Yeah - being at the 'arse end of the world' (quote from a previous Australian Prime Minister!) does that :(
Wow you're right, the prices to you are horrible, even for used copies. It looks like The book depository may be the best option. I found both Skip Beat and Nana for good prices, looks like they are on sale: http://www.bookdepository.com/Skip-Be...
http://www.bookdepository.com/Nana-v-...
They both show as A$8.48 to me...(not discounted). I think I try to check out my store next week - if it isn't any good, I'll order one from BD ;)
Well they're normally $9 or so dollars, so it's like $7 something for the first, but the same price you mentioned for the second.
Oh well - not too far out the ballpark... If the Aussie dollar keeps rising against the greenback, I'll buy in US$ :)
Dee, did you get your copy to Love Mode yet? I'm going to start a re-read on the series right now. Just can't seem to find anything else that appeals right now.
I'm quite comfortable pottering away at my speed. I think I'm probably around the same pace as you two, Fran and Dee. I've read 4 out of 12 and am planning on reading two more this month... mainly because one fit the chick-lit category in the monthly challenge, and the other because I REALLY want to read it and don't want to wait any longer :)
Oh - You need to read about two a month I guess Dee... I was really only planning one each month, but I knocked 3 off in the first month - which suited me as it gave me breathing room. I might yet drop the chick-lit book this month...
I had one DNF already, so I got to find something to put it its placebut a lot of the ones I listed were pre-orders - I think the first of which comes out on the 15th (for my M/M pick)
Geez - have I been reading some M/M lately!! I think I've read 4 in the last month or so!Just knocked off your rec Faith & Fidelity, Dee! Had some issues with BOTH H/Hs having no idea they were gay - but loved the second half of the book :) If the next book is about James - I'm IN!! ;)
I had read M/M before but not in this contemporary format - LOVE it!!
yeah, the next one is about James and then book 3 goes back to the original two...Cut & run is similar, in the GFY sense
Cut & Run and The Archer are on my Sony, along with Promises... There are probably more that are waiting, I just can't think of them off-hand...What does GFY mean? (I'm still getting my abbreviations down-pat...)
GFY - gay for you - those are the ones where one or the other discover they are gay and hadn't been previously (or hadn't admitted it to themselves)
I'm perfectly fine with one being GFY - but I was a bit at sea with BOTH... I'm sure it has happened, but - wow - had trouble getting my head around it. Even though both in Hot Head were GFY, it seemed more natural and I didn't have the same difficulty believing in them. I don't know why that is...??
i hadn't thought about it that way, but then F&F was the first true m/m I read - I didn't have anything else to judge it off of. In C&R, Ty (IIRC) has had some guy on guy encounters, but never truely admitted it - I think...i wish I had time for a re-read before book 4 came out
You are getting me excited to read Cut & Run!!! LOL... But Fran is reading Promises so I thought I might read that one first (in between all the challenge reads!)...
I have Cut and Run somewhere, but I really want to read Promises first! I think Cut and Run is kind of a thriller/suspense story and I'm not really into that.
ahhh fucknuts! i for some reason blanked on Under Fishbone Clouds and returned it to the library - i'm an idiot - i'll have to borrow it again
lol! i'm trying to rememebr why I returned it - I don't think I read it...maybe I confused it with another HF book I wanted to read...oh wells
If in doubt - read the precis :) That usually jogs the memory unless it is a Harlequin romance - those can be hard to distinguish between sometimes! (I've definitely bought the same book twice a couple of times with them/Mills & Boon :)
yeah - its not a harlequin - I think I picked it up as a historical fiction set in China for another challenge, and then got an ARC to read instead...lol! i'll grab it again
I'm being diverted off into the M/M world all the time at the mo! You were so BAD to introduce me to that genre!
Vi wrote: "Is Shit My Dad Says better read or on audio?"I didn't read it, but the audio was enjoyable.
Vi,I read it first then listened to it on audio. I loved reading it. I really liked the audio too, but not the person who narrated the father so much. He was ok, but not what I pictured when I read it. I don't think you can wrong either way, it's so good!
Thanks, Fran and MountainKat! If both are good, then I'll go with whichever comes first from the library.
maybe I please have the mods permission to make a change - i've had Bumped reserved at the library for close to 6 months now (since before we started this challenge). i checked the other day, i'm still 3/3 waiting for it, the library has ordered another copy, but its hung up in the system and they don't know when it is going to come in, and they don't accept book donations, so I don't really want to order it from Amazon and get stuck with it...TIA
lol...guess what showed up at the library today...haha! i'm going to read it and use it as well as the one I ultimately ended up reading
I have a question I want to change my World Lit genre, from "The kite runner" to The God of Small Thingsby Arundhati Roy. is that possible?
P.S: this will be my 1st book to change.

Hi Ola!
If you have read a few chapters of The Kite Runner and decided it really isn't to your liking, then you can change it to The God of Small Things- I hope you like that one better :)
