The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) S.J. LOL of course by that you mean "nice legs" right? (well, that too.)

message 102: by S.J. (new)

S.J. Lewis (sjlewis) | 469 comments Regarding MrsJoseph's comment 114, I have to relate this little story. The Mensa group I belonged to at the time was sponsoring an overnight campout to be followed by a canoe trip. The morning after the campout, one of the other members and I left the campsite to go to a building that offered bathrooms and showers. She went by what appeared to be the most direct route while I took a more circuitous path. I moved at a normal walk, but still arrived at the destination shortly before she did. Upon seeing me, she commented that she should have gotten there first because she'd traveled in a straight line.
"Maybe this is a non-Euclidean campground," I shrugged.

Alicia (writeralicia) ☠The Dread Pirate Grant☠ wrote: "and Blade would Owwwwwwn Buffy. Own her I say."

Yes, yes, YES!
(But first he'd have to get past Willow. And that's the real issue here, if you ask me.)

message 108: by [deleted user] (new)

lmao...fair enough :)

message 109: by S.J. (new)

S.J. Lewis (sjlewis) | 469 comments Blade's problem here is that he's a one-man kick-ass army, while Buffy is a one-woman kick-ass slayer who has lots of friends and has collected a number of nifty artifacts and weapons over the years AND has trained a small army of other slayers. AND even when she tries to do something on her own so as not to get her friends in danger, those friends never quite go along with the program.
Blade is toast.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments I think you guys are limiting yourself. There are a lot more vampire killer/hunters out there than Buffy and Blade, including a couple who are vampires or part vampires (Blade falls into that category also so...).

message 111: by S.J. (new)

S.J. Lewis (sjlewis) | 469 comments I think van Helsing would feel out of place in a Buffy/Blade cage match.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments Ya but "Alice" or Violet Song (both played by Milla Jovovich so I'm not sure both could show up. I know Alice is actually killing zombies so if you want to disqualify her it might simplify) or then there's Selene (Kate Beckinsale) a vampire herself but highly ticked off since she found her vamp progenitor lied to her, killed his daughter and tried to mess up her love life, so she leaves vamps in the dust to. There's is also of course her half vamp/half Lycan (werewolf) boyfriend Michael (I like his name for some reason) who kicks pretty major supernatural butt...

There are probably others, but this could make a pretty good brawl.

message 113: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I heart Selene.

message 114: by The Pirate Ghost (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) Okay, you know your a nerd when, you suddenly realize that you "might" (operative word) be trapped in a time loop while sitting in Traffic on the Outer Banks and your family mini-van, A.K.A. the Urban Assault Vehicle or UAV, gets passed by a massive snail migration. I almost lost it. Those was some pretty sporty slugs let me tell you. Does it still count as Road Rage when technically it's more like "parking Lot Rage?" (No brownies were hurt in the making of this post.)

....you can still sing the theme song to any given number of 80's cartoons.

Thundercats are on the move, Thundercat are loose

Captain Planet, he's our hero...gonna take pollution down to zero

Life is like a hurricane, here in Duckberg

*sigh* I didn't have to look any of those up

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments How about if you've painted a couple of hundred (+) Dungeons and Dragons miniatures and have a few hundred more waiting to be painted??? (Ya, I did and I do).

Elien | 36 comments Hee! I love this thread! :D

You drew runes and Tengwar on your room door as a teenager. They said: "Speak friend and enter". Naturally.

... You could actually read them too.

Elien | 36 comments Tracey wrote: "I came thisclose to painting a line of Tengwar all around my last car when I got it.... "

I'm going to get a tattoo someday. And when I do, there's bound to be Tengwar in it. :p

You might be a nerd if... the first e-mail account you ever had contains the name of your favourite fantasy character of that time. Yes, I AM nachtogensomething@something.com, hear me roar! (Nachtogen = Nighteyes)

Did you see that Cartoon Network is making a new Thundercats cartoon?

Elien | 36 comments *grins and high fives back*

... You take archery lessons because you think elves are just like, sooo totally awesome. Which is why you practise very, very hard and eventually win a medal.

The medal, sadly, says Junior Archery Prince or some such, and you're peeved and outraged that they didn't make a Princess version because there is no distinction between sexes in elvish society! GAH! *rants until her head explodes*

Colleen wrote, "Did you see that Cartoon Network is making a new Thundercats cartoon?"

Whhhhhhaaaaat?! Geez...I'm really not sure how I feel about that. My immediate reaction is distrust and a fair bit of annoyance. All the transformers remakes have sucked.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) Yeah. When I first saw it I was like "Are you serious?" - But it was one of my favorites as a kid, so I'm probably going to watch one or two episodes just to see what it's like.

The animation style is very different - more of that faux-anime which seems really popular right now. So I guess we'll see.

Not sure when it starts, though.

message 124: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1018 comments LMAO @ Captain Planet... used to watch that alllll the time. I wanted to be Linka... I liked her accent lol. Me and my step-brother would run around with rings on, shouting out stupid stuff... lol.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments ...remember watching Fireball XL5 every weekend, (or Thunderbirds, but I liked XL5).

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

I couldn't believe it when they made the new transformers rounded. I know that so ridiculous to get annoyed with but I was that kid who had Optimus and Hot Rod and Megatron and I was mad that they weren't my good ole blocky transformers. I just think animation in the 80's/early 90's was at the top of it's game. I hate 3d cartoons nowadays or faux anime that you mentioned....tho I do still love true anime style

You use AFK and noob in regular conversation and get legitimately confused when people don't know what you mean.

This one is a bit risque, so rather than offend anyone's delicate sensibilities, I'll stick it in here. (view spoiler)

My favorite line: "No examples, please. This applies to everything, so the list would be as long as ... everything. Also, we're not really interested in being the Net's "How To Find Rule 34 Stuff." Also, no Troper Tales of this, period. We know you have porn fetishes. We just aren't interested in yours. Ours is not knowing yours."
