I used to go to the Ren Faire all the time with my family when I was younger, and then with friends when I was in college. Then I didn't go for several years until a few years ago - and everything was pretty much the same. Was a bit disappointed that in the 7 or so years I hadn't been they didn't really add any new shows or anything. That said, we do have plans on going back this year. It rained last time and Jer never did get to see the final joust.
I need a new bodice. I think I outgrew my last one. :(I "joke" that I could wear my wedding dress - but it's more Medievally than Renaissance, really. Not that they usually care all that much about accuracy, really. I mean, it's not like the SCA folken.
SCA?
Also, would it be wrong to dress up as a Klingon and challenge everyone to a duel to the death?

Only if they didn't insult you first.
So a french speaking Klingon wearing a proton pack from Ghostbusters while wielding a lightsaber after driving there in a delorean would be bad?

that = bad
Well damnit then, I don't wanna go anymore.

That was me at my last job. Phase 6 comes sooooo quickly.
Quidditch: Harry Potter and the Wizardly Workout - NY Nov. 11-12http://www.worldcupquidditch.com/inde...

Now if they only had teams for old foggies like me.
@Ala - SCAAs to the Quidditch thing - ya know, I'm as big a Harry Potter fan as the next crazy person, but I gotta say I think this whole real-world quidditch thing is kind of ridiculous.

Yea, I don't think it'd be very good. I mean, take out the flying and where's the fun? Plus the bludgers and snitch don't really move on their own in real life, so there's a big detraction there too.
From what I've seen the snitch is actually a human now - but they still make you hold the broom. That's the part that is silly IMO. Other than that...looks like good clean fun. No worse than dodge ball to be sure.
Exactly! :)And let's not forget a bunch of men running around in a rectangle throwing a ball through a circle...

I can't lie, I would totally join SCA if they were around my area.
*gasps* They let you beat people up

This sounds extremely appealing. I'd probably get tired of it though and resort to taunting the people who are getting beaten up, then beaten up myself.
As for the ren faire, I'm in, but I don't know about the corset thing. Those suckers are damned uncomfortable and I hate that cut in half breast thing so many seem to do. Maybe I could go as a nun. It'd sure save on the sunblock.
Denae...doing the French Taunter thing:"I Don't want to talk to you no more, you Empty-headed animal food trough Water. fart in you General Direction. Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries."
Be sure to run.
I hate running. Running in a corset sounds awful. Can't I just pretend to be faint and shriek for someone to save me?*would never be able to do that*
*fails at looking helpless and girly*
*pretty much OK with this, although getting out of tickets would be nice*
I don't have any witty book related shirts. I'm short on nerd saying shirts in general. reddit and video game shirts I have.
@Denea - The corset I had was pretty much just for the look of it. Didn't have any boning or anything crazy like that. It did have some thin metal bits, or something, in certain areas, but it was flexible so sort of defeated the purpose - which I was ok with. :>Actually, I think it was more a bodice than a corset, but I've never been able to get people to agree on what the difference between the two is.
Ah. Then I shall stick with bodices, for they hold me in enough and give me very nice looking cleavage. As for posture - maybe I should wear one more often. My posture at the computer sucks. :-\

Denae wrote: "I don't have any witty book related shirts. A couple of other movie related shirts, but not many book ones, aside from the HP ones.
I do have this one cool shirt of Edgar Poe's 'The Raven' written out in the shape of a raven, though, which I love.
Today I'm wearing my skeleton shirt. I like to quip that it makes me look thin...
It's not a complex if you're right. For a related concept, see this quote I read yesterday and felt compelled to add to the site.

"Who, you gonna call?...."
Lmao...that is an awesome, awesome quote, Denae :)
I don't know what you'd think of the book, but you'd probably find Slothrop, the character whose POV that occurred during, amusing.
Heres another one...*sheepish grinYou might be a nerd if...You use the phrase 'I am not Borg I will not be assimilated' when you are ranting.
...you say things should be nerfed. Bonus points if you've ever said "omg, nerf feral" after being attacked by a cat....you have tattoos in Greek because of the etymology of the words, not because of any Greek heritage.
...you know exactly what people mean when they refer to the sad/terrible Futurama episode.
Do you mean the one with Fry's dog?! So, so, so depressing
Thought of a few more:...roflstomp is part of your regular lexicon
...you drunkenly declare your interest in and willingness to sleep with "Baltar's lawyer" when watching the White Collar pilot, totally ignoring the really pretty main dude
☠The Dread Pirate Grant☠ wrote: "Do you mean the one with Fry's dog?! So, so, so depressing"Yes, that one. Last night's episode had Fry getting a pet and I was sooo worried it was going to go the same way.
(I'm not sure if that apostrophe goes there. Damn ambien. It's driving me crazy.)
... You remember when Chuck Connors played a Werewolf on the Fox Channel. ... you can name all three of Mulder's Partners on X-Files.

Ah, yes, Ambien, A.K.A. the Chemical Hammer in my mother's house. Take it and it's like getting hit in the head with a hammer, you'll go out...
