~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Right now I am secretly submitting job applications between my daily work tasks (aka "busy work"). I'm really hoping one of them at least gets me an interview, especially the one involving writing and editing. Too bad it's not any closer to my home than my current job.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Right now I am building up an EPIC RANT. You have been warned, as it will probably pop up in some thread or another before this craptastic day is done.

I believe the rage has subsided for now. As my boss is determined to fit 3 weeks of assholery into the last three days before his vacation, I'm sure it will be back in full force tomorrow.

had planned? Or did plan and finish already?

message 414: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Had planned and haven't even started, let alone finished.

Jammies And now, by the time anyone reads this, I will be napping.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 1 & 2 back to back. It's nice to watch the whole arc without a year in between.

Get to writing, you!!"

I wish it was writing! I'm supposed to be reorganizing my bookshelves, and since I have over 2,000 books, it's a big project!

(and yes, I napped until 5 p.m.)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Just got back from seeing my brother and sister for Christmas. Now battling an epic Christmas Eve nosebleed. Other than the copious amounts of blood, it's been a good holiday so far. Merry Christmas (eve) everyone!

message 423: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) I hope you've got that nose bleed under control by now, Amber. You really don't want to be Rudolph.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I'm watching our recording of Sound of Music at Mom's house. I'm tired, but not sleepy... dammit. And I'm getting antsy about being away from work. You'd think that I'd take advantage of the fact that I can fast forward through the ads, but I'm too lazy to even do that. Okay, I'm not even really watching it... just during my favorite parts. Robby's honeybunned next to my hip and snoring. I adore his snores. They're cute, not loud and obnoxious. This is the first night that my sister's dog has not stayed with me while I've been in Houston on vacation. It's THE BEST when he's here - Robby sleeps cuddled up to one hip and Chewy sleeps cuddled up to the other hip. Robby's about twice Chewy's size at 22 lbs. Chewy's a teensy little Shih Tzu, probably an Imperial Shih Tzu. They both get along well with each other. In fact, I think Robby's been a quick study under Chewy's tutelage - he's picked up some of Chewy's better habits - both social and in communicating with me. I love it when they're both sleeping with me - I have my own little personal radiators. I gave them baths earlier in the week and have been grooming them every day... totally spoiling them rotten.

Angela~twistedmind~ (twistedmind) | 538 comments Washing the shit load of clothes I've put off doing for far too long.
::sigh::
I hate doing laundry. All the seperating and folding and hanging up. What a pain in the arse.

I love it. Endlessly southing. Soothing.

message 431: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments I think if I didn't share washing facilities with roommates, I would find the process more soothing. As it is, I have to rigidly schedule my laundry, which I hate doing. Also, the washer and dryer are in the kitchen, which is kind of annoying.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
That sounds unfun.

<>I lived once in this apartment building where I had to go out into the communal, red carpeted and curry scented hallway, down a rickety second floor wooden laundry room with coin-operated facilities, to wash a load that took anywhere between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on the color and type of wash.
Ugh.

But I had a bathtub in a HUGE bathroom with a skylight directly above it, so it was totally worth every cent of that rent money.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I'm sitting on the couch in L&D room 5 at the hospital. My sister's having a baby today. I'm sitting between my 10 year old nephew and the BIL's brother and they're talking football. :)

message 434: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Yay for HeidiSis!

I am frantically trying to move a pre-need funeral from one funeral home to another because despite the fact that the funeral was purchased 6.5 years ago, the family has decided NOW they don't like the original funeral home their mama picked.

Little Brianne Feliciana was born at 6:06 p.m. on December 28-it's great to be a great Aunt!

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments She's already had the epidural (this is boy#3) & the pitocin drip started by the time we arrived at 8ish. She's @ 5cm now. Baby should arrive soon.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Right now I'm getting ready to make a big batch of wicked good beef stew--mushrooms, red wine, onions, couple strips of bacon, etc. for the Homeless Shelter. I'll serve it up with buttered noodles and a box of Clementines. The shelter director told me last time I cooked, "Wow--no one else but you cooks with wine for these guys." He also got pretty excited about fresh fruit--I think they get most of their fruit by way of jello salads.

I always take fruit to the Food Bank. Fresh and canned fruit are always welcomed.

message 446: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments hey, just saw the earlier posts asking about the size of the jail in kokomo. prob 120 male inmates (they don't have me work with the female inmates prob because the result may end up like the movie Canned Heat). this is a county jail that is actually pretty new and way nicer than i thought. they have a lame *** 4 shelf library there that is unmanned. the library asked me to do a deal where i take 2 carts of paperbacks around (several hundred books) and help the guys get them. no real checking out as they just can take 2 ea time for 2 weeks (i go every other wednesday). all i have to do is check next to their name when they return 2 and when the take 2 write down it again next to their name. not exactly the dewey decimal system but it works. the library has a donated set of paperbacks that sort of rotate for this. once they go to the jail they never go back into the reg library. i do flip check them before i put them back on the cart and if i ever find body fluids in them i am D-U-N done. the part i like most is talking books with these guys. lots are really knowledgeable and well read. one guy keeps asking for frank mccourt (which i think is totally cool. so i go into each pod and they release the guys 4 cells at a time which is 8 guys. they give them like 10 mins to pick books. i talk to them and help them. i know lots of those dudes or their family. first time there i knew several guys and was giving hugs (and/or bro hugs) to a couple of guys and one of the guards said "no hugging allowed." i said "then you got the wrong guy for this job". he didn't say anything else since.

so no, it's not mayberry with me and otis looking at national geographic. one cool thing: my daughter (who works at the library) called me thur and said that i am officially listed as library staff now because of all the volunteer crap i do there. i really didn't care until she said it gave me immunity from book fines and i get first dibs on some new stuff. somebody get me a name tag.....

message 447: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Very cool, Kevin.

message 448: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments No book fines! And bro hugs!

message 449: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments What the what! Immunity from fines? I'm going to ask for that at my library! That is the coolest thing yet, kevin. And you don't have a badge. I have a library badge, and a green lanyard. I'm almost as cool as Kevin.

message 450: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments P.S.: What is a bro hug?
