"THE HUNGER, by Alma Katsu: Deeply, deeply disturbing, hard to put down, not recommended reading after dark." Stephen King on Twitter.

I was able to meet Mrs. Katsu today at a writer's conference she was leading a workshop on conflict in fiction. She is a natural teacher and knows her stuff. The Hunger is full of tension and suspense.

A Long December .is a very large collection of stories by Richard T. Chizmar.

"Powerful...I love it...Richard Chizmar writes clean, no-nonsense prose...sets his tales in no-nonsense, middle class neighborhoods I can relate to...and writes terrific stories served with a very large slice of Disquiet Pie." ~ Stephen King

Reading this one right now. Making me squirm a bit in places; sometimes creepy, a lot of times disturbing, very well written.
