluffy. So it was OK, but if I'd read it before the others in the series I'd have thought hard about reading them. Having said that, it was a re-read so I couldn't have thought that badly about it the first time round. It was just different from the others, made more use of flower's boss character, and hammed up the humour.
Michael wrote: "I'm hoping to have Andy Weir feature on my blog - fingers crossed! :-)"How exciting! :-) Could you record and film him too, Michael? Ask him how he researched all that science?
I finished reading The Martian by Andy Weir last night. LOVE it. I felt bereft after finishing the book. I just wanted to read more and more. Solid five stars from me.
Just started Under the Net by Iris Murdoch, which I'm enjoying so far (7% through).
Michael wrote: "Exciting news! I have an Andy Weir double bill next Monday and Tuesday :-)"YAY. How do I sign up?

I'm still waiting to see if the library will purchase 'the martian'. I either need to stop being such a tight arse, or put up with being late to the party.I'll be looking in.
I've just finished reading Jim Webster's excellent sci-fi thriller 'Justice 4.1':
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
I'm now onto 'Recidivist Paradox' by Mike Freeman.
Just finished Julie McLaren's fantastic Chickens. And although there are 3 battery hens in there they are entirely peripheral to the story!http://ignitebooks.blogspot.co.uk/201...

I picked up the first 4 for 77p and read and quite enjoyed them, then I found the first 8 for 77p, so had to snap that one up. It's £6.14 at the moment, so that was a great bargain.
I'm doing a monthly challenge re-read of
by Mark R. Faulkner. So far it's standing up to the re-read.
I'm in the midst of re-reading Mrs Mike.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mrs-Mike-Bene...
I snapped it up back when it was free. Bit expensive now but well worth the money, in my opinion.
A simply wonderful story. Thanks to Sarah for reminding me of it.
Does anyone know of any books set in Zambia? A friend is heading there for six months and can't find anything to give her a rounded idea of the country.
Just started
. Another re-read, ages since this was a first read for me, and I'm really enjoying it. Billy Bob Holland is such a different character, in such a different setting, and written so very differently from the Dave Robicheaux series that it almost like reading another author. Similar writing style to the Hackberry Hollland, but very different setting again. The one consistent thing is the really high and very descriptive quality of writing, and I love the way he writes without the need to 'show off', which some writers do by just being too .........wordy!
Just finished Extraordinary People and have decided not to start Ender's Game but to start The Iron King which is absolutely brilliant so far.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "That does sound like a good bargain Joo, have you read any of his other series?"Yes. They are certainly not high fiction by any means, but I find them easy to read.
I had him on a price drop watch and have picked up lots of stuff for free and less than a pound.
He has a book "Rainy Nights" which is 3 of his first books in a series. It is free at the moment. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rainy-Nights-...

Sorry, I've not read any of them.
I've started The House at Riverton by Kate Morton. It's quite good. Fans of Downton Abbey would enjoy it.

Darn good price, too.

I noticed that, but I have 2 of the three, so decided not to bother.

If you like this one you may like The Forgotten Garden by the same author or The Distant Hours
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Dave sez this is the best Africa book he's read.http://www.amazon.co.uk/State-Africa-......"
Thanks for these, Patti - she's been in South Africa quite a bit so she might know the general ones, but I'm sure she'll be grateful. When I tried searching I only found a long list of books called 'Zambia' with no descriptions or reviews!
I've just finished reading 'Edge of End' by Suren Fant and it's an ok read, but needed a bit more development:
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
Just finished The Blackhouse which was pretty good.Just started Dust hoping it is up to the first two.
Just started
. Billy Bob Holland book, mostly gloomy characters so far with a gloomy story, and the occasional brighter scene. Well told story as usual by James Lee Burke - very descriptive and evocative.
I've just finished reading the third book in Mike Freeman's 'Contact' series - 'Recidivist Paradox' and it's a cracking military sci-fi adventure with some pleasing depth. Check out my review here:
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
I'm now onto The Cabinet of Dr Blessing by Jack Rollins.
Just finished The Iron King, which started off brilliantly, but sort of tailed off towards the end. Intrigued me enough to decide I will read the rest in the series but not enough to immediately start the next one. So, now reading The Long Mars
I've just finished reading Dylan J Morgan's excellent sci-fi adventure 'The Dead Lands'. You can read my review here:
