Jax | 15 comments Started reading this yesterday and I am completely hooked...currently 74% of the way through (would have finished it but sadly work interrrupted my reading time!)

Its a real page turner Steve!

Thanks for trying Janet, but I ditched Facebook the same day I set it up. I dropped a note in here somewhere to that effect. I though it would take up too much time. There are lots of Steve Robinsons out there. A more original name would have been better. I blame my parents for that. :o)

Lisa | 75 comments 51% and thoroughly enjoying this book. I usually stay well clear of anything with an historical twist but this has me hooked. Wish I wasn't so busy over the next few days.

Good to hear from you, Lisa. I've said it before, but It's really gratifying to know that someone out there is enjoying reading my book. Thank you.

Finished it last night - loved it! Will leave a review soon, I'm not very good at them so like to think about it a bit first - will be another 5 stars though. :0)

Steve: I've set it as my status on Facebook and recommended it to my `Family Tree mad` sis-in-law. That should bump sales by ooh..... 00.5% or so :)

Seriously, good luck with it and future books though.

Thanks Gary, every 0.5% helps. And maybe some big film producer will see it on your Facebook page and take an interest! :o) Glad you liked it.

I was really keeping my fingers crossed that you liked it, Karen. Given that it's all largely down to you that so many people are now reading it. Big smilie :O))

All I did was invite you to join us on goodreads - the subject matter of your book intrigued people and led to Simon choosing at as the book of the month!

There it is then... 'You' invited me. In fact, that was the singular point of good luck from which everything else may now stem. A reviewer for the Guardian might come across it as a result of the Amazon reviews or by word of mouth from someone who knew someone who read it here. It really is all your fault and I thank you for it. :o)

Why don't you leave a message saying how good your book is on a celebs mobile phone. That way you might get it noticed by a journalist :)

TC | 15 comments I'm now 73% through, hoping to finish it in the morning. Really enjoying it so far, and wondering if my suspicions will prove right.

I did have to re-read a bit at the start to try and get the names and relationships straight, but then I have that problem with my own family tree! Having got into the story it's not an issue.

Can't say much in here without spoiling - was about to say something but quickly caught myself. Let's talk more in the Q&A section when you've finished. On another note, if your suspicions are right, I think you should get a prize because, amazingly, no one else second guessed anything apparently.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just looked at the reviews on your Blog Steve. I was a bit stung by Sue Smith's comments about your hero not being sufficiently young and fit! Thank you for elevating the old and flabby to hero status. There are lots of us who empathised with him!

Yes, I didn't want a stereotype kind of hero. JT is definitely the 'unsung' kind. He told me he needs to be fitter though if I'm going to make him chase around all over the place so it's something he'll be working on in the first series of the 'Jefferson Tayte mysteries'. Though with his penchent for Hershey's chocolate I'm not sure how it will go.

I'm another cheese fan!

Steve - if Jefferson keeps on getting chased around like this he will naturally lose weight without having to do anything else about it! :0)

message 136: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Nah, I've tried that - you just get hungrier and reach for the cheese/hersheys!

message 137: by [deleted user] (new)

Ingnite wrote: "Nah, I've tried that - you just get hungrier and reach for the cheese/hersheys!"

Is it just me, but I hate Hersheys! They taste like someone has added soap to the ingredients - ugh!

message 138: by Steve (new)

Steve Robinson (steverobinson) | 2926 comments Mr Goodbar, Tayte's favourite, is quite nice. Bought a bag of miniatures back from a ski trip some years ago before JT was born. I'm not keen on them either though. i suppose it might depend on what you were brought up on. Hershey's must be doing something right for a lot of people.

message 139: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I grew up on Hershey's. It does taste of soap. Or perfume. Or something.
I prefer galaxy or a really good quality dark chocolate.
Now cheese. I adore cheese!

(wow it's hard to type in a moving car!)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments i've never had hersheys chocolate... I do love cherry lips though and they taste more like soap than cherries so maybe hersheys is the chocolate for me :o) Got a twirl in the fridge cant wait to get stuck into that after dinner

message 145: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments "a twirl in the fridge" reminds me of a friend who said she'd had a boost in bed. We all wanted one! (Do they still make Boost bars I wonder?)

They do!!! I had the pleasure of enjoying a boost on my way home from work during the week (not quite as exciting as having a boost in bed but it filled a hole)

Edit: me thinks i could have picked a better choice of words

Jud, I saw that you'd answered it. Am I imagining it all? It was there, wasn't it?

Can you find it?
