SpongeBob SquarePants (Eamon C) | 1 comments I felt sorry for Joff. He was a nice guy, just misunderstood.

Yeah, i'm sure all saddists/psycopaths/big headed jerks are dead nice on the inside...
By the way, don't blame the incest thing as danyereas is ultimately from descendants of incest, and she didn't become blood thirsty jerk, so why should joffery?
Don't blame cersei or jaime either, as mycella and tommen turned out fine.
In short, joffery is an arrogant, self centered bastad(used in the proper sense) who enjoys frightening and attacking defenceless people and boasting about things he hasn't got a clue about. What a nice and misunderstood guy...

message 153: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1 comments I'm only on book two, but I have to say Sansa and Jamie are starting to grow on me. In book one I wasn't a fan of them, and now they seem like stronger characters. However, I still cannot stand Joffrey or Cersei. Also I now really don't like Theon Greyjoy. He just annoys me so much.

message 154: by Syed (new)

Syed | 4 comments Walder Frey
Joffrey
The bastard of Bolton
Cersei
Tywin

message 155: by Shii (new)

Shii (shiisreading) | 75 comments I can't stand Brienne....There are no reasons I could put into words. She's boring...maybe.

I hate Selyse Baratheon. I don't even know her that well but what a crazy bitch.

I have mix fillings towards Victarion. Someone? Opinions on Victarion?

message 156: by Elínborg (new)

Elínborg Pálsdóttir (ellymus) | 4 comments Beside the normal bad guys everybody dislikes, like Joffrey and Ramsay Bolton/Snow there is Sansa Stark, Asha Greyjoy, Bran Stark and Lysa Tully.

It's nothing personal with Bran, it's just I don't find his chapters to be very exciting and tend to sigh in dismay when I open up on one of them.

Sansa Stark originally got on my nerves because of how ignorant she was and what an asshole she was to Arya, but later when she discovered fairy tales aren't real, she just kept that annoying weakness of being a woman in need of rescue. She is getting better in the 4th book but I still think she could have done a lot more.

Asha Greyjoy is too full of herself. That's it. Fun character though.

Lysa Tully is basically crazy and everytime she opened her mouth my stomach clenched in anticipation of the next stupid thing she'd say. But like Asha, she's a great character which you love to hate :D

message 157: by Christian (new)

Christian (christiansnow) | 1 comments Little Finger is my most hated character in the books, and I hate to say this but I think he'll survive through to the last book. He is a conniving, manipulative creep.

Though I do believe that his obsession with Sansa is going to be his downfall.

message 158: by Paul (new)

Paul "FitzChivalry" Wilson | 24 comments Danaerys is my least favourite character she is just a whinny, petulant, spoiled little teenager with visions of grandure " The Iron Throne is mine by right " No it is not your family were usurped Stannis is next in line for the throne which makes you a rebel.

message 159: by M (new)

M | 1 comments The most hateful character are Roose Bolton and Ramsay Snow

message 160: by Jackieb (new)

Jackieb | 4 comments I don't hate Cersei, but I will say I think she's absolutely looney tunes. When she ordered ...what's his name..."not to die" I actually actually said, "What" out loud.

I can't stand Lysa Tully Arryn. She was so in love with Petyr Baelish that she killed her own husband and is one of the reasons the war starts. She's so treacherous.

message 161: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not getting all the hate for Asha Greyjoy. I love tough, competent women warriors in fantasy and she's the best that ASOIAF has to offer in that category. Brienne is boring, Ygritte is tough but a little too dependent on her feminine wiles, and Dany is not really a warrior herself, she just sits around while her dragons and followers do the fighting. Arya is a badass in training, but she's not there yet. I'd love to see Asha sitting the Seastone chair when all is said and done.

If he's a bastard, why are you calling him Bolton? He's Ramsay Snow :P
And I find it weird that you mention him and Walder Frey but not Roose Bolton, since he killed Robb. You have to hate Roose too. Let's hate him.

Also... Cersei? Redemption? I think you're mistaking humilliation with repentance. I think she will continue on her path until it destroys her. But that's me, maybe I'm wrong.

PS: I disliked Sansa for a while, but then I started to analyze her character and I believe she has more depth and intelligence than one could notice at first sight. I think soon she will show us how much she has change from the dumb child that dreamt about songs of knights in shining armor.

message 163: by Holly (new)

Holly (goldikova) You have to hate Roose Bolton just for being a leech-o-file creepfest. Ugh!

Joffrey - what a hideous little psycho.

While I don't hate Cersei, she annoys me to no end. Always whining about how she can't do what she wants because she is a woman.....and look at how she treats women! She is an unforgivable misogynist. Her narcissistic delusions can be amusing. I'm also convinced that her narcissism is the reason for her relationship with Jaime......since Cersei only truly loves herself, her only satisfying relationship has to be with her twin.

message 164: by Simone (new)

Simone Francois (simonefrncs) | 14 comments I am on book three, So for me that would be Roose Bolton. I do not dislike him because of his part in betrayal of the Starks, but his overall manner and behavior.

message 165: by Karen (new)

Karen Azinger | 256 comments I like Cersei much better on HBO than I do in the books. The screenwriters have made her more intelligent and more sympathetic, a more multidimensional character. In the book she's just an evil bitch.

message 166: by Franzi (new)

Franzi I don't like Cersei since I've been a huge Stark fan at reading it for the first time (i'm an Starkfan now, too, but i'm going to like characters nos, not houses).
I also hate Lancel, because of fucking his cousin and also for becoming like he becomes after his hurt.
Then there was Sansa at the beginning of the story, but with growing, i begin to like her.
I also hate the Mountain, for doing that to his younger brother, even if i don't like Sandor.
I also started hating Lisa Arryn/Tully, because of just doing nothing.
Then there's Theon Greyjoy, just for being so selfish. I wanted to like at my first read, but i couldn't, and now i'm hating him for forgetting the rules of his home AND for what he does to the Starks.

message 167: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) Don't understand the Sansa hate, she's grown a lot since Ned died.

I guess my most hated characters would be Ramsay Snow/Bolton, Joffrey, The Mountain. They had no redeeming quality whatsoever and were just pure evil.

message 168: by Lia (new)

Lia | 13 comments Hard because they are all so damaged. Even the Hound. Cersei is too stupid to dislike. Crater because he's disgusting and Littlefinger because he's evil.

message 169: by Eyehavenofilter (new)

Eyehavenofilter | 764 comments There is something really wrong with Boltons bastard...he nerds to be put down!

message 170: by Whitley (new)

Whitley | 3 comments Bran

I don't dislike him the most in terms of the character itself, I just find the chapters from his pov painfully boring and feel like they are so detached from the rest of the story that they seem pointless.
I know that they will probably play a part in the last 2 books but that is just how I feel

message 171: by Carlos Eduardo (new)

Carlos Eduardo Madureira Trufen (kdutrufen) | 5 comments Joffrey is the worst. His mother is awful, too.

message 172: by Darren (new)

Darren Turner | 11 comments I don't really dislike any of characters as they all have there place within the story.

But the most evil of the characters have to be
1. Ramsay
2. Joffrey
3. Littlefinger
4. The Mountain
5. Cersei

message 173: by Thomas (new)

Thomas | 114 comments 1)Ramsay Snow (He is a bastard)
2)Joffrey
3)Robert Arryn
4)Lisa "Bat-shit-crazy" Arryn
5)Grand Maester Pycelle (such a sleazy kiss up to the Lannisters)

I don't know why people dislike Littlefinger. I group him in the respectable bad guy category along with Tywin. True, he has done a lot of bad but without him the story wouldn't really exist. The guy came from nowhere and look where he is at the end of book 5.

I'm thinking that maybe Robert will follow Jaime Lannister in becoming a more sympathetic character now that his circumstances have changed so drastically. The little fellow certainly seems more pathetic and vulnerable now that he is no longer being raised by his (s)mother.

I hope so. He certainly does have an interesting upbringing. It would be cool to see him transform into a leader of the Vale and an ally for the Starks. I hope Vale has more to play in the story because they've been so isolated so far.

message 176: by Holly (new)

Holly (goldikova) I can see the Vale coming in at a crucial turning point in the plot and changing the course of events.

message 177: by Remy (new)

Remy Blas (remyblas) | 247 comments Of course the Vale will play an important part in the story. Littlefinger is there, plotting, and there almost wouldn't be a song of ice and fire if it weren't for him. Or at least it would be a very different story.

message 178: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bec_mahar) | 8 comments Easily Ramsay Snow & Roose Bolton.
Good to know I'm not the only one who doesn't actually hate Littlefinger. I know I'm meant to but i just can't bring myself to dislike him for some strange reason.

I feel exactly the same about Littlefinger. It's the beauty of a good villain, that it's somehow admirable, respectable. That, and also I don't think Petyr has done something that's exactly cruel or evil. Bad, yes, but not really evil. He betray Ned, but Ned was doomed to failure from day one. And he did some good things like saving Sansa from King's Landing and helping in getting rid of Joffrey.

Karen Azinger | 256 comments all the Freys (they should die horribly!)
Ramsey Snow (too disgusting)
Brienne the Boring (way, way too boring, which is a shame because I love chicks in chainmail)
Theon (because he reeks...jut put him out of his misery and spare us from reading more)

message 182: by Manoushka (new)

Manoushka (lover_of_many_fandoms) | 13 comments 1. Walder Frey
2. Roose Bolton
3. Ramsay Snow
The first two simply because I hate treachery
Snow is just a sick SOB

I must say Cersei was at the top of the list earlier in the series but my hatred for her has turned to dislike.

Donald | 17 comments Its hard for me to dislike most of the character's
Lysa arryn and Robert are easy to dislike but they don't count
I'd have to pick Ned stark
He let the whole realm go to shit because of his precious honor

message 185: by Mary (new)

Mary Cheney (marypcheney) | 14 comments Wow, there are a few lol. Joffrey Baratheon,Theon Greyjoy, Roose Bolton, Ramsey Snow, The Mountain, and Walder Frey.

message 186: by Kirstin (new)

Kirstin | 15 comments I definitely agree with Walder Frey. I think he's possibly my most disliked.

message 187: by Anthony (new)

Anthony Farshaw | 8 comments Stannyboy Baratheon, his loony wife and his Red Witch
Walder Frey
Any Lannister whose name is not Tyrion
Littlefinger

Sansa Stark
Catelyn Stark
Lysa and Robert Arryn
Pycelle

Thesoundthereis | 4 comments Sad to say but I hate Daenerys. I can't even bring myself to love to hate her. She's one of the most annoying literary characters I've ever come across (and I've read Romeo and Juliet ;)).

message 189: by Joey (new)

Joey | 4 comments Ramsay
Joffrey
Walder Frey
Cersei + Jaime

I love to hate lil finger, but he's a great character/villain. I like to think of him as the Palpatine of the series.

message 190: by Brooklyn (new)

Brooklyn Tayla (bookishbrooklyn) | 77 comments I hate that Joffrey. He's such a prat. I wasn't overly fond of Jamie at first, but when George R.R Martin started writing from his POV it was just incredible. He's pretty amazing. (Jamie).
I loved the arc with him and Brienne.

Joffrey. I think he's the only character I really ever hated in the series. They were times I didn't like Catelyn - when she was so harsh to Jon - but then she redeemed herself after the confessed she prayed for his life.

I'm not really a fan of Theon - but I can't say I hate him. He's horrible but he had his reasons. Obviously he should've never done what he did. The Starks had taken him in & that's what he did to repay them.

Cersei is horrible- but I love her! She's fierce and not afraid to back down. She loves her children and would do anything for them. I must admit I admire Cersei actually.

message 191: by Remy (new)

Remy Blas (remyblas) | 247 comments Has anyone played Telltale's Game of Thrones videogame? The first episode made Ramsay Snow go way up in my list of hated characters. He's a cruel and vicious asshole.

message 192: by Brooklyn (new)

Brooklyn Tayla (bookishbrooklyn) | 77 comments Nope but I'm definitely interested. Actually not a fan of Ramsey Snow at any rate.

message 193: by Remy (new)

The game is awesome. Give it a try if you get the chance.

message 194: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 392 comments I don't have a particularly hated character, as they all have their intriguing and infuriating elements. With Joffrey, well what can you expect from a boorish neglectful buffoon of a father and a self-centred egomaniac of a mother, clearly no enduring redeeming values were to be obtained there. If anything I dislike Robb and Eddard for being naive. If they had stayed in the north where snow is snow and cold is cold they wouldn't have gotten messed up in situations they could not handle and while I do not condone what Walder Frey did, come on Robb, all you had to do was marry the Frey girl, cement the alliance and go from there, but no, you had to be a boy-knight from your sister's rose-tinted fantasies and fall in love with a no-account daughter of a Lannister groupie, clearly you weren't king material. Like Robert you could lead battles and win them but lacked the savvy to negotiate the more treacherous parts.

message 195: by Anthony (new)

Anthony Farshaw | 8 comments Woolfie wrote: "With Joffrey, well what can you expect from a boorish neglectful buffoon of a father and a self-centred egomaniac of a mother, clearly no enduring redeeming values were to be obtained there."

...and that's why Myrcella and Tommen are such sweet kids, unlike Joffrey.

message 196: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 392 comments Well the fact he's the eldest means that most of it is poured onto him. Being a venomous mother and neglectful father is apparently hard work, plus with no pressure on them to be the hair, one could argue that they've been spared, but we've not seen enough of them to know how much damage has been done if at all.

message 197: by Holly (new)

Holly (goldikova) From what I can remember from the books Cersei badgered and dominated Tommen whereas she spoiled and entitled Joffrey until she had no control over him.

message 198: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 392 comments Yes, one was an overindulged golden prince while the other was a coerced little boy. Perhaps she realised the mistake she made with the brat, but given that it's Cersei, I doubt she saw Joffrey's development into a petty, snivelling sadistic coward with a God complex as a bad thing.

message 199: by Hiro (new)

Hiro Hamada | 15 comments Ramsay Bolton. He's just sick, ugh.

message 200: by Hiro (new)

Hiro Hamada | 15 comments I forgot to state my reasons for Ramsay, but I guess it's not needed ... he's just a sick bastard, I can't stand him.

Strangely though I enjoyed Theon's chapters in A Dance With Dragons. It's funny how people's opinions differ so much: there are people who love Jaime (like me), hate him, and Sansa is another subject ... that's how great GRRM is at writing such a complex story that each of us has to judge by himself / herself rather than just an obvious main character we all root for. So yeah, I don't find Theon annoying. He's quite realistic and sympathetic. Jaime's also my favorite character.
