Just finished The Tightrope Walkers which I really really loved, and just started A Short Film About Serial Killing which is OK with some misgivings so far.

Finished and I say WOW! stunning.
Just finished
, which was not too bad.Just started
which looks pretty good, maybe it could even get close to his dad's stuff.
Just finished
. It was a re-read and i really enjoyed it for the 2nd time. i love the Virgil Flowers character, and the fact that Sandford writes humour without diluting the story line which is this case is pretty amazing considering how dark it actually is. Just started another Sandford re-read, another in the Flowers series
Finished Hostile Justice, and started Confessions of a GP. Can heartily recommend the Justice series.
I've just finished reading 'Ship of Storms' by Ken Dogget. It has some good ideas, but doesn't fully follow them through. STill an okay read though:
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
I'm now onto 'Necropolis' by Guy Portman which I'm enjoying so far.
I have finished Solace in Scandal - Kimberly Dean, was a enticing read. Now I think I will read Black Swan Rising - Lee Carroll.
Just finished In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. I am now reading The Legend of The Holy Drinker by Joseph Roth.
Guy wrote: "Just finished In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. I am now reading The Legend of The Holy Drinker by Joseph Roth."In Cold Blood, wow. Now there's a great book. What did you think, Guy?

It was in my cloud and now it's on my kindle.
I'm looking forward to this one on your's and everyone else's reccie!
Thanks for mentioning it, Pat!
Just started James Oswald's Dead Men's Bones - good start, mixture as before with the same great characters.
The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing is an insanely long and involved read. I can't wait to move onto The Martian by Andy Weir!
Just finished The Shakespeare Secret. Mediocre! Over long! This started off really well, although the American slant on the English setting made me smile more than once. But it was well paced, interesting subject and really drew me in. But the pace drops terribly and the booked becomes a tedious, improbable series of chases from one location to another with private planes to make it all easier and no real sense of reality.
Also, the scene in the past felt shoe horned in and added nothing for me to the extent that towards the end of the book I was skipping through these.
In the end I was keen for it to end and I was left feeling that the book was far too long to the extent that I didn't much care what the ending was.

about an hour ago. Superb. As ever Coben grabs hold and compels you to keep reading. He does first person as well as anyone I've ever read and his characters are brilliant. I will be tired in the morning because I'm reading more of this before bed.
I read Alice Parker & the Curse of Fate, if you enjoyed the previous Alice Parker books this one is just as good :o) I loved it
Jamie wrote: "Started

Just finished
by Michael Murray. Thoroughly recommended!Whoops - edit to add review! http://ignitebooks.blogspot.co.uk/201...
Just started (for the village book group)
Just finished
which was interesting - make a mailing list basically.I've returned to
after a break - I'm about halfway through it on my 3rd read of it all.
- just started. People say you should read Chekhov for his storytelling abillities, so I am.
Have just finished The Solitude of Thomas Cave: A Novel, which was sheer delight. I think Georgina Harding's writing is exceptional - this is the third novel of hers I've read. Now reading The Lady's Slipper, which was one my mum enjoyed as a talking book.
I've posted my review for Guy Portman's excellent dark novel 'Necropolis'.
http://thecultofme.blogspot.co.uk/201...
It's a deliciously dark read!
I'm now onto AI Apocalypse by William Hertling which is off to a cracking start.
I've posted my review for WIlliam Hertling's fascinating cyber-thriller 'A.I. Apocalypse':

I'm now on to 'Justice 4.1' by Jim Webster and it's off to a good start.
Just finished
L, another Virgil Flowers book and ut was as usual really great. Just started
. Another Virgil Flowers, which is a re-read, and although I'm enjoying it, it's a lot fluffier so far than the usual.

I'm looking forward to reading this - I'll share the review around.
Just finished Six Years Top notch. I'm a huge Coben fan primarily because of his Bolitar novels. The pace of this is relentless, it's quite violent in places towed o. But Coben injects his books with a wise cracking humour that I love. I suspect this could annoy people but it works for me.
Plot wise, it's a lost love scenario but far from typical and the first fifty pages throw so much at you that's it's impossible to guess what's going on. But as ever with Coben, you have to keep reading.

Sounds good. I like the Bolitar books too so I'll be giving Six Years a go soon!
I finished A Town Called Alice a couple days ago. Was really good but I did find the casual racism and misogyny off-putting. I know, it's of it's time, but still. I'm now rereading Sai King's Blaze. I thought about trying that Wool that I've heard so much about but I've no idea if I've got the proper, full version. I also seem to have it in bits.
Anyone read it?

I *think* he's another indie who has been picked up by a publisher...
Wool was a slow starter for me, Patti, that kept grabbing me and letting go. Can't tell you the reason as it would be too spoilerish. But a good way in it got better and kept my attention. Well worth a read. This is the version I read:
Thanks David. That's seems to be the first part? I think it's in four parts?Would you bother reading the whole thing? More to the point, would you pay money for it?
Wool is a trilogy: wool; shift; dust. As I understand it the first part of the trilogy was written as a series of novellas then compiled as a novel when it was complete. I think that shows in the finished novel and was part of the reason it took a while to grab me. In the end though I gave it five*, as much for the writing style as for the story. I borrowed it from the library, but I wouldn't have been disappointed had I spent money on it. Having said that I haven't rushed into reading parts 2 & 3, although I will at some point.
