Okay I am logging off, trying. I need to get dinner going for the kids. I'll be back!

message 52: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Alright Emilee! See you later! :)

message 53: by Connie (new)

Connie | 188 comments One of the things I am having a problem with, is that I can never remember if I've already posted in a thread or not. Maybe the problem is not so much being GR obsessed, but that I belong to too many book groups in general to keep it straight. idk...

message 54: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments My issue is saying the same thing in the same thread! I'm always getting confused.

Abigail (42stitches) | 360 comments Ohh dear...I update pretty much the minute I finish a book. And every time I think "Well I'll check check up on my forums..." 2 hours later I remember to add some new books I heard about...then it's time to check the forums again...Then my husband is home and it's time to make dinner and I realize I just spent 6 hours on the net (at least this isn't my only forum obssession, I do have 1 other one)...*sigh* I have to force my self to go out to the coffee shop a couple nights a week so I can get my reading done.
^^

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

I need to force myself away from GR too. But I love it too much! I could be doing worse things!

message 57: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Very true......

message 58: by Krista (new)

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 382 comments I'm with you, Emilee! My car is automatically tuned in to any store that sells books. One minute I'm on my way home and the next I'm walking out of a book store with bags.

You know you're addicted to GR when you can't fall asleep because you're thinking of new topic ideas and you don't want to forget them before you login next time.

JG (Introverted Reader) You know you're addicted to GR when you're supposed to be getting in the shower this very second to get ready to leave on vacation, but you just have to post one more thing...and one more thing...

You also know you're addicted to GR when your husband, who does not share your book obsession, asks what on earth you're going to do for two weeks away from GR and you sort of wail, "I don't knoooowwwww..."!

Seriously, I have got to go. I'll check back in in two weeks! Wish me luck with my withdrawal symptoms!

message 60: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments This is me!!!!!! I am GR addicted!!!!!!! Yaaaahooooooooooooooooooooooooooo:-)

message 61: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments But JG, don't worry. You will get soooo absorbed by Italy that it will be okay ..... if you don't notice those cute bookshops that are hidden or of you don't make the foolish promise to yourself to buy some Italian books so that you get motivated to start learning the most beautiful language in the world......
Then you will be okay, but GOOD LUCK!!!!

message 62: by [deleted user] (new)

JG we will miss you for 2 weeks! Have fun!

message 63: by rebecca j (new)

rebecca j (technophobe) | 6029 comments You know you're a GR addict when your 13 yr. old has to get up at 5:00 a.m. to use the computer, because she knows as soon as you wake up, you're going to kick her off and take it!

message 64: by Grace (new)

Grace (writergracie) | 12 comments I knew that I was obsessed with the site when, upon reading the last page of a book, I immediately went to my computer (which already had the goodreads page open) to put it on my "read" shelf. And of course I have to put a new book on my "currently reading" shelf.

I'm on here more than my personal e-mail and facebook!!

message 65: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Grace, yeah, I know what you mean.

Rebecca: Haha!!!

JG: Have fun on your trip!!!

message 66: by [deleted user] (new)

Grace & Emma- I so know what you both mean!

message 67: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Hey Emilee! I use GR more than any other site or program.

message 68: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) I know that I am definitely addicted to GRs because my day starts with me reading through my daily group digest email! Plus, the second that I finish a book I have to run to the computer and adjust my bookshelves on here! I love it!

message 69: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments :D! I always have to go on GR after I finish a book. Like right now!

message 70: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1626 comments This place is more addicting then Myspace or Facebook. I used to go there 1st when I logged in in the the morning but now I can't wait to be on here and I call it the MySpace for booklovers!

message 71: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments True..only better!

message 72: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments You know you are obsessed with GR when your fiance asks you how your day was and you respond with, "Well on GR we were talking about..."

message 73: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments LOL Jessica.
I was telling my husband about..."the person on goodreads who lives in Fairbanks, Alaska. They had an inch of snow today"

message 74: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Haha Jessica!!!! So true though, I constantly go on rambles about what we talk about.

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL Jessica!

My son always asks me if he can get an account on GR cause he hears me laughing!

message 76: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 48 comments If someone (live action) you know recommends a book, you check out its rating and some of the reviews on GR as opposed to just taking their word for it.

message 77: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments You know you are GR obsessed when...
you've scanned the list of all the threads you like and made your comments...then you go back to the top and start all over.....

I just did that.

message 78: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments If you are starting to panick but trying to behave really calm when for the last half hour or more none of the GR pages wanted to open!!!!!!! AAArrrrrggggghhhh
Everything opened besides every page connected to GR!!!!!! Life can be evil....

message 79: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1626 comments You know you are GR obsessed when EVERY other comment is yours!!!

message 80: by Linda (new)

Linda | 887 comments Kellie, Is that you I hear somewhere in my house. LOL I do the same thing. I even parcel out my time so that I have a little GR for breakfast, and some for a late day snack.

message 81: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments My cable was out this morning and I could not get on line and it was driving me INSANE cause I could not get on GRs. Yes, I am addicted.

message 82: by [deleted user] (new)

You know your GR obsessed when you are at work & just can't wait to see what you missed. You race home turn the computer on & ignore the dogs & cats, kids ect until you view all the threads!

message 83: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments ohoh... I have to ask all of you something, but be honest with your answer...do I have a problem : when i woke up this morning I realized that I had been dreaming about Goodreads, had discussions with you people, talked to you, added books ....
Am I alone? .....

message 84: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I hate to admit it, but sometimes I dream about GR too! My teenager is right, I really AM obsessed!

message 85: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Thaaaanks, I know I am crazy but maybe I am jsut normal if I am not the only one. It was a nice dream..... :-) If I don't get of this website, I am going to start daydreaming while I am actually doing what I will be dreaming of...
Fiona...thanks:-))))

message 86: by [deleted user] (new)

We are all crazy therefore we are all normal so no worries!

message 87: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments It would be Ken! I've had multiple dreams about GR, two about Libba Bray Lovers, two about TNBBC.

You know your GR obsessed when you find yourself recovering from your book buying problem, and you DON'T LIKE IT.

message 88: by Krista (new)

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 382 comments Okay, Leppaluoto. I know this is totally off topic, but you've piqued my interest. What types of things do you do to bring about more dreams?

message 89: by [deleted user] (new)

When you run home from the library sale & list all your books!

message 90: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments :)!!

message 91: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments That's me!!!!

message 92: by Emma (last edited Oct 05, 2008 03:02PM) (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments When you try to will yourself away from the computer with the pretty covers of your books and thinking of the long list of to-reads you could get to if you did read, but no, you cannot get out of your seat.

This is what's happening to me right now!

message 93: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh yeah! :)

I have like 15 pages left in Empire of the Sun which is excellant but my fingers are now superglued to the keyboard! ha ha.

message 94: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments LOL!!!

message 95: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) OMG When you spend ALL DAY Hello ALL DAY in your robe in front of the computer!!!

message 96: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments LOL! True...I've done that. Only when I'm sick though.

message 97: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Well all day until 3pm when the peeps got home (and I had to look like I had done SOMETHING that day!!)

message 98: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Hahaha! :)

message 99: by Angela (new)

Angela | 1934 comments I am actually in my robe, but only because it is a little chilly. I took a couple days off of work so I can get my portfolio ready for graduation in a month... but GR has pulled me in...

message 100: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Well yesterday was "officially" a day off work for me, but the problem is I'm self-employed & work from home, so not much gets done anymore since GR ;)
