I definetely recommend it! I would say its set some place like Texas or such you won't regret the read!
i didn't understand what this book was about.
I also recommend this one. It's warm and nice story. It somehow remind me about Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
You should read it!
It's a beutiful story about the realtionship with Calpurnia and her grandfather.

it's and amazing read. Truthfully i wouldn't normally read a book like this because i'm more of the "paranormal romance" type of reader. But i gave it a try&i absolutely loved it!(:
I's about a girl finding herself in science. It's about friendship as well.
it's about a girl who is really interested in scientific stuff like Charles Darwin and her grandpa is sorta like a scientist. i think he lives with her family and she develops a close relationship with him.
I sooooooo disagree! I absolutely loved this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is about a girl who, in the beginning, is not sure about what she wants to do with her life. She hates doing traditional work (like cooking and stitching and knitting), but what else is there really to do? Then she starts doing things with her grandfather, who is a naturalist/scientist and loves is! Now I will not spoil anything else, but i HIGHLY recommend this book.

I did like this book in the beginning, but felt the middle fell apart, and the end fell flat. I would only recommend it to people who really like historical fiction without much regard for plot. (There wasn't one.)
It is set in Texas for those who asked.

I really thought this was a great book and want my granddaughters to read it..
Such an intriguing and inspiring read. Totally recommend for all ages 10+
It is about a girl who is turning 12 at the turn of the century (1899). She is the only girl in a family of boys. Her mother wants her to be a lady and Calpurnia is only interested in science. Her grandfather lives with them and is an amateur scientist, who happens to have met Charles Darwin. In Calpurnia's pursuit to learn science and to be herself, she develops a valuable friendship with her grandfather, learns about the scientific develops of the day, and some very important lessons about getting along with people. It's a very well written story.
