Dani Jones There's no question Freaky Deaky is one of the greatest novels of our time. All readers should feel honored and blessed to behold such a masterpiece. Move aside Mark Twain, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, Elmore Leonard is this century's greatest American author.
Let's just say, it's definitely not an easy read. Every page is chockfull of symbols, hidden meanings, metaphors, and connections to the outer academic and historical world. WHOA! The fact that he was clever enough to name the only red-head Ginger is pure genius. Like I said, greatest American author of our time. His reference to Robin's braid is possibly one of the most astounding literary effects ever to have been written.
It is only reasonable to suggest that Elmore Leonard be nominated for the Pulitzer prize, and let's be honest, he's a shoe-in for the Nobel Peace prize. If people like this ran our country, the world would be a better place. In conclusion, Elmore Leonard for the 2013 presidential election.
So, thank-you to the man, the legend, Elmore Leonard.

Daniel Wow - That is some praise. Question - Which of his books should I grab and read next? I enjoyed this one. I do think he would make a great President (he would have plenty of time to write books)

I really like Elmore Leonard's work, but think Dani's review is extreme and disagree on a few points. On to the next, I would recommend Maximum Bob for your reading list. Also, Mr. Leonard is 86 and although he is still working as a tv producer, his age would probably be disadvantageous for President.

Andrea Really enjoyed Maximum Bob, I'd add some personal faves: Tishomingo Blues, Riding the Rap, and City Primeval. Not to neglect Rum Punch, Get Shorty and even Be Cool (much better than the movie) But, really, they're all good, nobody gets it down quite like our man Elmore! (and presidents might be advised to add his novels to thier reading lists)
