Rachel I scrolled through the comments here, and I'm not sure if anyone mentioned her or not, but if you haven't heard of or read any of her books, you should definitely check them out! Her name is Sheri Reynolds, and her website is www.sherireynolds.com. I love Walley Lamb, especially "She's Come Undone"., and all of Sheri's books I rate right up there with Wally's.

Katherine Good in Bed also has a very strong woman as a main character; both She's Come Undone and Good in Bed are among my favorites. I am currently reading the Outlander series, and the main characters in this are very strong leads too. Good luck finding new books!

Carrie,
I recommend The Rapture of Canaan by Sheri Reynolds. I read it a long time ago,and remembered loving the book.
Personally, I love reading anything that leaves a long felt impression.

Rachel,
Thanks for mentioning Sheri Reynolds in your message to Carrie. I've been wishing to read something that would be as satisfying as The Rapture of Canaan.

Recently I've been wanting to recall the author's name and the exact title of that book. I suppose I could have tried looking up The Rapture. Now I have the author's name to search.
Do you have favorites of Reynolds?

Linda Templeton Read all the Wally Lamb books and loved all of them!

Elisabet I loved She's Come Undone. I also had to remind myself throughout the book that a man wrote it. I actually started thinking Wally lamb was a pen name. He gave me the desire and confidence to write in first person as a man. I'll know from reviews if I was successful. I have been living out of the country and was not aware of I Know This Much is True, but plan to pick up a copy. The Darkest Child by Delores Phillips is an incredible story that will make a reader call into work ill to stay home and read this book to the end. The protagonist reminded me of Delores.

Anastasia Robinson All these suggestions are great-I love 2 books that are memoirs called Stillwater and Blackbird. They are by Jennifer Lauck(?) I believe. Amazing stories of her life. A;ll of Wally Lamb's books are wonderfully written.

Elisabet Also read Just to Be Held www.elisabetcairo.com

It is the story of two women trying to find their place in the world, not realizing the effects that religion, culture, and fairy tales have played in their upbringing and caused them to make decisions throughout life that carried negative consequences.

You have to read When I Was Jane. Strong female voice...humor...inspiration. it fixes everything people hated about shes come undone but manages to nail the things we loved about it. You will not believe this book.

Kadijah Michelle I would suggest reading The Bell Jar. It was because of Sylvia Plath female characters where able to explain their decent into madness.
