Am working my way through Patricia Highsmith's Ripley books, so hve now started The Boy Who Followed Ripley. I love her plotting and the elegant yet economical prose. It is just so perfect.

Impressed!
I finished Wish which was a bit naff but improved as I got further in to it and I ended up enjoying it a lot. No idea what to read next
Just finished The Diary of a Nobody by George and Weedon Grossmith. Pretty damned funny (my review).Just started Pages for You by Sylvia Brownrigg, the Lesbian Book Club's book of the month (romance genre). Student-teacher relationship.--Right up my street.
Started the Ian Rankin last night in bed. Saints of the Shadow Bible. It's immediately drawn me in, but then I love Rebus as a character and Edinburgh as a setting. It's dark, but the dialogue etc is witty and the plot as topical as ever. I just know it's going to be a winner.
Just finished Ethan Justice: Incendiary by Simon Jenner. Excellent and exciting!http://ignitebooks.blogspot.co.uk/201...
I'm doing a bit of beta-reading for the next few days. I hate that term but I can't think of a better one!

Have now finished The Boy Who Followed Ripley in my Ripleyfest. Didn't think it was as good or as suspenseful as the earlier ones. Just got Ripley Under Water to read now. I've really enjoyed her style.
Just started
Or fly up, and revolve it all slowly -
I kill where I please because it is all mine.
There is no sophistry in my body:
My manners are tearing off heads -
Just finished Home Again, Home Again - Nadine Christian. Now I am picking up Angels Dawn - Komali da Silva.
I finished
by Alan JonesMainly set in a 70s Glasgow CID station, so the language is a bit uncouth, but it's more than that. It goes on to be the relationship between a rookie CID officer and the father of the murdered boy and spans decades. A rather good read.

Goodreads needs a 'like' button sometimes. I'm halfway through now and enjoying it muchly too. I wouldn't call it romance so far. :)
Kath wrote: "Only Amazon told you it was a romance! I never did!;)"
MUST be romance, 'cos there's a wedding with a dashing, sexy bridegroom and everything.

There is? Damn! Amazon sent me the wrong book.
Just finished Family Ties by Hans M. Hirschi. Hans recently wrote a blog post explaining that he is fluent in 12 languages, and English is not his first, but he writes very well in it. I think there is an element of grammatical peculiarity about the narrative because of this, but it is an incredible book.Just starting...no idea, to be honest. I'll decide at some point this evening, when I'm done editing my current WIP mess!

Natasha (Diarist) wrote: "Unplanned drinking? That is true debauchery."Indeed! And through a straw, too! :)
Debbie wrote: "Indeed! And through a straw, too! :)"O*M*G. I thought I was large-ing it on homebrew alcoholic ginger beer. But you take the prize.
Natasha (Diarist) wrote: "Liking the profile, Debbie. "I'm a socialist and that's how I do business."
That is super-cool."
Thanks! :D
Stuart wrote: "She is super-cool in real life too!"So's he! :) (Cheers, Stu!)
Natasha - I've just read the entire sample of your book on Amazon! I didn't even realise until it said, "Enjoyed this sample?" I guess that's a 'yes'!

Sounds amazing! I'm on the fake Baileys and coffee liqueur! (Stu will love that, not!)

Am planning to dive into your excerpts tomoz, Debbie, when I've recovered from the homebrew :-) #bookmarked
Natasha (Diarist) wrote: "You've been snooping in my diary"Oh yes! You did kind of leave it out in the open!
Good luck with the homebrew recovery!
And to bring it back on topic...
Just started: Lesbian Crushes and Bulimia: A Diary on How I Acquired My Eating Disorder.
Debbie wrote: "Just started: Lesbian Crushes and Bulimia: A Diary on How I Acquired My Eating Disorder."You made me blush..
Which of yours do you think I might enjoy most, Debbie?
(I'll check them out myself tomorrow too :)
Kath wrote: "Sounds like I wrote the wrong book! ;)"You wrote a damn fine book. I liked it lots and lots.
So, where's the next one, then?
Whoo! Glad you enjoyed it, David!Next one's written but it will be out late Spring or early summer, I suspect. Got to give Ravenfold its moment in the sun first!

I shall sit here patiently(ish) awaiting the new one then.
Debbie wrote: "Not sure - what do you read? Possibly Double Six? I'm basing that on what you write though."That question was just so hard last night! Was cross-eyed on homebrew by that time :-) Favourite books of last year were The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling and The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson.
It's a hard question actually. I like lesbians and comedy and Bill Bryson. I don't like historical fiction. ... Um?? ...

Little known fact: I wrote a novel about a rock band. That band is called Transmission, named after a Joy Division song.

Second play I ever wrote was about an ahem Joy Division fan 5 years on. Went up to the Edinburgh Fringe with it!
Ha. Coincidences eh?I only hope you had more success with the play than I had with the novel.
It all seems so long ago now. Except those days when it seems like only yesterday.
Just finished Unicorn Western. Not bad - a western with farting unicorns and magic.Interesting idea too. The way these authors make the first book of each series free, then offer discounts on buying the whole collection in one go.
Funnels they call them in their Write. Publish. Repeat..
David wrote: "Ha. Coincidences eh?I only hope you had more success with the play than I had with the novel.
"
Ha don't think so! Our venue in Edinburgh was a bus station and every so often the play was punctuated by announcements of buses pulling out. It was appropriate for a piece about urban alienation though!
Natasha (Diarist) wrote: "It's a hard question actually. I like lesbians and comedy and Bill Bryson. I don't like historical fiction. ... Um?? ... "Only just saw this - sorry! I'll stay with Double Six then! You're welcome to try any of them and give up though, if they're not your cup of tea.
I've read your book. In one day! Amazing!
