You might be a nerd if you take the day off from work whenever a new game/book/geeky movie is released so you can go stand in line to buy/watch it. Bonus points if wearing a relevant costume.

SMG is the true Buffy - Joss created the tv show because he was so unhappy with how the movie turned out. Kristy Swanson apparently didn't fulfill his Buffy-vision.
Buffy would win for all the reasons SJ listed. She defeated a GOD ffs. And died twice. Besides, she always wins, it's a given ;)

Joss loves using the same actors over and over. Adam Baldwin (Jayne from Firefly) also appeared in Angel, Eliza Dusku (Faith in Buffy and Angel) and Amy Acker (Fred in Angel) were both in Dollhouse.
On a side note, Nathan Fillion played the coolest, most bad-ass bad guy to ever appear on Buffy IMO.
You might be a nerd if...You play Zelda for 8 hours+ non-stop on your friend's Wii and end up with 'wii elbow' and have to attend 6 courses of physiotherapy to sort out the pain...

And for those few hours, nothing else seems important. I remember at the midnight release of Deathly Hallows, my friend made me promise that if I got into the bookstore before her, I'd wait for her before buying the book. As soon as those doors opened, I literally forgot about her and ran on inside.
You could be a nerd if you buy different editions of the same book...
My daughter is taking the day off after the release of the new Potter movie (as she's done with each movie) so she (and her friends) can go to the midnight showing.I own print versions of all the Dresden books and also audio from book 4 on (and have of course pre-ordered both for the next book). I also own several versions of The Deed of Paksenarrion...hard cover, paper back, audio...
You might be a nerd if you're waiting to have your computer upgraded until you see the requirements for Diablo 3...
..and your still (waiting and) hoping for Baldur's Gate 3.
You all have mentioned The Deed of Paksenarrion so often, it's on my very limited dream list of books that I scour second hand stores for! Subterranean Press editions of The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate and The Last Unicorn: The Lost Version are two others I doubt I'll ever find. But, one can dream...
Hi Laural. I use Abe Books )abebooks.com) a lot and have received shipments from book stores in Canada. I checked, they show the individual volumes (Deed of Paksenarrion is the omnibus edition and contains Sheepfarmer's Daughter, Divided Allegiance, and Oath of Gold) for about $3 each. including shipping. I paged through about 2 pages of books and found the omnibus edition for $6.88...Hope it helps.

:)
Ahhh, Buffy. You know you're a nerd if you if you used Buffy as the subject for a paper you wrote in college and yes, you got an A on the paper.
. . . you finished studying for the state bar exam approximately one week in advance of the exam, so that you could fully concentrate on reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows immediately upon its release (which was exactly five days before the exam). It's important to have one's priorities in order. ;)
Reserves the right to refer to self as nerd rather than geek...the whole side show, biting heads off chicken thing still bugs me about the word geek....(For my daughter) ...you debate which TARDIS design is best and what Dr. Who screen saver to use.
...You still debate the relative virtues of ALL the Doctors. (I think I'm still a Tom baker fan, but David Tennant is a close second).
I second the Doctor debate. David Tennant's my doctor but I am loving the weirdness that is Matt Smith. Throw in a debate about the companions and I'm sorted. (Catherine Tate being my favorie).
. . . you use stars (*) or angle brackets (<>) to describe what you are doing while making a written assertion.*shakes head at self*

:)
You spend a day and a half reading a new fantasy release with your boyfriend and end up having to "sleep it off" despite there being no alcohol or other substances involved.
I just wanted to throw in my favorite Doctor Who, Christopher Eccleston. That's where I came in and although Tennant is a very close second my first is my favorite.
Tracey wrote: "... you've ever sung a filk or fantasy-related song with a group of friends. In public. Loudly. At, say, a wedding. *wanders off humming "Hey, ho, to the bottle I go..."*"
filk? *feels nerd cred slipping away*
That's it. It was originally a "misprint" on a sign at a fan convention. It was to say "Folk Music" but was misprinted Filk Music and they used the sign anyway..."Filking" was born.
You'd read a book by some Guy with a french name just to get brownies. Or
You like the policical commentary in Battlestar Galactica 2005.
or
You blow your stack when someone says that the Vampire Lestat flies an F-14 for the Navy.
((And Willow would soooo "smack down Blade" there could never be a Buffy Blade Fight... unless Xander gets involved.))
Or..... you watch day of the Triffods and come away with a better understanding of what Herbicide should really mean!(yes, more old guy humor)
You might be an old dusty nerd if..."you ever got in a three way brawl over who's hottest TV star, Wilma Daring, Dianna Prince or Princess Ardala?"
(its a tie, in formal dress Ardala, from behind, Wilma and in normal costume Dianna... for the record)
Nice. You know you're a nerd when, in order to go to PAX East you end up sharing a hotel room with anywhere from 4-7 other people. (Never again, by the way. We're not going back until we can afford our own room.)
I'd have to vote for Princess Ardala. On top of everything else (Costumes, slinky walk, sexy voice) she's a Bad Girl.
You might be a nerd when you reference/site random books in conversations with non-readers. And explain the reference to them (even if they don't want to know). LOL!My husband and I were walking down the street yesterday and we were talking about distance (why? I don't know). I said something like "Well we should try this way because the shortest distance between two points is a straight line...unless you can make A Wrinkle in Time, of course. Then I grinned at him, expecting him to get it. He's looking at me like "Huh??" so I tell him it's a book reference. Then I force him to listen to me explain the reference as well as the book plot.
lol, MrsJ! I would have got it :)You might be a nerd if... you put your favorite author's sixth book in a series on your "to be read list"... and book five was published this week (bonus nerdness if the author is known to take years between books).
;)

Hmm, could you be talking about our beloved Ala?
@Mrs J, I'd have gone with worm hole, cause even if he didn't get it, anyone can make "worm hole" sound funny.@S.J.- Yes, Ardala had the +8 Slinky factor going but Diana Prince had the two... well ... frontal...lobe like... okay.. Yes, yes, Ardala did have the Slinky Factor going! Gives a guy a new appreciation for a girl can do with some gold fishing string and a lot of plastic pearls. And at least, at this time, Leya just looked like a monk, or a girl on her way home from Church Choir Practice with two Honeybuns stuck one to each ear and a Brittany Spears attitude.... oops there I go again.
<-- will be quiet for Brownies.
