The End of the Alphabet
a novel by CS Richardson
ASSIGNMENT FOR OCTOBER 3, 2008 pages 62 - 91
Remember to pick out one sentence, or paragraph from the week’s reading that you especially like.
Pay attention to that as you are reading.
We’ve already talked about two times that Ambrose and Zipper met. On pages 63 & 64 we learn about the first time they met.
What gifts did Ambrose and Zipper exchange?
What was the significance of the gifts?
What did the letter E stand for?
The letter F?
What’s going on with the dapper Italian man who bumps into their table at the piazza?
What is surprising about the photograph that the Italian man shows them of his wife?
On pages 75 – 77 we read about Ambrose’s dream. What’s the deal with the camel?
What can you say about the dream?
What is the significance of the “Bedouin woman” whom Zipper sees?
What do the letters G, H, & I stand for? (pages 83-85)
G
H
I
What confrontation Ambrose and Zipper have on pages 88 & 89?
Where do you draw the line between someone’s desire to know what you are thinking and your own right to your own private thoughts?
We start to learn what the tension between Zipper and Ambrose is really about. What is it?
On page 90, Ambrose says to Zipper basically: “This is happening to me not to you. What are you so upset about?”
What do you think about that?
Favorite sentence, paragraph, or page this week??
