Grandaddy's? I don't know whether to laugh or be frightened, very frightened.

What? Suga..."

Granddaddy's had a lit up floor like the one Travolta danced on in "Saturday Night Fever." I did a LOT of dancing there.

They never go out of fashion. I'm still hoping to find that magical room like the kids did in 'Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe'.

Just curious. Does Barry Gibb still have all his hair?

Catalina | 268 comments Except for the few things listed above, I think most stuff I thought was great as a kid is STILL magical. Hell, I still love stickers and am a passionate collector of flavored lip glosses.

Totally. I had one a couple of weeks back and I just thought "I used to think this was big deal?!" Not impressed anymore, although now you can get a special aluminum Slurpee straw that keeps it from melting on the arduous journey from the cup to your mouth.

No. But my roommates did. And watching it is so much better than experiencing it. I had Christmas Story flashbacks.

Amy Neftzger (neftzger) | 304 comments I kept thinking about A Christmas Story when you mentioned it. And now I'm thinking about who should get one of these as a holiday gift from me this year...

message 122: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments I don't remember, I just remember it came out in the theaters every Christmas.

It's me, back in 1984, just about to re-enter the work force after nine months of collecting unemployment checks for babysitting bar stools, rolling out of bed every morning at the crack of eleven to watch "People's Court," and alphabetizing my records. Seems some forgot to tell Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Public to keep buying their shiny new pickups and sport utility vehicles.

Wait until Kevin sees it. I'm doomed. Talk about fruit hats. I think I was one.

Other than that, I've got nothing.

I bought the newer version for my daughter and told her this was THE coolest toy ever. The new version was so dinky and made of such light-weight plastic she couldn't even get a strong enough spin to get dizzy!

I have some of my grandfather's old cardigans. I love them, but they have become the latest hipster fashion abomination.

message 139: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments I wear cardigans in the winter and am neither hip nor abominable. I'm just square--very, very square.

Kool-aid? They still make kool-aid? I've been stuck in the juice/V8 aisle for too long. Have to relearn the fine art of wandering.
